I'm currently finishing up my 3 month program for first time offenders. 5 stars for Keith! "Yes indeedy!" "Before ya do the clapping, ya betta get to know them first" Here are some rules to live by in education class (once per week): 1. Know your exits. If the front is blocked off, go through the back. 2. Pay your fees on time. 3. Be on time. 4. What's said in here stays in here. "If you're going to gossip, tell yo own stuff; it's juicer and more accurate". 5. Participate. 6. No sleeping. 7. Respect other's opinions. 8. Only one person to the bathroom at a time. 9. No food or drinks. Clear water bottles only. 10. Wear appropriate attire. 11. No leaving the building after you enter. 12. No cell phones. 13. No profanity. Little words turn into big words, which turn into sentences. 14. Do not come intoxicated and/or under the influence. TIP#1: 50-75% first time offenders become second time offenders. Make the right choices and learn the first time around. TIP#2: If you're even a minute late, you will not be let into the classroom, will have to do a makeup, and pay a $25 fee. Keith likes me, so he was nice enough to let me slide one time when I came in at 7:01pm. 3 face to face interviews: These only last 10-15 minutes so they're chill! 5 group meetings with my counselor Lisa: I find these much more enjoyable and interactive than education! read more

They need a minus 5 . I have done my end but they still haven't sent any proof of completion. The counselors do either dont care or get paid too much. They constantly ignore you i.e. never respond to emails or voicemails. Covid is NO EXCUSE!!!!! THEY GOT A ONE STAR BECAUSE THEY DONT HAVE A MINUS RATING!!! read more

This "school" is a joke. I've been going and paying for two years now. Paid EVERYTHING. Actually over because if you don't they threaten to "dismiss you" and you start all over with payments and everything. I started asking about payments and requesting my transaction history since March and they ignore you or tell you they don't understand what I'm asking for...?..like what? Now they are "closing down"? and we are supposed to call The Safety Center and start over there with payments and everything. So I call and they say someone will call me in two weeks. So they are going to pull a fast one on us and start us all over again...yep said I need to start over, and pay again!!! NO! This whole thing is a big scam. I WANT MY MONEY BACK! What did I pay for? I guess I need to find a lawyer. Because I'm not paying again or doing everything over again. It's funny once I started asking questions they close. This is sad they totally take advantage of the fact that we HAVE to do this and what they say goes. We're just the drunks that want to get our licenses back. They hold that over your head, they make up dates and totals and to be honest whoever is in charge of the files should be in a lot of trouble. This place has a monopoly on the second offender DUI program needed in Alameda County. I attend the Dublin Office and please note that the courts make you attend the program, but this place will rip you off left and right. I for one called the corporate office in San Diego, called Oakland, and of course my Dublin office. NO ONE WILL EVER CALL YOU BACK They will even charge you $25 if they cancel the class on you and make you attend another class. My counselor Richard in OHS was great. But i even left the manager/ program director a message stating it is urgent and of course they dont call back. Who ever sold Alameda county courts a dream should be living large by now. If you live here and have 2 DUIS you have no choice but to go get robbed by OHS 2K class and on top of that 25$ for every missed activity. OHS if your reading this please note that your Admin team in Oakland need more training on how to follow up with clients, shoot the supervisors dont even call. Education for 2 weeks is all they really teach you about why not to drink and the side affects, the rest of the time is just Bsing for a certain amount of hours until they send your file back to the courts complete. read more

I think I will get my 3rd soon...This program is not designed to make you better and learn from it, hidden fees and unnecessary payments

So today February eight 2020 my DUI counselor decided that for some reason she was going to be extremely on my case today so when we went into her face-to-face where she initially scheduled it at 1:20 PM (when my class is not legally allowed to be out before 130) She asked us to repeat the information to her as of who has face to faces with her and when I said my time she said you really need to pay attention so I waited until I got into her office we are not only she said I should be breathalyzed because she thinks I'm under the influence so when I asked if it costed money she said no I said please breathalyzed me then because as everybody knows everybody that's close to me Knows I have not had a sip of alcohol since last year and she said no it does not cost so when I requested one she denied me because she said oh I'm sorry I'm fully booked I don't have time then when I said I need to