I got the sandwich, fries, and Chorizo Croquetas. She apologized for taking a few minutes longer.... Guys we ordered close to close and she made the Chorizo Croquetas for us FROM SCRATCH so that we had our Croquetas. They were so kind and very warm people and it smelled amazing in there. Food was awesome too, could be just hungry but it is some of the best sandwiches I've had. They didnt know it was our first time there and experience was great. Loved this place and will be going back.

    Cuban and the "Chick" sammiches.

Delicious! Were the first words my wife and I both exclaimed. She had the Cuban and I ordered the Chick based upon my server's recommendation. The Cuban reportedly was rhe "best one ever" and my sammich was exactly as described: breaded chicken with a mildly warming spice, reasonable amount of tomato, lettuce. We splurged and got their last two pieces of flan, which in the end was way more than two humans could eat. But it was beautiful. Home made, smooth and creamy with a very light caramel base. OMG it was great. We'll likely never be through Hartsville again, but if you like fabulous hole-in-the wall place, do it. Nothing fancy. In fact, the specify is part of its charm.

    Croquettes, ro pavieja,

Atmosphere was SO inviting!! The people are so kind & the food is amazing!! I'm not exaggerating when I tell you that this is the best Cuban food I've ever had!! I was recommended by a friend & she's known for knowing the best places to eat so trust me when I say, you do not wanna miss out on this place!!

What a great hidden place for Hartselle. The owners are from Miami and the food is authentic. They definitely do not skimp on the food and you can tell it's all homemade. The price is very reasonable. I had the Cuban and my wife had the Chick. Hers was better then mine.

Our family absolutely loves this place. We come here frequently and have tried many of the dishes they offer. Everything had been amazing. And the couple that own this restaurant are absolutely precious!

Service at the beginning was quite slow which made us worry a little bit, but once it got going it was exceptionally smooth. We each had two drinks - I had a seasonal sangria and my husband has old fashions. To eat, we had cornbread to start, I had the filet with a side of wagu fries, and my husband had the short rib Wellington. For dessert we had strawberry tres leches. All of the food was exceptional. The flavors were there, the food was cooked perfectly. Price wise we are likely to go for special events only, but will absolutely go back. It was a great space to celebrate four years.

What an amazing experience, we've been here one other time for our anniversary…read more We ordered drinks - The Mars (which our waiter said was popular) and a glass of Prosecco ($9). We ordered the skillet cornbread for appetizer, delicious and perfect for 2-3 people, had corn kernels in it. Our waiter asked if we still wanted the house bread (never turn it down!!), it's a small Parmesan roll w/ herbed butter & WOW! For entrees we ordered the Beef Wellington and the Filet. The filet is served with a Parmesan crisp (deconstructed Caesar salad kind of) and a Demi glaze, perfectly cooked rare to my husbands liking. The flavor was excellent, great cut of meat. The Beef Wellington was a shredded beef wrapped in the pastry dough - w a Demi glaze, sprouts, and mashed potatoes underneath. Amazing depth of flavor, tender meat, and crispy pastry. We ordered the gnocchi as a shared side, literally melts in your mouth coated in butter, mushroom, and herbs, with a slight taste of truffle. Probably my favorite bite but there was so many good ones! Our server was exceptional, and attentive. Boxed up my leftovers for me. We will be back soon

We specifically came for margaritas during their social hour. $3 off a set list plus seasonals. There was a table card listing seasonal drinks. I specifically asked our waitress if the Christmas margarita was considered seasonal. She assured me it was, until we got our check and she said it wasn't. I'm not arguing over $6 but $26 for two watered down drinks was not a social hour deal. It's not a deal anywhere. My husband and I shared the three different empanadas gracing the social hour menu. The chicken was delicious, the beef was ok but the fish was fishy. So much so that I didn't even get to a second bite. We ordered chips, salsa and queso for the group. The chips were great - crisp and airy. The queso was good though unremarkable, the green salsa was great. The red was a tad hot for me but everyone else at the table disagreed with me. Husband and I shared the enchiladas verdes. Three chicken enchiladas were served with a plate of nearly tasteless rice. The enchiladas were dry. Even queso didn't help. I ate half of one and my husband didn't even want my second. We didn't take home the leftover enchilada. That pretty much sums them up - not even worthy of a to-go box. With tip, our check was $90. Way too much for such a mediocre meal. We just walked in the door. Hanging up our jackets, we agreed - we won't go back.

