Before you do ANYTHING and I mean ANYTHING AT ALL, have them show you the propeller regardless if there is a swim deck on the boat or not BEFORE you SIGN ANYTHING AT ALL OR TAKE IT OUT IN THE WATER. Trust me, it will save you in the end. DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING UNTIL YOU HAVE READ EVERYTHING ON THE PAPER AND HAVE SEEN EVERYTHING! We ended up paying for a new propeller that "was broken" and which ended up not being the cause of us stranded in the water. According to one of the employees who opened up the motor and I quote "You are fine, it's nothing. It's just the pin." He then yelled across the parking lot to the owner "it's not the drive, it's the pin in the transmission. We just need a new pin." The owner's response "I still need to put a new prop on it." Again, we were told by the employee we were not at fault. The owner then removed the 3 blade prop, removed the plastic sheath, said that part was fine. He did not charge us for a new plastic sheath and then put a 4 blade prop on the motor, which we were charged for. Apparently after we left, they replaced the pin as we saw the same boat in the water a few hours later. So for the frustration and dishonesty from the owner, if you still rent from them, DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING UNTIL YOU QUESTION EVERYTHING AND TAKE A PICTURE TO COVER YOUR BUTT. Do not trust and take your business else where.

My boat had a shifting problem for close to 5 years since I bought it and a different boat repair…read moreplace said it was impossible to fix the problem because parts were no longer made to fix the issue. Turns out that wasn't correct at all. Findley Lake Marine was able to fix exactly what was wrong and no new parts were needed. It had something to do with an electronic component that needed to be adjusted along with the shift linkage. One of the staff explained in detail the situation I was in and how they were able to fix it. The boat runs better now than it ever has and almost feels like a brand new boat! I initially sat at the front of the boat, but I could not hear the narration, so I moved to the back. The information was interesting and I enjoyed the views. The tour had a large, separate group in attendance. One person in their group distributed tickets one at a time when it was time to board, while people not in their group were already queued and waiting to board. It would have been better for those not in the group to have the group distribute tickets before boarding to not hold up the line. I went to the booth the previous evening, Friday, for the 8 p.m. sunset cruise. I was disappointed to learn there was only one ticket left, when we had two people. I regretted not booking online earlier (mostly because I didn't want to pay a ticket fee). I called earlier around 3 p.m. to confirm the departure time; it would have been nice if the person advised me to get a ticket early.

My parents own a house on lake Chautauqua in New York. It was my Mommaship's dream to own a house…read moreup here where our entire family could congregate for vacations and holidays. Three years ago, they finally found the perfect property - located in the cute little community of Lakewood - and, officially became the owners of multiple homes. Lake Chautauqua is surprisingly idyllic - set in the finger lakes of southwestern New York - it is surrounded by wineries and cute little communities like Bemis Point and Jamestown (which was the birthplace of Lucille Ball.) It's about 40 miles east of Erie, PA and 80 miles south of Buffalo; it is also easy to get to from Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and New York City. The lake it's self is about ten miles long and is great for fishing, boating, tubing and other variety of water sports. The Chautauqua Institute is nearby - hosting concerts and a series of high profile speakers (Al Gore, Jane Goodall most recently) throughout the year. The community of Lilydale is host to a psychic community (and, fairy houses) which is renowned throughout the country - a little wacky, if you ask me, but very interesting to visit. Year round it is a beautiful place to live: the colors in the fall are amazing, winter brings lots of ice fishing, skiing and such, spring and summer are big tourist times here. Frankly, the only time I am truly relaxed is for the two weeks of vacation I get to take with my family (yes, I know I am a dork for liking to hang out with my family on vacation.) We sleep late, eat well, sit around on the boat or deck reading/playing cards/staring at the mote in the middle distance, drink wine and just chillax. It's wonderful.
