The Oklahoma City Blue have won two NBA G League Championships, but that was when the Blue were known as the Asheville Altitude and the league was known as the D-League (2003 and 2004). Since that time, the franchise has moved twice: in 2005 to Tulsa (66ers) and in 2014 to Oklahoma City. The team has done OK during its time in OKC. In its current incarnation, the Blue won the 2017 Western Conference Championship and three-straight division titles from 2017 to 2019 (Southwest in 2017, Midwest in 18 and 19). Throughout its history, the franchise has served as a feeder to seven NBA teams. However, beginning in 2008, the Blue became the exclusive affiliate of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Both the Blue and the Thunder are owned by the Professional Basketball Club. The ownership group acquired the Blue - still the Tulsa 66ers at the time - in 2008, making the team just the third development league team to function as a direct affiliate to an NBA team. Direct affiliation is how the G League is structured now, but it didn't always use to be that way. Notable former Blue players who have played significant time in the Association include Rasual Butler, Ramon Sessions, and Gary Forbes. Others include Brandon Bass, Alex Caruso (2020 NBA champion), Derrick Dial, Ersan Ilyasova, and Reggie Jackson. In 2013, Butler was named G League Impact Player of the Year and was an Honorable Mention on the All-NBA G League Team. Sessions had the same honor in 2008. Forbes participated in the 2009 G League All-Star Weekend three-point competition on behalf of the 66ers. Since moving to OKC in 2014, the Blue have played in the Cox Convention Center (formerly known as the Myriad Convention Center). The Cox Convention Center is located across the street from Chesapeake Energy Arena where the Thunder play. The convention center originally opened in 1972 and has a seating capacity for basketball of 13,846. Presently, it's the second-biggest arena in the G League behind Wells Fargo Arena, home to the Iowa Wolves (16,110). The Blue, through its history as the Altitude, are one of the eight original founding members of the NBA G League which began play in 2001. read more

Presti, who won three NBA championships as an assistant GM with the San Antonio Spurs (2003, 2005, 2007), ultimately guided OKC to the 2025 NBA title. Presti was primarily responsible for drafting Kevin Durant (2007), Russell Westbrook and Serge Ibaka (2008), and James Harden (2009). That core tried to take the torch from San Antonio, but Tim Duncan, Gregg Popovich, and R.C. Buford weren't done yet (2014). Presti is also primarily responsible for drafting Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams in 2022, and making trades for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (2019), Cason Wallace (2023), and Alex Caruso (2024). To a certain extent, Presti created a Spurs 2.0 in OKC, with both teams being in similar markets and seeing similar sustained success in the Western Conference. OKC is currently in the midst of the 2026 Western Conference Finals against - surprise - the Spurs, with the victor likely to beat whoever comes out of the East (I predict the Knicks).

The experience is whimsical, nostalgic, and surprisingly thought-provoking all at the same time. One of the things I appreciated most was learning about the mission behind Factory Obscura. The exhibit isn't just beautiful--it was created by local artists who are supported for their work. Knowing that the installation continues to evolve with contributions from more than 100 artists made me appreciate every room even more. As a travel photographer, I loved photographing the exhibit. Every corner offered a completely different color palette, texture, or composition. The special diffraction glasses they provide make the lighting even more magical, so don't skip using them while you explore. My advice? Wear comfortable shoes, plan for at least 2-3 hours, and don't rush through it. Open every drawer, look through every little window, touch everything you're allowed to touch, and if you're able, crawl through the hidden passages--you'll discover details most people walk right past. Whether you're traveling with kids, visiting as a couple, hanging out with friends, or exploring solo, Factory Obscura is one of the most creative and memorable attractions we've experienced. It's colorful, imaginative, and unlike anything else in Oklahoma City. We left inspired and would absolutely visit again the next time we're in town.