ask mama for a new schedule the front desk lady she said Abba can't do that I'll be doesn't have the time I'll just go do it so before she did that she slammed her desk closed with her foot then stormed out of our meeting which is only a 15 minute meeting. The months I've been seeing her about eight I've got about 10 left she has called me names in front of the class has treated me like I'm stupid refuses to answer questions and basically asked if I was under the influence today and when I was when I requested to be breathalyzed she refused and then she accused me of being on drugs which she also would not ask for because due to her busy schedule so I asked him what there was I could do and she said I really need to get my priorities straight knowing that I've been dealing with a lot of family issues a.k.a. death drama homelessness etc. so she asked if I had any questions for her and I said actually I do I'd like to be transferred to a new counselor and she refused so I had to go up to the front desk lady alba amazing lady who actually treats you like a person and will answer your questions unlike the counselor who if you ask her a question she physically will scream at you at the top of her lungs saying you should already know this information or pay attention parading you like you're an idiot in front of the class so bad that it brought me to tears I don't cry a lot my actions are usually to hit but as a lot of people now I'm trying to grow I'm almost 35 years old all I wanna do is start a family and do good in life and before that I have never ever ever been talk to you like this by another person before ever I woke up this morning and I was in very good spirits because it was the first time since before Christmas I'm not sick with that damn flu. I really honestly need to know who to complain to because I don't think it's fair when I asked to be breathalyzer that she said oh well maybe it's your perfume them I said oh well since I have my belongings in my carry night bag which I have been caring around because I've been sleeping on friends couches for now when I gave her my perfume she smelt it made a face said it you and then physically threw it back at me I'd really really like to know if anybody knows a hotline or a Better Business Bureau that I can get a hold of because I was basically just harassed by a woman counselor who I believe is still heavily drinking this happened at OHS in Concord. If people are going to be teachers they cannot be abusive I have watched her humiliate students because they don't know their group number I have watched her laugh at students comments or answers she actually threw those papers on the ground saying this doesn't count I can't read your signature when a lot of my classmates are disabled I actually had to pick up a piece of paper and handed back to a man who couldn't walk and today she yelled at not only me and did that to me but in front of class she decided to tell a lady that she was basically a literate because of she couldn't read her signed name so instead of handing the paper back to her student she also threw it on the ground where the lady had to come up from the back of the class at 50 years old bend over and pick it up. This lady is not meant to teach. Her name is Christine Ziegler and she is one of the meanest people I have ever met in my life. If anybody knows how I can make a formal complaint about this lady please let me know because I don't know the first step. I think everybody should deserve to have a job and deserves to work but not when you physically mentally and emotionally abuse your students thank you. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. Never in my life, in this country at least, have I encountered such a poorly-run and unprofessional organization. Were it not some pseudo-public governmental entity it would have completely gone under due to a completely lack of competency, business ethics, responsibility, and breach of contract. Though I rarely write reviews, this one I take the time to write as a cautionary tale: DO NOT GIVE YOUR MONEY TO THIS PROGRAM. yes, arriving there you are humble and shamed and just want the problem to go away. OHS takes advantage of this and starts out with a no nonsense attitude that makes you feel in capable hands. After that initial confidence, everything goes to pot. Important sessions you must attend are scheduled but when people show up, lo and behold, it has been cancelled! Which is no easy fix for people who don't drive. Once or twice would be understandable, but this was often monthly or even more frequently. Get it together guys! No normal business could operate with this kind of behavior. Fees paid are mysteriously lost, as the counselors themselves warned us, and sensitive paperwork was constantly being sent to wrong addresses. Dates for groups change without notification. Somedays you'll go down for a scheduled meeting and building will just be locked. Obviously many of us were frustrated with this lack of propriety and I heard several more outgoing complainer shut down with condescending shame by counselor Renee who basically