I've been a long time Ola customer but it's gone way downhill. The only thing that hasn't changed is the price/$300-$400 a pop for cut and color. All to go to a venue that has the sophistication of a Super Cuts. There's no receptionist any more. You just stand there awkwardly until your hair stylist acknowledges you. No real waiting area. The stylists don't make an effort to look neat and professional. It's just a shadow of the super sexy, glamorous Ola that really gave you that cool, edgy ambiance as well as 5 star luxury service. In the area, just go to Serenza. It's $250 for cut and color and it's much more comfy and upscale read more

I'm giving two stars because my actual experience in the place was great. The staff were friendly and kind. Great ambiance, clean, smelled amazing. This was my first time going here for lashes and I was not impressed. Immediately afterward, they looked great. But about an hour later I was finding them on my lap after falling out. I've had lashes for years and have never had a problem with them falling off so quickly. I'm posting photos of immediately after and now three days later, half of them are gone. I took care of them the way I always have- no water, I don't wash them directly, no sweating, no makeup. For $200, definitely not worth it. Won't be going back. read more

I'm a new client here and I'm so happy I found this salon! Cheryl Travis has cut and colored my hair twice now, and I couldn't be happier with the results. I was looking for a big change with my hair color, wanting to go from a washed out blonde to a rich brunette color. I've had my hair done here and loved the place (would say 5 stars) and then when I decided to get lashes I returned here instead of going to the place I normally go which is farther away. I feel bad giving 1 star, so I'm doing 2. The ambiance is great, the people are friendly. BUT. Got a full set of lashes, and by the fill I noticed my natural lashes were shorter/coming off w/my fake lashes. My lashes were fine to start with in terms of length/strength. Then my person was leaving so I made my subsequent fill appts w/someone else but I grew increasingly concerned as I noticed how short my own lashes were so I let the false ones grow out and now have the world's shortest eyelashes. I've had lashes for years- another salon and as recent as last year. My old aesthetician told me the reason the lashes fall off/break (beyond what is normal) is that the false lashes are too heavy (not the right ones for your lashes). Anyhow I don't know what happened- my lashes were originally fine and now they aren't. And it's not like this is some discount establishment. VERY disappointed. read more

I was a first time client and she helped me correct the last two terrible hair colorings I've had done (both partial foils, and at big name salons). I love Ola! I had to find a new salon after my stylist moved to another state. I was devastated because I have some bright blue underlayer color going on and a constantly changing hairstyle. First off, the space is gorgeous. I love the personality of every station. It's just a fun place to be. I have had great experiences, and I've seen multiple stylists for a dramatically angled bob, undercut, blue hair, purple hair, undercut designs, the list goes on. Plus, the prices are incredibly affordable compared to some other salons I've tried. But the best part about it? My stylist moved back and works there! Shout-out to Chelsea, she's amazing. I've previously had mixed experiences here, but this last time was a complete disaster and has ruined this salon for me. I booked online for a full color and full highlight. Hair background: my hair is short (long bob), naturally dirty blonde, but gets dark in the winter, and I've been getting my hair balayaged for about two years. I booked for a full color because I haven't dyed my grow-out in awhile and wanted to lighten my hair and completely remove my dark roots, but also booked for a balayage because I didn't want to lose the look of dimension. I showed my stylist a picture of what I was going for but in no way expected her to match it 100% but did expect her to take into consideration the things I was asking for- lighten, get rid of dark roots, and highlight. My stylist told me I didn't need the all over color and that what I was looking for could be achieved by just a full foil. 5 1/2 hours later we finish and from what I can see (it's dark outside and very dim lighting in the studio) it's lighter. Cool. Everything seemed great. Get home and check it out in my bathroom, in bright lighting, and not only do I have green and grey streaks through my hair but my roots are still extremely dark, but now have bright grey streaks through them. Aside from the streaks there were large horizontal patches of hair that just wasn't died at all. I sent the salon pictures, because my hair actually looked terrible. They apologized and booked me for an appointment a few days later. I was nervous about immediately subjecting my hair to more dye but they said it would be fine and that they would do a conditioning treatment. I go back and the stylist asks if I want to lighten my roots or darken them to even out the highlights...? Lighten. I've been asking for this since the start. I DONT want dark roots. I didn't know how to communicate this any clearer. She then spends 30 ish min putting more foils in my hair. When we go back to wash she puts maybe 5 squirts out of a tiny bottle on my head and leaves it for ~2 minuets then immediately washes out. I finish up and am charged $25 for the 2 second conditioning treatment, a service that was supposed to be complimentary due to my first service. My roots are minimally lighter and still patchy- I can't even part my hair where I normally do because there's a huge dark patch. The new blonde was also not matched correctly to the existing blonde so there are speckles of lighter blonde throughout my hair- kinda looked like splatter paint... After reading other reviews, and knowing of good experiences here from family/friends, it sounds like the salon is decent and some of the stylists are really great at what they do, it just depends on who you go see. Overall super disappointed though because I'm out $250 and my hair looks like complete garbage. First two photos are from the initial appointment. I love that you can book appointments online or through the Vagaro app. I've made appointments with several of the stylists to get a shampoo/blowout. My schedule is usually chaotic so it's nice to be able to book something last minute. All of the stylists I've been to have been really nice and do a great job. They have stylists with a range of price points, too, which are listed in the app when you book. I also like that they carry products that are gluten free. With my allergy, I can't even use shampoo with gluten containing ingredients or I'll have a reaction, and sometimes it's hard to find a salon that has more than one shampoo that's safe. They use Kevin Murphy, which I like, but it's very expensive to purchase at the salon ($70 for a shampoo & conditioner). They also always have a beautiful display in the lobby of artisan jewelry and other expensive things. I haven't had my hair cut or colored there yet, but am happy so far with blowouts. read more

