At a recent Junior League holiday…read moreevent, my husband and I -- along with many others, who anxiously awaited in the fast-moving line -- waited to get our picture taken. The TapSnap photographer had tons of props to choose from, that were sooo cute, and sooo perfect for Christmas. When it was our turn, my guy and I stood in front of a huge green backdrop, and were able to see ourselves on what looked to be a TV screen for some sort. This made it easy to fix our wearables, and look at the right direction, so we could smile at the camera. Within seconds, we had an assortment of backdrops to choose from, and ultimately, ended up going with a beautiful outdoor shot, full of holiday lights. Once we choose our final pic (mind you, others are waiting for their turn, which really speaks to how fast this thing goes), I was able to type in my email address on said TV screen, where I immediately received a digital copy to share online. To top it off, my guy and I were able to take home two 4x6 copies! This idea is brilliant, and a total upgrade from your average photo booth. I asked Scott if you could work his "magic" on it so that I could have it placed next to her favorite Saint. I had just found out that she passed away. It was like I was literally looking at my mother face to face?! From the time I contacted Scott till the time I had the photo in hand must have been less than an hour? All I can see is shaky tripod, superbad zooming, poorly considered lighting, weird jump cuts (we were just at the ceremony, now were dancing, I don't understand). Most of it is just so bad. FLASHBACK: Younger, more cynical JULIE rolls eyes and yawns watching an acquaintance's wedding video. I've never even thought I would want to have a wedding video done, because I dislike them so. (CUE MOURNFUL FIDDLE) Which is sad, because I think these recorded memories are the best gift you can give yourself, the best gift you can give your kids, and their kids. A film person who would choose not to document the most important day of my life. Sad. We stayed in contact in the weeks leading up to the wedding in late October and she made sure that we would be getting the shots that we wanted as well as suggesting and informing us of other shots she would get for us on our day. It really helped relieve the pre-wedding stress knowing that she was well acquainted with our venue and time-frame too. She and her husband worked our wedding and showed up right on time and got started right away. Making sure to fit more than enough quality photos into our time we had her services.
