Monika, Lubo, and Ema showed their love and affection for my grandma by calling her Babi Rosie, which means granny in Czech. I witnessed Monika being very diligent by taking her Golder Years residents to local community events such as the church festivals, town celebrations, and local art and crafts shows. My favorite activity of all was when the local musicians and singers would come to Golden Years for an intimate concert for both the residents and their families. Many times, during our visits we would hear polka music along with Czech conversations, singing, and laughter while smelling the wonderful aroma of fresh baked bread.
