A gorgeous church atop a hill overlooking the town. Don't be mistaken as I was by a single sign on the main road and being led to the newer church with the same same. Very limited parking so either park at the very top beside the church if there's a spot, or down lower. It's a nice walk up the hill, not too steep nor far.... gorgeous houses to see enroute the church. PHOTOGRAPHICALLY SPEAKING: Be aware of the weather, clouds, direction of the church when you come. Otherwise, a very lovely gothic church outside with some stone steps in front leading down to a "resting area". Take a wide-angle and a telephoto to capture the details. I wasn't able to go inside as the church was closed.... another trip perhaps?

GREAT PLACE TO HAVE A WEDDING! SIMPLE, ELEGANT AND WITH A INCREDIBLE VIEW! This small deconsecrated Catholic mission from 1888 is on the side of a hill overlooking downtown Tiburon, Belvedere, Corinthian Island and the Bay. You can see Angel Island, San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. A VIEW YOU WON'T SOON FORGET! BREATAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL! The chapel holds approximately 125 guests and is set in the middle of a RARE WILDFLOWER PRESERVE. Originally built to serve railroad families, it is now owned and operated by the Belvedere-Tiburon Landmarks Society that rents it out to appropriate functions . . . . such as weddings! An original stained glass window above the door depicts St. Hilary, patron saint of scholars. The interior walls are of natural redwood. . . so appropriate for northern California. Pair this beautiful little white WEDDING CHAPEL with the historic China Cabin for your RECEPTION and your event is all set! Old St. Hilary's and the China Cabin are just blocks apart. Both operated by the Landmarks Society. For information on rental and availability contact the Landmark's rental office at lmsrentals@sbcglobal.net

Two words: stunning simplicity. I love the architecture of this place. It's an old wooden building with amazing views of Marin. Despite being in Tiburon I don't get a stuffy feeling about it. It's simple and beautiful. The pews are wooden and there's no extraneous artifacts. If I were thinking about getting married, this would be the place. The place was de-consecrated so you don't have tow worry about being Catholic to get married here. The volunteer who was there the last time I went was very pleasant and talked to us for a good 30 minutes. Very pleasant.

I have an amazing husband. The type other girls are jealous of because he's just so fabulous and thoughtful. Last year, we had our first date in Tiburon ... the type of date that lasted 6 hours. When he proposed, we knew we wanted to get married in Tiburon. After some internet research, we found Old St Hilary's. Let me be frank ... if you are looking for a church that will truly WOW you guests, this is the place. In fact, we weren't able to start the ceremony on time because our guests were so busy taking pictures outside, we couldn't wrangle them into the church! The view is nothing short of spectacular. You can see all of downtown Tiburon and the SF skyline. As you drive up the hill, to the church, your breathe will be taken away. A few words of caution: -- the church only holds 120, that includes your wedding party, you minister, your musician. So if you are planning on having a huge wedding, this is not the place. -- there is only 6 parking spots at the church. You will need to rent a parking lot in town and "shuttle" your guests up the hill in a limo. Keep this in mind if you are on a super tight budget. -- this is NOT a catholic church (it was deconsecrated years ago). And the catholic church will NOT recognize a marriage here. You will need to hire a non-denominational minister to perform the ceremony. On the pro side, since this is a national landmark, 50% of your rental fee is considered tax deductible! This is a magical place to celebrate your big day ... and Old St Hilary will be a place your guests will be talking about for years to come!

My wife and I were married here in October 2017. It is a wonderful venue with beautiful views and tons of charm. The staff was pleasant to work with and very responsive. For music, I hired a pianist to play the baby grand piano in the church along with a violin. It sounded great! The space is somewhat limited, so 100 guests might feel very crowded. Also parking is very limited, so we decided to arrange a shuttle service. This inconvenience was a small price to pay considering how reasonably priced Old St. Hilary's was compared to other venues. Bottom line, many people commented that we had the best wedding they ever attended and my wife got the wedding ceremony of her dreams. I highly recommend this venue.

I wouldn't call this vista point a location for extraordinary panoramic views of SF skyline. It's a fairly short hike/trail (10 mins) to get to the church if you are walking from Vistazo Drive. Church only open Sunday from April-October. http://www.marincounty.org/Depts/PK/Divisions/Open-Space/Old-Saint-Hilarys

Named after the church which sits on its lower slopes, the ridgetop at OSH Preserve commands one of, if not *the* best view in the entire Bay Area. How it hasn't found its way onto the tourist circuit (following a brunch at the well-known but overrated Sam's) is beyond me. Indeed, someone is probably going to hate me for spilling the beans on this place. Anyway, there's only about a mile's worth of walking to be had, but plenty of other nearby parks as well to round out your day, including the adjacent, pocket-sized Tiburon Uplands (hey MCOSD, how about a connector trail between the two?), Paradise Beach, and Ring Mountain. But enough from me--best to let the pictures do the talking.

Wow is all I have to say! My friends got married here in October and i was blown away with how quaint yet elegant this little chapel was. It also has amazing views of the bay. It is very intimate yet holds over 100 guests. If you are looking for a unique, charming location for you wedding in the Sausalito area this is it (heck, it almost makes me want to get married again). Parking is a bit of a challenge apparently so my friends arranged for a limo to drive guests to and fro the church from the site of the reception - this worked out very well.

The most beautiful little white church on the hill....breathtaking, ethereal, romantic, quaint, and full of rich history. You can't help but feel moved when you see this church. It is perfect.

