In 1982, 17 acres were added to the original 25 and, in 1996, 12 more were added for a total of 54 acres. The Biloxi National Cemetery Monument is approximately 30 feet tall and 10 feet in diameter; it was erected in May 1941 to commemorate all who have served their country. Everything that my family wanted was detailed and executed to perfection. Last minute we asked that pictures were not taken and a person from the mortuary team stood by to ensure that this did not happen. We placed special items with our brother and through shakey hands and blurred vision the team helped me and did not put up any resistance. They ensured that his clothing was perfect, they helped me place his glasses on him and stood by without complaint as I checked and double checked that everything was how my family expected it to be. They patiently helped us every step of the way. This is a hard review to write, an unexpected and painful review to write but also necessary. I am hopeful that you will not need their services, but in the event that you do, expect perfection. The pastor gave a beautiful eulogy, the service was heartbreakingly amazing and beautiful. I watched from the time our brother was pushed past me in the sanctuary before grieving family and friends arrived to the moments that he was laid to his final resting place, and he was handled with care. We were not rushed to grieve and not a second felt hurried. In such a heavy time of distress and sorrow, they came through for my family and we will forever be grateful to them. She had already picked out her funeral home in Denver and that director told me exactly what to ask for from the MS home to get her back to Denver in the correct condition. Paster Hartwell upcharged the flight & tried to make us take a Delta flight with a connection (cause his son works for Delta) instead of a direct flight with SW that was less expensive. In total he charged us about 2k over what it should have been solely cause he already had her body since they picked her up from the hospital. And when she finally got to her Denver funeral home, her body was not in a good condition. Hartwell was so busy adding charges but not preserving the body as he should have. My cousin who lives in Gulfport picked this place but I would have definitely done some better research and got a quote before I agreed to them picking up my Grandmother's body. And to add insult to injury they told me they would FedEx the death certificates. They folded 4 official death certificates in a letter size envelope and mailed them with a stamp. Officially documents with permanent creases in the paper. When I questioned them about that they LIED and said that's how the county sent them. Sadly, I've had enough people die to know ALL death certificates come in a document envelope with no folds. Maybe for the folks in Gulfport his service works for them but when he thinks you have money, he will gauge you. Please get a proper quote before you allow them to take procession of your loved one.