I purchased a coupon for some spa services here and completely forgot the expiration date. When I called to explain the information to their receptionist, their esthetician graciously agreed to accept my voucher for the face value. We spoke for a few moments and I ended up booking a back facial. You would probably drive by it if you weren't looking, the storefront is set back slightly from SW Avalon Way. Parking was easy enough, there were several spots right in front. A word of caution though, there is a grade for the lot so take care when you open your door so you don't ding another car. Tiann came out to meet me within minutes of my arrival. She made me feel very welcome and led me back through a series of hallways to the spa area. The room was cozy and comfortable, a nice temperature and quiet. Tianna explained the process before we began and during the facial itself, let me dictate the level of conversation. So, yeah, the back facial. The description was for "a relaxing back, shoulder and upper arm treatment. Includes a thorough cleaning and exfoliation, extractions, massage, steam, treatment mask, toning, and moisturizer. It leaves you feeling hydrated, clean, exfoliated, refreshed, and cleaned to be seen." It was SO relaxing that I nodded off a couple times during the treatment. To me, that's a hallmark of good spa service and afterward, I needed some time to regroup. I didn't feel rushed. Tiann gave me a large glass of water and I relaxed in the lobby for a short while. What else can I mention? Music was nondescript which was perfect. One of my pet peeves is overly new-agey flute music or babbling brook sounds during massages. I know they are suppose to relax you but I find them irritating so they do the absolute opposite. I arrived on a dreary grey day but left feeling like I was radiantly warm from my overall treatment. Ola is the best! I always see Alexa for my cut (blunt bob) and blonde highlights (my natural color is a medium/dark brown), and she is fantastic! Alexa is always very thorough and makes sure you are 100% satisfied with your cut/color, and is great to chat with throughout your appointment! I have never stayed at one salon for more than 4 - 5 years.. but I've been going to Kathy for my hair cuts and Casey for color for over 5 years now, and LOVE them both. My foiling color is always perfect and natural looking, and the tones make me look years younger and blends with the strands of gray that are creeping in... Kathy is a master at cutting and styling. Unlike other cuts where I go home and try to restyle or wash and re-blow out, I always know I can step out of Ola after my cut and go anywhere feeling fabulous. I am 100% satisfied after every appt. I would not listen to the yelp reviews that suggested Avian has the go to stylist here. I WAS an avid fan of this salon. The paintings and relaxed environment-(colors,vintage decorations,etc) are awesome! My usual stylist is Kathy. Her cuts are $40 and shes's a master stylist. Totally worth the price in my opinion cause the service from her is friendly, conversation stays steady and gives professional feedback on your hair, and she doesn't try to push products on you. Based on the reviews I gave Avian a try. She however gave me a deep conidition for my damaged hair without telling me I was going to be charged for it. Her attitude was stand offish and she mentioned wanting to be off work for 4/20. My bangs ending up looking boxy and "momish" and actually uneven! I had spefically asked for a cool 90's retro bang but not a 90's mom. I had to ask for Kathy to fix them. At the end of my cut she pushed a bunch of products on me and when I said I'd check them out at a store later she flatly said I couldn't find them any where but high end salons like Ola. Well the brand of products they sell is l'oreal so I doubt I couldn't find them for cheaper then the salon price. read more

