There are many large sculptures throughout the gardens, they are all labeled with the name of the work, the artist and the material. There is a large market with sculptures of all sizes for sale. The exhibit is so large it is only displayed in one location per year. While we were there, there were two sculptors working on new pieces, both took the time to speak with us. Love is in the air at the Bonnet House, while we were there they were setting up for a wedding and we saw a proposal. A beautiful setting for both. They have special events throughout the year, including an orchid show and Christmas holiday wonderland. Guided and self guided house tours are available,$30-40, we opted for the grounds tour only, $15. The gardens are well shaded so even on a warm day our visit was comfortable.

We only had General Admission tickets which required us to be here at least 90 minutes before showtime. Priority Seating allows you to arrive 45 minutes before showing and gets you in before the general ticket holders. They only sell 100 of the Priority Seating tickets per show and the theater seats 243 people. We had gotten there about 2 hours before showtime and there were already people in line. The best seats to see this are up high and in the center. We didn't get those seats since they were all taken. I've never been here for a movie and thought the screen would extend out to the sides. The movies are projected floor to ceiling so that you see more of the picture. There were some part of the movie where my husband said that he felt a little dizzy. I wish that they had assigned seating so that you didn't have to get there so early to get the best seats. I would suggest that if you're seeing a movie here, that you pay a little extra and get Priority Seating tickets.

The exhibit is whole was really interesting. We spent a lot of time there. One aspect I didn't like was that you have to scan your finger print with your name to make an "avatar" to activate some of the activities. I don't like giving my finger prints or my sons when we don't know what will be done with that information after the exhibit ends so some of the activities we couldn't do. And for the ones we could do some of them were broken. Still had a lot of fun in this exhibit. Highly interactive. Ends September 7 2026 A lot of the permanent exhibits were the same at 2020 which was cool to see my son interact and compare it to how he was as a babe. Again some of the exhibits were under maintenance but it didn't stop us from having a good time. My son loved observing the baby gators and learning more about them and some of the other Florida wildlife. The outdoor exhibit was interesting but some of the instruments/activities were metal and were HOT from the sun. Still nice to get a little sun and lots of shade. There was a good crowd but not too crowded Only critique is that there were two lines for tickets but nothing that designated what line was for what so a lot of people were in the member services line when we just wanted general admission. Other than that it was a great experience. There's parking right across the street in the garage and there's a bunch of restaurants to walk to nearby including a really cute restaurant next door called Emily's garden to get lunch and gelato. Highly suggest bringing refillable water bottles. You'll be in there for about 2-3 hrs if you take your time in each exhibit. We opted out of the holographic theater and the center kids play area but those would be fun to try when we go back

They recently started offering free tours for locals on Wednesdays, so I decided to take advantage. It's a free self-guided tour, and they give you an audio device that gives you all the information on each room. The volunteer who checked me in was super sweet. Stranahan House is the oldest structure in Broward County, and I really enjoyed learning more about the history of the area, and especially about Ivy Stranahan's activism. It really gave me a new appreciation for the area. My favorite part was the upstairs porch, with a beautiful, relaxing view of the New River. I took the volunteer's advice and sat up there for a minute enjoying it instead of rushing through, and I'm so glad I did. Be aware that upstairs isn't air conditioned, so half of the tour is really hot. Dress accordingly or bring a fan! Overall, I'd highly recommend stopping by! It's something fun to do that's a nice change of pace.

What a great deal!…read more The museum features a variety of art styles and formats, and has exhibits that switch out often so there's always something new to see. They also had a free craft area for kids, and I saw kids doing some sort of art scavenger hunt. There's a café that has specials on the free days as well. I believe it was 2-for-1. The whole first floor was shut down (I assume for building a new exhibit), so I was only able to see about half of the museum. This didn't bother me since my admission was free, but I would've been pretty annoyed if I had paid for a full-price ticket. Even on a normal day, admission is relatively cheap. It's a fun, unique activity and a great way to beat the heat!

Especiallu the scupture tutled "when words become objects"... featuring large scale interactive sculptures , light installations, projection mapping and more.. its a great event to take in art in an alternative form. You whisper into the center of the disk. Your friend, who is shouting distance away, can hear you whispering as if you were standing right next to them. It will FREAK you out the first time you try it. But do try it. Take all of your friends there. Use the dishes to convey your deepest darkest secrets. Just don't pass them by the next time you are Downtown. I've only ever visited them at night, thus the subpar photos. Perhaps you can visit during the day and get some better ones! Enjoy =] Oh, and I did a little research - apparently they've been there since about 1991 - before the Museum of Science! A fully volunteer-run museum, and the only military museum in Broward County. It is completely free to visit, and they accept donations. We spent about an hour there, we had a wonderful time and learned a lot from our guide, and there is so much there that we could have spent more hours looking at everything. We definitely plan to be back, and encourage everyone who is able, to make a donation to ensure this place and its important legacy can continue for generations to come!

They offer free entry, free parking, and free tours! Gary was our tour guide and he is amazing! So much history & his stories! He was great! We spent about 3 hours with him and left with so much appreciation for what they did. This is an all volunteer museum so make sure to donate! Former President George H. W. Bush Sr was stationed here during his military service, graduated in 1943. There is a room dedicated to him and his time there! Lots of details! He even stopped by and signed a part of the wall! We can see pics of a young Barbara too! There is so much history here! There is a flight simulator training, vintage models/artifacts, uniforms, etc. Flight 19 that disappeared in Bermuda was from here. It is packed to the brim with memoribilia. Gary told us they have so many items, but can't display it all. The museum building is the only original building left of over 200 buildings of the base complex when it was used from 1942 to 1946. This base made a big impact on the growth of Southern Florida and is now the Ft Lauderdale - Hollywood International Airport. They have a private parking lot adjacent to the museum. Definitely recommended!

I was creeped out by the Native American mannequin holding the gun on the second floor. There was so much to read I just couldn't keep up with everything. The floors are the original Dade County pine wood like Old... ...Davie School and everything is still originally built except for the electric and water running thru the building. The third floor had a beautiful painting display in 3 different rooms and there was a model.... ....room of what this building should've looked like during it's early motel era. I was told customers only paid around $2 to spend the night here which was alot back in those days. Before you tour the building there's a historical short film about Fort Lauderdale in the lobby downstairs which was exciting. Only downfall, you have to pay for parking outside. Another thing was, none of the staff... ...told me that there were two more houses outside to look at, everyone stayed quiet. I was charged my $3 with food stamps to see this. But I'd recommend you ask what is available to see before going on your own.