Question: Are you exploring your faith? Are you currently a nonbeliever, but you're curious? Are…read moreyou looking for a place you can go to learn more, and feel comfortable asking basic questions? Hard questions? Answer: Please come to Hillside church. The philosophy of Hillside is that all are welcome. No matter where you are on your faith or even if you're a nonbeliever, you are welcome at this church. It is free and open to all those who come through it's doors. This is a place where you can ask the hard questions or the ones you felt perhaps embarrassed to ask. If it's not for you then okay, no worries. We just want to make sure you ghve a welcoming, safe place to explore. The church leadership is top notch. The pastor, Steve Pridemore, is a gifted orator and has insightful sermons. After every sermon, I am always fulfilled and almost always learn something new. The congregation is friendly and diverse. Also noteworthy is that there are about 300+ members which probably makes it one of the largest churches in Marin and certainly Southern Marin. It's also an active church with tons of different ways to get individuals and families involved. The church has an annual trip to a Mexican orphanage that the church has supported for several years. The church has several active small groups that enable the congregation to, as the name implies, focus on topics and conversations among smaller groups of people. This can be huge when somebody is trying to become more actively involved and engaged with the church community and create deeper relationships with the other individuals in the church. Hillside also organizes several retreats throughout the year and participates in the annual leadership Summit. I've personally been to the leadership summit and one of the men's retreats and can attest to how awesome both of these things are. There are also plenty of opportunities to volunteer within the church for the two Sunday services. Volunteer opportunities include ushering, working in one of the many childcare rooms, playing an instrument or singing in the band, working the projector, working with the sound system, getting the coffee ready and all the treats before the congregation shows. I am likely missing several responsibilities here, but you get the point. The church building is made up of two buildings. Both of the buildings, the parking lot area, the playground, and the general landscaping are all nice and tidy. So many churches I've seen have gone failed to keep their church and the surrounding grounds nice and tidy, but hillside has not. There are two buildings to Hillside - the uppermost main building and the lower Annex building. If you were visiting for the first time, be sure to go to the uppermost main building. It's pretty obvious, but just want to be sure you know which one to go to. The doors are all wide-open Sunday mornings and you can pretty easily tell where to go. Still curious? Please message me on Yelp and would be happy to give you more information or even meet you before one of the sermons. See you there.

Ethan introduced to him i was met with an unfriendly and cold greeting. My impression was that he was aiming to succeed the current pastor (which happened soon) and treated anyone, visitors or member as a potential threat to his objective to take over the church leadership. Bad start. I left my handbag there and I went back to pick it up. When a woman member handed to me I could tell it was opened and searched. I had prescription pain medicine to deal with horrible nerve spasms that occur in my vertebrae more and then. She let me know that she found it and became instantly judgmental and critical as if I was some addict. I was deeply offended by the hostility she display and vile criticism she hurled at me -- a decent Christian with seminary training and wide experience in the church on many levels. Afterwards, i never heard from them again and needless to say, I never had an desire to return to this place, especially with Pridemore who lived up to his surname in personality. Very unfortunate. I suggest Martin Covenant or New Life for a genuine loving church true to Jesus.

We had three places to choose from for our wedding and Christ Church was by far the best place imaginable! Nilo and I never dreamed of having a church wedding. We have been together in a committed same sex relationship for 19 years. When the law prohibiting same sex marriage was toppled in June 2013, we knew immediately we wanted to marry in Sausalito as it was the site of one of our first dates back in 1995 and figured prominently in our lives since then. While looking for a venue, we stumbled on Campbell Hall using a Google search. I sent an e-mail to the address listed inquiring about the Hall and within minutes received a response from the rector, Father Chip Larrimore, saying that not only could we use the Hall, we could be married in Christ Church and he would be honored to perform the ceremony. I was floored. Nilo and I, both Catholics, stopped going to Church some years ago. We had no idea the Episcopal Church was so accepting and welcoming. We went to see this incredibly beautiful church last July (2013) and met Father Chip. We knew as soon as we walked in that we would marry there and booked the date for July 4, 2014. We also started attending this beautiful church built in 1882 and became members in January 2014. Neither Nilo nor I had ever experienced such a welcoming community in our lives. We live in South Hayward and drive 57 miles every Sunday to attend Mass there with our new "faith family". While some of the reviewers listed "cons" along with their "pros", I have no "cons" to mention. Everything was incredible. While parking is limited, we hired a shuttle service which was quite reasonable to bring our guests up to the church and take them back. Pure Luxury was the service and they did a wonderful job. It took all the stress out of parking for our guests and they all had a great time on the short ride up the hill. Our reception was held at the Spinnaker Restaurant in Sausalito. Guests parked at Spinnaker and were shuttled to and from the church from there. We used Campbell Hall for lunch for our wedding party and for a short cocktail hour immediately following the wedding before our reception began. The Garden, which is adjacent to the Campbell Hall and across the street from the Church, is so beautiful and the best of our wedding photos were taken there. The entire wedding was everything I dreamed it would be and more. I am attaching some photos of the church and our wedding day there. We videotaped the wedding (although the first 6 minutes were lost...UGH!); the link is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kT0Z_5vJSMQ. Listen to Father Chip's sermon if you want to know how incredible he is as a person and as a priest. I know you will love this church as much as Nilo and I do. 100% recommended for your wedding and if you have never really been into going to church...check it out. You might be as surprised as Nilo and I were by what you find there! Feel free to contact me directly via email at thomasjohnbauer@gmail.com if you have any questions.