I've been a long time customer of a small salon owner and decided recently to branch out. I asked a co-worker who lives in W Seattle for a recommendation and she suggested Ola. I admit though she does not have the best hair and she couldn't even recommend a specific stylist as she doesn't 'have one'. I booked an appt anyway for a cut and color and told the girl when I scheduled that it was my first time and I needed someone who was good with Asian hair. She assured me she had me with the right person - a guy - and that she noted I had their new customer discount (which was to be 20%). I received a call the day before to confirm my appt and told that they only accept cash for gratuity. This annoyed me all night as I hate places who like to force you into bringing cash for tips 'and' I find that to be very unprofessional to tell people that on the phone. I show up to the salon for my appt and I'm not greeted nor was I helped. There were two 'hostesses' if you will who were standing at the front but they were busy socializing with each other and a different client. I finally waited until they dispersed before I walked back over to try to wave someone down. The interesting thing about this salon is the setup. I was finally greeted by my stylist and sat at his 'station' and then introduced to his 'assistant.' We talked through what kind of cut and style I was looking for and then he got to working on my color mix. He wasn't a bad guy and the conversation flowed pretty easily for the most part. It took him about 20 mins or so to 'color' my hair which was really only my crown and then he told me he needed me to move to a side seat as he was going to do a 'quick trim' while my color set. I'm not a huge fan of this as I think it tends to make you feel less special but I had no choice. I was sat not under a dryer but just in the corner - for about 35-40 mins. Thankfully I had my phone so I could at least surf the web and try to entertain myself. Don't even bother trying to read the magazines as I think some of them were literally from last year. The assistant came and got me to go rinse out my color. A few things to note here: The 'wash' felt like I was being patted down and not washed at all. My hair is super thick and I was shocked it even washed out any of the product as it didn't seem I was getting a thorough wash. They also don't use 'salon' product in my opinion as my previous salon only uses Pureology (which is also what I use at home). They used L'oreal product. L'oreal. After my 'wash', I was sat to get my hair cut/trimmed and I was hoping this would at least salvage the day. But alas, it was a little bit of a disappointment. He took about 2-3" off my length which is what I was looking for but I didn't feel there was a lot of 'cutting' and the blowdry was pretty much a quick job with a round brush. I didn't leave feeling like I usually do after a cut of "I am going out tonight because my hair looks amazing! Shiny! Clean! Cute" Instead, I got out of the chair feeling like I could've had this same cut/color at a way cheaper salon with "Cuts" or "Clips" in their name. Then I went to the front to pay and the girl didn't take off the new customer discount. I had to argue with her and she told me it was only 10% now vs. the 20% that was previously advertised (ding one star for that). And the total charge 'with' the discount? It was $150 for a cut/color. That was WAY too much for how little color and cut was done. I really wanted to like this place but after all the little things that added up; I can't say that I will be. I guess I'll stick to my original salon because at least I know the quality and products used on my head are ones that have worked. read more