told them they couldn't complain as they're the bad guys with duis. I believe the exact line was, "oh we're bad? Well you got yourself a DUI!" Frankly UNETHICAL treatment of subjects in a clinical environment and utter unprofessional unconscionable behavior by said counselor. This program has frustrated me greatly for nearly 2 years, but I put my head down, suffered it silently, and just awaited the day it would be history. Alas, OHS has managed to screw that up too!!! They were a month late sending my letter of completion to the dmv and when they did send it, it lacked all kinds of important info and the dmv voided it. Bravo! OHS, this is the only thing you need to get right, you're paid for it, you do it often, and you still screw it up???? Which will cost me who knows how much time and phone calls and red tape to fix this debacle. Yes, this review voices a lot of personal frustration, but my experience was by no means unique. People need to know what's going on at this place. After a DUI you are scared and confused and ready to listen to whomever might have the solution. I have a few reasons for posting three stars, this is my first time writing a review on yelp but I am hoping that OHS will see this and take into consideration some of my gripes. Pros 1) Enrolling and introduction. This process was very simple and straight forward. The lady that help me out was able to answer all my questions and made my stressful situation very easy. The introduction class was very straight forward and helped line out the whole process. 2) Instructors. Some of the instructors are very helpful, knowledgeable and are open minded. I feel that Rene and Tony are very great at what they do and really want to help the people that have to attend their class. I wish I could have made the Pros list a bit longer but I do not feel that there is anything else I could really say is great about this place. Cons 1) Staffing I feel that they are very short staffed. When I had any questions in between my classes and called my counselor or main office I was never able to get ahold of someone. I would leave a message and would get a call back normally 3 Days later. Great that they gave me a call back but I feel that 3 days is a bit excessive. 2) Payments When you have to pay any fees, such as when you reschedule a class, you have to ask your counselor before or after class to pay. With this they do not know how much you owe. You have to make sure you keep a good record of what fees you have and how much you owe. If you are even a dollar off you can be charged a $25 late fee. A way to avoid this is by calling into the main office to pay but they rarely answer their phone (they never answered their phone when I called but it may have just been bad timing for me) and call you back normally 3 days later. 3) Rescheduling Fee Unfortunately, I had to reschedule a few classes due to starting a new job. If you have to reschedule any class there is a $25 fee. I can understand that they do not want people missing class but we do have lives outside of this course. I can see if someone is missing classes excessively but for someone that has to reschedule once or twice and reschedules for another class in the same week, I do not believe that they should have to pay $25 each time. Yes, I made a mistake and part of my punishment is having to attend this course. With that I have already paid a large amount in court, lawyer and other fees and do not have a savings anymore to pay for unjustified fees. I lost my last job due to the DUI and needed a new job to survive, with starting a new job I do not have the room to ask for time off when I just started. I believe I am not the only person in this position hence the reason I brought it up. 4) Instructor Bias I understand that instructors use their own personal experiences and bias as to teach a class but they should not bring up their own opinions in social racial injustices and bring them across in their teachings as facts. I only had one instructor do that in a class, which created an anti-police atmosphere in the classroom I feel. He also brought across his opinion that Blacks and Hispanics are being unjustifiably singled out by our judicial system. I AM NOT TRYING TO BE BIAS IN THIS COMMENT, I AM NUTRUAL IN THE SUBJECT. I believe this topic should be kept out of the classroom unless they are willing to dedicate a solid, informative and educated discussion on the topic. As this subject has many different topics, stats, opinions and so forth. Also, If it matters at all, I am Hispanic and am the first generation in the United States, with majority of my family born in Mexico, so I feel that I do have a stake in the subject. 5) Repetitive The courses are informative but it seems that they only have a hand full of presentations. The Anger Management presentation was shown three times during my 3 month course. I understand that there are a limited amount of courses but I feel they should have a bit more courses as we only go in 4 times a month. These are my main concerns with the course and I hope this will help OHS improve their program. read more
