So happy to see that my old dojo is still in business (I know a lot of businesses I remember in my hometown have since closed) I attended Okinawa Te for a number of years when I was a kid and I loved it It wasn't until I was an adult I realized karate was only a piece of what I was learning there Respect, social skills , tolerance , self control, discipline, and many other traits i had obtained through various teachers at the dojo Although after 15 years I can't remember all their names I do remember how much I enjoyed everyone who taught me Although I somehow can still remember sword and hammer lol Thank you sensei Richard and everyone involved with Okinawa - Te I hope this place never closes and if anyone reading this is thinking about joining or signing up their child I would not hesitate to give it a try ! read more

I trained under Sensei Triplett as a very young child, and recently returned to train again now that I am an adult with a greater appreciation for how valuable martial arts training is. Aside from the general health and fitness benefits, the skills that are taught are very practical. While I have every intention of avoiding violent confrontations, I feel much more prepared to protect myself and my loved ones than I did before. And this confidence is enhanced with every training session. Another thing that has brought be back to Okinawa-Te is the strong sense of camaraderie among all of the people who step on that mat. Beyond martial arts, Okinawa-Te enforces discipline, respect for oneself and others, and a sense of community. Regardless of age, skill level, or any other difference, there is a unique bond between us. When a new student starts, they are welcomed with open arms. This is what makes Okinawa-Te different, in my opinion. The distinct lack of elitism. We are encouraged to push ourselves and each other to continuously learn and improve. Sensei Richard Triplett has been the best instructor in my life. Yes, he is a great martial arts instructor, but more importantly he is a great teacher of life skills and an overall good person. He instilled in me at the age of 13 the morals, values, character and discipline that I needed in life. I've been a member the dojo since I was 7, Sensei Richard is a second father to me and I've been a senior student for some time. While I haven't made black belt yet I know that when I make it I know I will have truly earned it. If you want to enroll your child you can, though I recommend you do it between the ages of 7 to 11 due to they are more prepared for it but if you desire to enroll you young child we will welcome them with open arms. Great martial arts training for adults and kids. Sensei Triplett is not only skilled in the martial arts, but is also natural born teacher who cares about the success of his students. He is active in the community and has touched many lives with his hard work and compassion. To this day, he stands as one of the greatest influences in my life. I began training in the late 80's at the age of 14 and can honestly say that my life was made much better not only through the many hours of training (classes during the week, open workout on the weekends, apprehending seminars, ground fighting seminars, weapons training seminars, and more), but also through the demonstration of good character in the many stories that sensei would share during training. There is a sense of family here that I will be forever grateful for. I went on to serve in the military and am now enjoying a successful career in the tech industry. The self-discipline, work ethic, and good character that I found demonstrated here have been a big part of that success. Sensei and the people in this place will always hold a special place in my heart. I am fortunate to be able to continue to train here to this day. read more