As a Dominican woman, finding a hair stylist is difficult wherever I go (with the exception of the Dominican Republic and Queens) but I get the feeling I may have found a regular go-to at Ola Salon with Julie! My manager and coworker both recommended her and and so I called to schedule an appointment for an express keratin treatment and luckily they had availability on a Saturday afternoon for me! I live in Queen Anne so I opted to take the bus to West Seattle (just one straight shot on the D line for me) and they are conveniently located right off of the bus stop! I was running a few minutes late but Julie didn't seem phased at all and she did a fantastic job on my crazy mane! Really great first experience! My only reconsideration was that my manager said she pays $75 and I was charged $95. They gave me a 10% discount as a new client but it still seems odd. In any case, hopefully the treatment lasts and I will be back in the next couple of months! read more

My long-time hair stylist Opal just switched to this salon and naturally, I had to follow her! Opal is simply the best hairstylist I've had in years and I have lived in New York, Boston and Chicago. She worked for many years at a prestigious downtown salon and ran their training programs. Opal takes my flat, stick-straight hair and gives it volume and movement!! After a cut with her, I feel the need to toss my hair like a shampoo commercial model. She is a perfectionist: because I hate it when my collarbone-length hair flips out where it hits my shoulders, Opal takes a subtle triangle-shaped snippet around my shoulders such that it doesn't flip out. No hair stylist has ever taught me so much about controlling my own hair: she taught me how to blow-dry my hair in under 10 minutes while still controlling the weird flip-out situation. She even taught me how to tease my hair while not looking like a Texas beauty queen. Lastly, she is a delightful person to talk to and remembers everything about your life. Getting a haircut is like catching up with a good friend (who gives really awesome scalp massages). read more

I used to live up the street from this place, and decided to walk on the wild side and not go to my usual stylist of years, as I'd just moved an hour away from her. I scheduled at Ola with a stylist who had numerous good internet reviews, and walked to my appointment in the lovely early fall evening. Nice creative atmosphere in there, and I am sure this stylist has done wonderful things for many other clients, but she gave me helmety soccer mom hair. It was bad. I timed the haircut for the fact that I had to do an audition video the next day. It sucked to be all news anchor page-boyed. Well, she was fast and confident and the conversation was good, and that may be why I walked right on out of there without feeling like I could ask her to fix it. I've been going to Ola for years and have had only great experiences. Kaycee (color) and Kathy (cut) are my current hair professionals and they are DA BOMB..adore them both! I've followed Kaycee from her old GJ days. Have also seen a few other stylists and have had nothing but great experiences--Jedediah and Dawn were both great. This salon offers fantastic spa services as well - Tiann is a masterful aesthetician and massage therapist. And Michelle does great with lash extensions. Outstanding front desk peeps as well--great customer service and very knowledgeable. But it's not just the skills and product, it's the *experience*. I went to Ola for several years until my stylist moved away :(. I have very curly hair that is challenging and frizzy. She was the first to tame it. Ola is a very nice funky salon. They use high-end bumble & bumble products, always offer tea/coffee/water - its overall a very fun and relaxing place to be. Finding it the first time can be a bit challenging - but you'll find it, I promise! Its well worth the warm greeting and the warm cup of tea to sip while your scalp is massaged and you gossip for a hour while your hair is cut to prefection! read more

Soft touch by professional facialist in the most soothing ambience-part Jane/part treatment. Look at the skin of the person giving you the treatment and you will never go anywhere else. I am at an age when I need to look younger, feel better and be around only stellar people. Jane wraps that up in one package. She works intelligently and intuitively creating excellent results. Jane's touch, one of the most important parts, is light and professonal, yet deep when you need it. You get that she really cares that you have a great experience. Book through Ola for a treat you deserve. Sometimes at a facial, you will get a hard sell for additional treatments or products you don't need. Jane doesn't do that and you end up dying to know what she used. It is three months later and Jane does accupressure face lifts. That is right, non surgical face lifts that will transfer you to another dimension. She really, really, has the touch. Set up a last minute appointment with Ross. It was his last appt. of the day (on a Friday nonetheless) so I thought for sure he'd be in a rush... But he was the exact opposite. Never have I gotten my hair done and felt so much at ease with the stylist. It was like Ross and I had been friends for years. On top of his great personality he made my hair look fabulous! He took all my comments and gave me exactly what I wanted. He then took the time to teach me how to style. By the time I was done, my hair looked perfect and had been there way past closing.