The did the honey sage paloma and asked to go light on the syrup. Highly recommended, tart with a little sweetness and kick. For apps I went with the crawfish and shrimp cake and smoked chicken wings. The crawfish and shrimp cakes are a great idea. The fry was great on the cake. The flavor was a little lost. I thought initially it was the tartar that overpowered the cake and that is partially true. I did try a bite without the tartar and it was still a tad on the bland side. The wings had a great fry and smoke flavor as well. They were a bit overcooked and dry. The Alabama sauce was real good and added needed moisture to the wings. The breading appeared to be fairly heavy, ie the bread to meat ratio was on the bread side. The service was good and very fast, there were just some execution challenges for the food. The menu is real interesting and I'm willing to try some of the other offerings on another visit.

I've eaten here before and wasn't thrilled. Tonight, however, was a complete 180…read more We spent the afternoon at the VBC. We weee hungry and it was pouring buckets. Co/Op was close. I decided to give it another shot. Saturday night, 6pm and the restaurant was nearly empty. I asked for a gluten free menu. They didn't have one. But what they had was even better. Emma, our server, went through every menu item and told me what was safe, what could be modified and what to stay away from. Her knowledge of the menu was stellar and something that's lacking in most restaurants. One of my hang ups during my last visit was being served an old fashioned when I ordered a Sazerac. I asked Emma, who apologized as she told me they were out of absinthe. She not only knew the food menu but also the drink menu. Emma, you are a light in a dining arena full of mediocre. I ordered the scallops and risotto. The plate arrived with 4 large scallops. It's not uncommon for large scallops to be gummy with a soapy, not sweet flavor. My scallops were the exact opposite. They were perfect. The creamy, slightly sweet/slightly salty risotto was the perfect accompaniment. The accompanying broccolini was a miss - it was extremely bitter. Unpleasantly so. My husband had the pot roast ragout. He said it was alright - everything was hot but the potatoes. They were cold - he said it threw him off and just wasn't very enjoyable. He did enjoy the cheese biscuits and the bit of mine that I was willing to share. One way I judge a restaurant is by whether I'd come back. I posed that question to him. He said it was worth another try. Service was on point - Emma was a rock star in my book. The wine and beer were at a perfect temperature and the wine pour was generous. Co/Op is in the Embassy Suites. Parking was easy and free tonight; but, depending on what's going on in town, you can't count on that. Two entrees, two drinks and tip was upward of $120. Expensive? Yes, but the scallops and service were so good that I didn't even blink. Will I be back? Undoubtably.

So this past weekend I went to Festa Italiana it was basically the Italian version of Taco Fest…read more While I did enjoy myself I left with a underwhelming feeling. To start off I will say Italian American Heritage Society of Birmingham, Alabama did a great job with making sure people stayed cool. Besides the food trucks everything was either under tents or under the bridge at Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark. They had free water stations as well as water to purchase. They even had a huge air blower out there keeping people cool. Everyone seemed to be having a great time. Seeing people actually do grape stomping and sauce contest were pretty cool too! Now here is where the food comes in. I was not able to try all the places I wanted to try due to extremely long lines. The 3 places I did try I will talk about now. First up Da Big Italian I ended up getting Da Vinnie and Da Big Italian. Da Vinnie was pretty good the sausage had decent flavor but that was about it. Nothing too crazy. Da Big Italian was extremely underseasoned and it mostly tasted like pickled banana peppers. It apparently had mozzarella cheese in it and I didn't even notice it. Huge let down. Da Vinnie 7/10 Da Big Italian 5/10 Next we have Sliced this was genuinely really good pizza. All the flavors were there like all systems go. I had been wanting to try this place for a long time and just never got to it. Like I have no notes whatsoever so I'm just gonna give my score of an 8.5/10. I will be back for more. Lastly Arnone's Italian Sausage. This was the biggest disappointment because I was super excited to try them. I ordered the Italian Sausage of course. It came with grilled onions and nothing else. Yall when I say this was the most blandist thing I have ever eaten. The sausage had no flavor at all the grilled onions were also flavorless like they used no salt, pepper, Worcester sauce, no nothing. Easy 1/10 I was extremely disappointed. All in all I enjoyed the event and if there is another one I'll be back to try the places I wasn't able to get too. I do not blame the company that put this together for any of the bad food. These guys put on a great show and I can't wait to see more!
