Not only is there a wide range of specialism and experience among the doctors, but the nursing team working on health maintainance and preventative medicine is probably as good as it gets. I consider myself so fortunate, especially when considering those in other parts of the world and even in our own country who do not have access to such excellent care. Today, for example, I rang for an apt - arrived ten minutes early and saw the doctor actually at the appt time! That isn't always possible of course, but it is rare these days to be sitting waiting for hours. So thumbs up for our surgery!

It was very distressing for them to see their tiny baby so unwell and having to be subjected to blood tests and drips, at such a tender age. Happily she is now safely back at home; the situation was made easier for them because of the great care they received - they couldn't speak highly enough about the excellent staff who seemed to understand, and anticipate, everything they were going through. It's tough when hospitals in the UK get such bad press resulting in patients and visitors feeling even more anxious about levels of service or potentially worrying infections. So it's worth giving credit when one has a good experience. When I visited here, although I found it to be quite old-fashioned and had quite a long wait, the staff were pleasant and I was quite impressed (although not necessarily a guaranteed solution) at the obligatory gel hand-cleaning dispensers that had to be used before setting-foot beyond reception. I was happy and relieved to hear such heart-warming comments from my neighbours during such a distressing time.

So a patient's word counts for nothing, if your title is Dr you can falsify patient records and your employer will support you. I find this so insane, Veronica's claim doesn't sound plausible, doesnt have a ring of truth and is just plain unbelievable. She and the hospital know they are putting my health at risk by denying me the care to which I am entitled. I wouldnt care if I wasnt forced to fund this charade; but we pay the salaries of the people who literally hate us and want us dead.

Sat in the Emergency/Urgent care waiting area for four hours before I was told there is no treatment for my symptoms and just sent home. I told the receptionist I was there because I thought I had the flu. I told the healthcare professional that took my temperature and blood pressure that I was there because I thought I had the flu. Neither of them told me that they don't treat my symptoms. It wasn't until I saw a doctor after four hours of waiting that I was told there is nothing to be done about the flu. The doctor was rude, too. I told him I didn't go to class because I didn't want to get anyone sick. He said, "So you came here to get the doctor sick?" THE DOCTOR IS WHO YOU SEE WHEN YOU ARE SICK. THAT IS YOUR JOB. He asked what I ate that day and the judged what I had to eat that day, "It's pretty odd to be eating that" when I'm feeling this way (Ok, so I'll starve myself. Oh wait, already did that in the waiting room). I left with nothing to help me feel better and humiliated enough to want to kill myself :)

He is intellectually not equipped to hold a consultation with a patient. Lacks emotional intelligence also. "My love" is not how to address a patient in a conversation. I have left the Hospital outraged about his dismissive from of advising me as a patient, not to forget to mention that he gave me a cancer scare. Before mis-diagnosing a fibroid as cancer... might be worth asking the patient if she has experience undesired, rapid weight loss.?! I regret having seen him and can say for sure, my therapy plan or outcome would have been different, have I seen a different doctor.

It was as you would expect of an A&E room I guess extremely dramatic. I felt like I was in a soap. I forgot my form and only had it in pdf on my phone, no problem! They let me email them it and they printed it off for me, no stress. I was seen within twenty seconds of my form being printed out. Unbelievable service it was excellent. The nurse that took my blood was polite and great at taking blood. All over the Christmas period where the NHS is getting slammed. Thank you!!!!!

This hospital marks the place where I was diagnosed with a chronic condition, so my feelings are especially poignant. Nonetheless, during my multiple teenage stays, my mother would lovingly sneak in whatever gorgeous deli snacks were available in the the locale, so you can't really fault the area though the hospital itself was grim. However no NHS hospital visit has ever been a truly joyous experience!

