We made an appointment for our 3 year old but as soon as we arrived it was very obvious that children are not welcome/wanted here. As any child, he was not a fan of wanting the haircut and there was zero effort put in from the stylist therefore no haircut happened. Which is okay, we will try again another day. Not her fault he wouldn't comply, even though I got the feeling no matter what she didn't want anything to do with a child's haircut. What bothers me the most though, I felt invisible & mute... anything I said was not acknowledged from the time we walked in the door to the time I left. I've never felt so unwelcome at an establishment before. If you have children and want the barber experience for them, this is NOT the place. read more

Loved the atmosphere of this place. It does lack the "man's haven" feel as it's more around the gentleman feel. Everything in here is classic and they have great products like Reuzel and Suavacito. I had a cut with Vee and she was awesome! She has a gentle touch and at times I couldn't tell she was even cutting. She spent extra care and time getting my part perfect and cutting it in. According to the website there are 2 barber's. One is not accepting no new clients one is only accepting new military clients. It appears only military are welcome here now unfortunately. This is disappointing. Will try again soon. The new best upscale barber shop in Columbus is the Cave on 13th st. The Cave serves all gentleman, not just military. read more

I am very picky about my hair, and I just moved to the Columbus area and wanted to find a good place to get my hair cut. Well I found it and more! The ambience is amazing! So tastefully decorated with antiques. Service is top notch. Seriously you won't find a friendlier or more capable barber. I get my haircut at barbershops all the time. Salons just don't cut it short enough or fade properly. This place came highly recommended. I was very excited to get my hair cut here before going on leave. I was highly disappointed for being turned away because I'm a female. I've never heard of a men's only barber shop in the many years I've been going to them. Perhaps it's just the south and I am not used to the culture here. However if they ever take females I would be glad to get my hair cut here when they stop the exclusivity and jump into this century. I'm not the only the female who frequents barbershops. Went to this place today. Was able to set up An appointment the same day. Barber was very nice. Told me about different hair shampoo for bed and beard treatment. Tried the beard treatment at home, and beard feels softer. Would recommend this to any person whom wants to pay more for better service. read more

Very neat, old timey setting. All of the staff was very friendly and welcoming. I walked in without an appointment and was sitting in a chair getting my haircut within 5 minutes. The space itself is awesome, the atmosphere is great and the service is top notch. The reviewer complaining about them not giving women's cuts...that's because they specialize in men's cuts and shaves. It's not discrimination, it's a specialty service. Probably the most personal haircut experience I've had in the Columbus/Phenix City area. My barber remembers me and what kind of style of cut I like, which doesn't make it feel like you're just another number. The barber shop has a vintage old school feel and look to it which is an appropriate scenery for downtown and just fits. Had a cut with Rodney recently and was thoroughly impressed. He's a very friendly, positive guy and gives a great haircut. He was very considerate of my (fairly vague) instructions for my haircut, but he was also able to take matters into his own hands when I needed him to. Love the rustic feel of an old firehouse and the fact that Crystal cut me up so well didn't hurt either. She was so genuine and sweet and got me up to speed on the local spots to eat. Had my third cut here this weekend. Three cuts, three different barbers, all were good but the third time was the charm and I found the one I'll go to regularly. This place is awesome. The chairs are restored from the late 1800s and early 1900s and the cash register is an original from the same time period. They've done an outstanding job of replicating that nostalgic feel of an "old school barbershop" to include quality craftsmanship and customer service. Everyone is polite and does a great job.
