So the over all experience was awesome. Barbershop was very nice and clean. Now the finished…read moreproduct. The haircut. . . The whole time I was on my way I thought I was going to get a haircut from Eric.( I'm from out of town) Reason being is because I called the day prior to schedule an appt with him and I was just told to show up @ 9 AM which I did along with my friend. When we walked in we told em we were looking for Eric. Shawn said, naa he ain't in but I can get you. So based off the Instagram page the haircuts looked smooth so we went ahead and went with it. Blasé blasé we get our haircut. So when my cut was done I briefly look at it in the mirror and well let's just say he didn't comb my hair and I couldn't see my actual full haircut. So I tried to check out the fade and from a distant it looked okay. Now mind you it's a comb over hard part. With a low fade. When I say hard part my hard part now looks like a freeway. So haircut is done I look at it. I'm not content and at this point I had already accepted my hair is jacked up. But i didn't want to be rude because I know there was no fixing. . . But i didn't think I was that bad. I just figured it was a small smudge I'll survive. But when I got home showered and attempted to comb it!?!?!! I know have to shave my head cuz of how think my hard part is and it's unacceptable. The fading I can try and fix with another barber but I shouldn't have to go to another barber to get my fade blended properly. And that was my experience.

Eric is the best barber in the State. Experienced in all…read morehair types and textures. He really focuses on hair CARE and not just the haircut. Kid friendly! The Shop is clean and Barbers well mannered and professional. I recommend you make an appointment as all Barbers are usually booked.

Bad review for Nick at Derby City Chop Shop:…read more I've been going to Derby City Chop Shop for a while and usually work with Patrik, who has always been great. Today I called because the online booking system was not working for me, and I was trying to make an appointment. Nick answered the phone and immediately acted annoyed that I even called. Instead of helping, he told me my phone was "the only phone in the world" not working and basically blamed me for the issue. When I asked if there was another way to schedule an appointment, he cut me off and said, "Listen buddy, I don't have time for this right now. Can you come in in 15 minutes or not?" The entire conversation was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional from start to finish. I even had to ask multiple times just to get his name because he refused to give it at first. I can honestly say after that interaction, I would never let Nick anywhere near my hair with a pair of scissors. Customer service like that is unacceptable, especially for someone representing a business people are supposed to feel comfortable walking into.

It's simple. Their model is such that their barbers might have a feeling that their time is more…read morevaluable than the people paying to have their hair cut. Timeline: check the website to join their queue. It says 30-45 mins. Great. Hopped in line at 12:30. Arrived at 12:45 (because it says to be early). At 12:55 the barber that was taking walk-ins finished a cut. I didn't get his name, but some "adult" that dressed like a 13 year old in a hat. He looked at me, scrolled his little tablet thing then proceeded to the back for 30 mins or so to eat beefaroni or whatever lunchable his mom packed for him. The other guys who apparently take appointments only couldn't be bothered. At 1:30 a different barber who finished another cut brought me back and cut my hair. Did a fine job. The problem is a certain level of customer service. We all get that kids gotta eat, but have the system adjust to an hour wait so other people that have stuff to do can plan accordingly. I know LEO weekly or whatever says it's a fantastic highlands spot, but plenty of good old-school barbers can remove hair from a person's head without the customer being made to feel like they're inconveniencing the gentle talent that works there. Oh well. I'm confident this entitled establishment has plenty of suckers to pay for a $30 haircut so they can say they got it at the 'cool place'
