This event was Castro Valleys 10th Annual Car Show and they had some sexy muscle cars out for display. Taking it back just a little bit...I am a sucker for sexy colorful cars...It seems to catch my attention better than seeing a sexy man on the street....but any who...When I had drove by Castro Valley Blvd and noticed all the cars I couldn't help but to stop, park and explore! This event took place on Saturday June 11th from 2PM-7PM and I had arrived a little before they closed. Most of the cars and the owners were still there while individuals like me snapped pictures from the inside of the car to the outside. FOOD: They had one side designated for food trucks. I was happy to see: ~WoKitchen-Never heard of them before but they sold food items from Veggie Eggrolls to Tacos! ~Smokes Poutinerie-I have tried them at their Berkeley location and I'm a big fan and supporter of this business! I was really excited to see they had a food truck! Looks like many of attendees were happy about them as well! ~Chick-N-Chill food truck was there. This small community fest took place in the St. Rose Hospital parking lot this past Saturday…read more Numerous youth volunteers could be found roaming the grounds, along with security near the entrances. It was a well organized family-friendly affair with plenty of tables and seating available for guests. I enjoyed the live entertainment (i.e. a great cultural performance of Azteca/Mexica drumming and dancing), and a DJ playing music through the speakers all evening, including hip hop, dance remixes, latin tunes, 80's hits, and songs like Take on Me by A-ha, Candy Rain by Soul For Real, and Just the Two of Us. Such a great mix! The sound system was pretty good too, the clarity, volume, and bass just right. Food trucks and drink stands offered a range of options, from lumpia to nashville hot chicken, as well as delicious cookies and other desserts. Merchandise vendors selling plants, totes, animal themed items, clothing, jewelry, and more... plenty of pumpkins too (which I think they were giving away for free), along with activities for kids, which was fitting with halloween less than 2 weeks away. I picked up a lovely green crochet bag from "The Journey of Art" arts and crafts shop, and a pastry from WhatCoffee & Bakery's food booth. This flaky savory treat, made up of mushrooms and melted cheese, was super satisfying. It was great to discover a new business I didn't realize has an existing brick and mortar location near my hometown (in Santa Clara). Multiple bins for trash, recycling, and compost were conveniently spaced out throughout the premises. In addition, the porta potties were clean and well stocked, without any lines. Though nothing too exciting about this night market, there was certainly lots to appreciate and no admission fee.

This event has happened recently in many locales. Filipinos & Mexicans live in the same neighborhoods, they work together on farms picking grapes, vegetables, they share similar foods. I came too early. The event was being set up. With the dozens of vendors due to come. The vendor space looked too small. Dozens of arts & craft vendors + following food vendors: Hella Good Kettle Corn, Senor Sigig, Toxia food truck, Locos Only, Los Kuyas, Pop-a-Byt Donuts, Sweet Pipers, Street Stix... Didn't see any stage setup...some pics didn't work due to glare of sun.... *May is Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month...

Entrance in 2025 was $5.00, and children 12 and under are free. There's free parking at the church next door, lot across the street and street parking The food is cooked by church members, and it's absolutely delicious. You have to try the fried cheese, gyros (pronounced yeeh-roo), and bougatsa. There's also a huge dining hall with warm food, but we didn't get a chance to try it this time. My favorite part of the festival is watching the dancers, they really get the crowd going! The vendors are also fantastic; I've purchased a few necklaces over the years. For me, it all started a few years ago when I attended the Ales for ALS beer festival here at Faction Brewing (https://www.yelp.com/biz/ales-for-als-alameda). Great charity cause, stellar brewery/ beer lineup, & Faction's sprawling layout on the edge of Alameda with sweeping Bay/ City views made for a memorable brewfest that I try to get back to every year. & then, this year, I heard about Brewbies. What? Another beer festival out at Faction. I definitely needed to check it out. The Brewbies Fest raises funds for the Keep A Breast Foundation (http://keep-a-breast.org/). In addition to being a fundraiser for a good cause, Brewbies is a top-notch beer festival. What's it say about a brewfest when Russian River is pouring Pliny & there's no line for that? Yeah, the participating breweries & the beers they brought were that impressive. Brewbies. VIPs got in an hour early, and it was totally awesome to get your first beers in, pick up a bunch of sweet stickers and other brewery swag, chat with brewers and hit the more popular food trucks before the beer-thirsty hordes descended. LOL. It wasn't THAT terribly crowded, but a festival without lines is pretty magical. Brewbies benefits the Keep a Breast Foundation, supporting breast health education, so we got a tote bag full of little trinkets that read I heart BOOBIES. Breweries were encouraged to bring a pink beer if they had one, as that was the color of the festival, and many actually brewed special beers for the occasion, with fun names like Tough Titties (heyyyy Woodhouse from Santa Cruz). Lots of local breweries from the East Bay, SF, and quite a SoCal presence as well. It was really fun to try some breweries that we hadn't heard of, like Iron Springs from Fairfax/San Rafael, which made our favorite beer of the day, Not Your Uncle's Dunkel. Onto the food... We tried a "gourmet corn dog" from Sticks -- tasty, definitely, was it worth $6? Well, it was a festival, and I am a sucker for a corn dog. You could actually bring your own food in, which I thought was great. Some dudes showed up with pretzel necklaces. Go on with your prepared selves! We also got a Grilled Cheez Guy sandwich ($9) with "the works" (+ $6 gets you a bunch of stuff, but I just remember avocado, pickled pepper, tomato, and bacon). It was a good sandwich, again, a bit pricey at $15, but I couldn't really taste the cheese. I'm thinking that might have been our fault for getting "the works" but we expected the grilled cheese flavor/texture to be more prominent. I'd try them again, though. Bonus round: Do the Bay had a fun little photostation with cute signs, rainbow balloons, temporary tattoos and stickers. There were skeeball machines which you could pay for using your phone/contactless device. Raffles for skate decks painted by local artists. Fun times!