When my mom fell and broke her hand while we were on vacation, we looked for just a walk-in urgent…read morecare clinic for her to go to, but found that they were inside the hospitals in England. We had a full day + a travel day left in our trip, so wanted to get it take care of as soon as possible. Unfortunately, St. Thomas was unable to help us due to their absolutely extreme and unacceptable wait times. We arrived around 8 PM and waited in an outdoor but tented queue for about 45 minutes before being checked in to the emergency room. Signage was not very clear, so we really weren't sure we were in the right place until we got to the front of the line. There were people in line with us with all types of absolutely terrible ailments, and a few that looked like they needed to be lying down, or at least sitting, but all wheelchairs were full. When we finally made it inside, a lovely nurse named Elle checked us in. She was fantastic and so helpful and friendly. She took some notes down, and offered medication if needed. We sat for about 20 more minutes before being called to another station where we told another person all the same things, and were sent down the hall to "urgent care" where they warned us it would be a 3-4 hour wait. And there we sat. And sat. And sat for about 3.5 hours - observing only 4 people being called back, having x-rays, and then coming back to the waiting room to sit. They made several announcements over the intercom during our visit asking people not to ask reception for a wait time update as it only hinders their ability to work through the line. I believe we only saw 2 people leave with, what appeared to be, a solution to their injury. After nearly 4 hours and absolutely no end in sight, we decided to call it quits, and try to wait and seek help when we returned to the States. Before we left, the receptionist had us go in and speak to the nurse practitioner on-duty who gave us some tips and a sling. She was lovely as well, and seemed sorry that she wasn't able to help us. I know that England's healthcare system plays a role in the terrible experience that we received here, but we sat in this waiting room for hours in hard plastic chairs (still with plastic walls separating them, by the way, making it impossible to talk to the person next to you), and the water jug was completely empty. The ER waiting room had vending machines, so I ended up going back there at one point to get a drink, but my goodness, they aren't even providing the bare minimum here. My mom was in a lot of pain, but there were people here with all sorts of wounds, waiting all night just for a few stitches. After returning home to the US, my mom was able to visit an urgent care and only wait about 15 minutes to see a doctor. She's all squared away now (or on the way to it, at least) but this is such an extremely terrible way to do things as she was in a lot of pain for days.

My elderly mother started to come into Watford General, a lot from the start of the covid…read morepandemic. She would come into the hospital with a small urine infection, otherwise okay in herself, and then weeks later, still there with delerium and it did not get bette,r till I got her back home. Care for her in this hospital ,was not always what I would have liked for my elderly loved one. I was her full-time carer and managing her syptoms well in her home. We tried to avoid the hospital ,because so many times , mum actually got worse in there. She would go in for one thing, urine infection, pace maker and weeks later still stuck there suffering with delerium. During july 2023 we had to give in , and take her down with chronic hypoxia symptoms. Quickly dispelled from resus, she was admitted in with a urine infection and after a week almost sent home without treating the Hypoxia. I so wish I had just taken her home but I was trying to help her get the seizures sorted out. She begged me to take her home as the staff were tipping her up and down in the bed and her stats were all over the place. Her time was up after a month and They sent her to a care home against her and my will, and in the care home they were woefully inept at managing her symptoms and at some point she started to a point of no return. Left in the bed on her own, fed food lying down ,when she had a hiatus hernia. She was physically sick and never could eat or drink again. Admitted back into A and E. The stroke unit refused to see her, and she had a massive stroke,whilst being injected with fluids. I saw it all happening, and it was as if she was being excecuted. The drs on the ward that day surrounded me, and stopped me being with her in her last breaths. They asked, what did your mother come in for originally? They were clearly frightened. So I now have ptsd from that day. Questions-why did the hospital send my mother to a care home who couldnt look after her? Why did the nurses on the ward not manage her hypoxia better? I am quite happy to blame Watford hospital but I blame myself more for sending her to you.

I was quite shocked, as I have been living in the UK for so many years now and this is the first time that this has happened to me. I believe that the fact that I am not originally English gave them the right to assume that I did not have any knowledge of the English language and that I required an interpreter during my visit. I would also like to point out that I did actually graduated in Interpreting and Translation myself in my home country and I honestly find such behaviour from the hospital staff quite concerning and offensive. The doctor who visited me was also incredibly rude and patronising; when I refused to take off my clothes as she asked me, as I only wanted some of my body parts to be examined during the visit, she kept making nasty remarks and wasn't even paying attention to what I was saying. In the end the doctor told me I was "free to escape" (using these exact words), which I found totally inappropriate. After this bad experience, I genuinely hope I will never come across that doctor again.
