I took my kids. 5 and 7 It was amazing, even though there were no other people on the boat considered it was a Sunday. They did a great job, amazing little show on the water. All the actors were great and the experience was unique. My kids loved it, and the show was entertaining and the comedy was great for adults and kids. I was VERY excited for this journey, and it's possible that my expectations were too high. The boat felt crowded and with high sides, it made it hard to see the view. Between being bombarded with water cannons and worrying that the kiddos would slip and slide all over the place on the boat, I couldn't really relax. That being said, many of the kids had a blast. I did see a few that were scared and/or too shy to participate, so something to keep in mind for your own child. The performers were delightful, aside from an ornery bartender (not sure if that was part of the act or not), and I really appreciated their efforts in bringing the little Pirates together for some fun. Overall, this isn't a trip we'd take again, but if you have a little one who's a big Pirate fan, this will be a great fit for your family! read more

We weren't on the kids trip - evening cruise with all adults. Sadly we weren't in squirt gun mode nor were we attacked by the John boat. So much the better! I've heard about this cruise the last year or so but finally went when we took a spur of the moment trip to Erie. This is a well run, well thought out cruise that both kids and adults will find fun. They are currently running at half capacity, so there are only about 40 people max per cruise. I think it actually made the experience more enjoyable because there were never crowds to see the action and it didn't take long for the activities. They do require masks (unless you are eating or drinking). There is seating around the perimeter of the boat and near the flagpole in the center. If you choose center seats, you'll need to move every time there is a part of the show, so keep that in mind. The actors were amazing. Totally played the part through and through and really hammed it up. They were phenomenal with the kids, too. Aside from the story telling action, the kids can get a "tattoo" on their arm and participate in a squirt gun battle (which replaces the water cannon battle of previous years). The captain even invites each party up to help drive the boat! (And sanitizes the handrail and area inbetween each group). Snacks, kid friendly and adult beverages are available for purchase on board (so make sure you have some cash on hand) Overall, it was an awesome experience and I highly recommend it to anyone with kids who are visiting the Erie area. read more

It's a 90 minute boat ride around Lake Erie with an interactive pirate show that even I was participating in!! The crew is funny, the ride was smooth and the fun level high! I would go again anytime! We took the kids up to presque isle for a couple day vacation. We booked a 10:30am pirate cruise. This was an absolute blast! The pirates kept the kids engaged. There was a story line and a full blown water fight with the other single boat with the bad pirate. You can buy a few snacks and drinks on the boat. Kids absolutely loved it! read more

The Scallywag was a blast!! The crew were amazing and kept the children's interest during the whole sail. They had a storyline that kept going throughout the sail and activities for the adults (open bar) and children alike. Be prepared to get a little wet as the adventure can take a wet turn at anytime!! Childrens were also given the opportunity to sail the boat and the Captain was just so accommodating!! At the end of the sail children could pick treasures from the treasure chest!!! We went to Scallywags after seeing it was starting a cruise in 10 minutes. It's absolutely worth every penny. The crew is extremely friendly and very out going. The boat is awesome and very spacious. The story you play along with it is also extremely funny and family friendly. If you're looking for a 1.5-2hr adventure in the Lake Erie area.l, this is it hands down. Also it's fun to do even in the rain! It ended up raining and the crew handled it so well, that it almost would be more fun next time in the rain because of their acting. read more

We were on our way to play mini golf but ended up passing this and seen people getting on and changed our minds last min. We passed it up last year bc the price did seem kinda high $20 per person even kids $10 for 2 n under. I have a family of 5 with a child under 2. Any way at first I thought it was just a boat ride. It turned out so much more than that and so glad we got to experience this. The crew was amazing and so interactive with the kids. We went on the 1030 curise and my kids have been talking about it all day. 90 mins long seemed to be just about perfect and they kept the kids engaged the whole time they couldn't get enough. Will defiantly try it again when youngest is a little older. And if you haven't done it I would highly recommend it at least once. read more

This looks like a tourist trap but I promise, your kid will be talking about this for weeks. The actors are amazing and lead fun activities for the kids. I had to reassure my four-year-old that we were not, in fact, getting attacked by a real "bad pirate," that's how real it was to him. Kids 8 and under will have a blast, and parents can get blasted at the bar. With water gun fights with an enemy pirate who steals your treasure map, fun games and dances and prizes and pirate tattoos, and beverages and laughs for the grown ups, this is well worth the $20pp. They could charge more. Make sure to bring cash to tip the amazing actors - we ran across to the ATM at Sheraton, so FYI that's an option, but you'll want to tip these folks. It's a fantastic experience for the 3-8 set and parents. read more

We took a short vacation to Erie this week and before we went I had looked at things to do. Then booked a time for us to go. When we went we drove right past where you get tickets and parked by the bicentennial tower. It was a short walk to the boat, but not a big deal. We boarded the boat with a 12 year old boy and a 15 year old daughter (who has down syndrome). The crew were all very understanding with our daughter and we're entertaining overall. You get into water fights with "a bad pirate" who at the beginning"steals" the treasure map. Even my biggest child (my husband) participated in the water battles and enjoyed it. They do have refreshments available for purchase while on the adventure. At the end of the cruise all the pirates share in the"treasure". Temporary tattoos and face painting are also done during the adventure. And there's a bathroom on board read more