The highlight of the event was definitely the food. Some vendors only accepted cash, others only…read more"event cash" (which guests purchased/exchanged at the registration booth near the entrance), so this added a bit of inconvenience to our experience. But there were tons of food vendors throughout, and a comprehensive menu on the festival website, showcasing the wide range of diverse offerings, as well as clear menu signs at each tent on site. Falafel wraps, beef kofta and grilled lamb plates, and Egypt street food galore, along with an Egyptian coffee stand and a dessert corner selling crepes, baklava with ice cream, and other pastries. Just so much to choose from. We got a strawberry smoothie and hibiscus juice from the Tut & Sons beverage tent, and these treats were fresh tasting and delicious, topped off with a cute little umbrella on the colorful skinny straws it came with. We also tried the macaroni bashamel, alexandrian liver sandwich, and feteer with feta cheese and egg. Food and service were strangely just okay, but most volunteers/workers were friendly, and we didn't encounter any problems. And there were plenty of shaded tables and seating to enjoy our snacks and drinks. There were also church tours, extremely limited merchandise for sale (idk, maybe they ran out of offerings the first two days!?!), live music by community members and other forms of entertainment on a small stage, and a kids area with inflatable slides, rock climbing, and more. Free parking and unnecessary shuttle service was available at East Avenue Elementary School, but that lot was full when we arrived a little after lunchtime. Luckily we found parking on the road directly in front of the Coptic Youth Center where the festival was taking place. Fun little family-friendly event, free to attend, and great for spending an hour or two on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.

The church is cool with great art inside and a nifty store for all Egyptian needs is by the patio in the back. Only thing I'd change is the placement of the stage. It was pretty slanted and someone could get hurt. We got some hibiscus drink and strawberry smoothies. As well a lover sandwich and other good foods.

The food is great and there is plenty of good shopping. I picked up a few pieces of skeleton art including an infinity scarf, and a skeleton wrist cuff. All the vendors are really cool and have really cool stuff I don't see at the malls or shops around here. Tons of food and many different cars! I was able to see old school Chevys and Buicks (which are my FAV!) All the cars going down the row were SEXYY!! OMG! The pictures speak a 1000 words! This event was definitely worth the one day! There was a live band: Prieto and Jink Jones. Although I wasn't there to experience the whole band they definitely did a good job while I was listening! I enjoyed seeing the beautiful Pin up Models in there outfits! OMG! There was a live DJ! Whoot whoot and raffles games that you could play and win amazing prizes! Now moving on to the food vendors! I was happy to see many of the companies that I see because I had never tried the food before so it was nice to be able to experience at the car show. They had beautiful art vendors! Oh how I wish I could have brough money on me! I wanted to buy a lot of the art that I had seen! It was THAT beautiful! I was able to try: Cupcake Shoppe- The love of cupcakes can never be that real! Just looking at the cupcakes had me excited. They decorations on the cupcakes is just plain ol' SEXY!! ~Puerto Rican Food Vendor: Selling Yucca Fries, Empanadas and Platano Maduro everything was delicious at this vender. ~Nachos were also served with everything on it for only $8! Pricey but hey what do you expect! This was definitely a nice car show and I'm happy to see that they had one in my city! I hope to see many more as I LOVE car shows! Until next year!
