I went here as I'm home due to COVID instead of in the city/Hoboken, NJ. I was optimistic at the place - classic barbershop feel, been around since 1933, and was greeted by John (?) who checked my temperature twice and made sure to sanitize both before and after each haircut. I was impressed and relieved at the safety measures he's STILL enforcing. The haircut itself wasn't up to standard unfortunately. I had to go home and actually "edit" parts of the haircut that he either missed, or forgot about. Specifically, he missed some hair by my ear due to the mask (which he moved around quite a bit in fairness), a large chunk of, now superlong, hair on top, and the "fade" looks quite jagged in places. I dunno if it's because I said I was from out of town, but this guy gave me a terrible haircut. I was totally covered in hair after I left and had to have some significant repairs made when I got home. I definitely could not have gone to work or dinner straight after the cut. read more

I was not sure what I had gotten myself into sitting third in line for a $12 haircut. The other two men seemed to be regulars. The barber did not ask questions. But, when asked, he covered a wide variety of topics including local politics, local weather, medical conditions, literature, and fishing. Each haircut took less than 15 minutes. The barber only takes walk-ins. He is no nonsense and a serious cutter of hair. Each of the guys before me and I asked for different cuts and he delivered to each person's satisfaction. He provides a no thrill haircut, no prewash, no hair blower, no conversational intrusion, just a fast, straight forward and dry haircut.
