The amount of lack of consideration for fellow campers is horrendous. There is no one on site to call to ask for reinforcements of the rules. It's currently midnight and I hear people singing across the park. Our neighbors have finally gone to bed or moved to another campsite. The speed of golf carts and those of little kids driving them is crazy. This is a great place if you want to party but if you are looking for quiet peaceful decompression DON'T come here. You'll be even more stressed out.

It's easier to keep an eye on your kids and the park is never over crowded. My son loves bringing his trucks into the sand area and I can sit and relax right next to him on the benches. There are restrooms right next to the playground/baseball fields. The walking trails are wide enough for multiple people to be walking, running and biking without bumping into each other- unlike highland. Overall great place and wish there were more like it in Baton Rouge.

There seems to have been a lot of infrastructure improvements over recent years, there are very nice concrete RV Sites with full hookup, the entrance road into the park is a little rough requiring you to mostly travel at idle speeds. There is a large boat launch and parking lot located before you get to the park's entrance so the traffic pattern inside the park is free of boat trailers and tow vehicles. There are plenty of covered pavilions for picnicking and getting out of the sun as well as a nice concrete area at the end of the park designed for fishing and crabbing and it seemed like a lot of the visitors were here for that. There was absolutely no cellular service on most of the drive in and inside the park so plan ahead, maybe your service provider will have better results. I also recommend you fuel up before coming here I did not see any convenient stores or fueling options along the 18 mile drive once we took the exit off LA90. It's a beautiful setting and seems to be a popular area for boating, fishing and camping with a Louisiana vibe...

The house is staged beautifully and really gives a sense of the history of the property. There were a few buildings to visit, and lots of great signs and displays to learn about the area, the property, and more. The tour is $11 and can be reserved ahead of time or booked online when you're there if spots are available (at a not busy time of year I booked my tour 15 minutes before). If you're looking to tour a house in the area, this is a beautiful one to see and in addition to supporting the national park service on this tour, the price is much cheaper than other houses in the area. This makes it a great way to do a tour if you're not looking to spend too much, especially if you're bringing a family or large group.

I want start by saying this is a beautiful and well maintained State Park - "Louisiana's newest…read morestate park is very interactive with 6 cabins, 95 campsites, 4 picnic pavilion and numerous picnic sites, a visitor center, boat launch, splash park, nature trails, lakes, canoe area" and lot of wildlife roaming around. If you want to take pictures of them you'll need to be ready and alert because they are camera shy - as we crept along the improved roads in stealth mode (our Maverick is a hybrid and when driving slow it's very quiet in electric mode) we saw so much beautiful wildlife but was only able to snap a photo of one lone rabbit. We probably saw a dozen rabbits grazing the wet green grass, a few deer, lots of native birds and a 8 - 10 foot alligator that was crossing the road directly in front of us only to scurry into the swamp like he was being chased by a Cajun Chef looking to prepare a stew. We walked a few trails cautiously after seeing the gator, but the deer flies were active so we abandoned that idea pretty quickly, There is so much to do here and the State has done so many things for visitors to do no matter your age. Being avid RVers we also drove through the camp ground, the sites look level and are gorgeous, most if not have full hookups, it's appears most are gravel but there are a few concrete pads in the mix, of course lots of shade and most are very private. We really enjoyed the few hours we spent here, being this park is very very remote come with everything you need and take out everything you don't need and help keep this park pristine for the wildlife and others to enjoy...

Initially the playground area was kinda lame. Tiny. Little kid centered with not much variety. Upon further inspection the park has a dog park, concrete walking trails and a small water play area. The water play area was great. It was tiny as well but a lot of fun for the kids on a hot day. I found their suits but had to sacrifice a shirt as a towel. Great little spot. Looks to be brand new and the first phase of development. I would expect this park to grow exponentially in the upcoming years. Great spot to burn a couple yrs.

This is a super…read moreclean and newly renovated park that is conveniently located across the street from the Courthouse and Police Department. It also backs up to a very bad part of town which really concerned me. But on a sunny Thursday in August at 1pm it felt safe, was pretty empty and relatively clean (except for some food trash). They have tandem mother/baby swings, a handicap swing, a large play set safe for an able-bodied 3 year old and lots of grass. I would visit again! The pool was surrounded by a chainlink fence and staffed with a lifeguard. Just a few children getting their swimming lessons.
