The pastoral leadership has blessed us with their unique ability to present the good news of the bible in spiritual context with the challenges of today. I walked into their sanctuary ten years ago, and am a devoted volunteer both in session and committee outreach today. If you are seeking, if you are looking for a perspective, if you want community that transcends career, this may help you find an answer. WPC has recently completed a ten year renovation plan, culminating in renewed organizational and gathering spaces, as well as much needed structural retrofit. Post-pandemic, the church is launching new streaming hybrid programs and navigating congregational support options in the new normal. Join me in Christ. Peace.

We chose Westminster because it is: 1.) Family friendly -- with a nursery for babies / toddlers , Sunday school for older kids, and very active parent fellowship nights. 2.) Rob (the pastor), Bethany (deputy pastor) and Jeff (children's minister) are all wonderful.

The philosophy of Hillside is that all are welcome. No matter where you are on your faith or even if you're a nonbeliever, you are welcome at this church. It is free and open to all those who come through it's doors. This is a place where you can ask the hard questions or the ones you felt perhaps embarrassed to ask. If it's not for you then okay, no worries. We just want to make sure you ghve a welcoming, safe place to explore. The church leadership is top notch. The pastor, Steve Pridemore, is a gifted orator and has insightful sermons. After every sermon, I am always fulfilled and almost always learn something new. The congregation is friendly and diverse. Also noteworthy is that there are about 300+ members which probably makes it one of the largest churches in Marin and certainly Southern Marin. It's also an active church with tons of different ways to get individuals and families involved. The church has an annual trip to a Mexican orphanage that the church has supported for several years. The church has several active small groups that enable the congregation to, as the name implies, focus on topics and conversations among smaller groups of people. This can be huge when somebody is trying to become more actively involved and engaged with the church community and create deeper relationships with the other individuals in the church. Hillside also organizes several retreats throughout the year and participates in the annual leadership Summit. I've personally been to the leadership summit and one of the men's retreats and can attest to how awesome both of these things are. There are also plenty of opportunities to volunteer within the church for the two Sunday services. Volunteer opportunities include ushering, working in one of the many childcare rooms, playing an instrument or singing in the band, working the projector, working with the sound system, getting the coffee ready and all the treats before the congregation shows. I am likely missing several responsibilities here, but you get the point. The church building is made up of two buildings. Both of the buildings, the parking lot area, the playground, and the general landscaping are all nice and tidy. So many churches I've seen have gone failed to keep their church and the surrounding grounds nice and tidy, but hillside has not. There are two buildings to Hillside - the uppermost main building and the lower Annex building. If you were visiting for the first time, be sure to go to the uppermost main building. It's pretty obvious, but just want to be sure you know which one to go to. The doors are all wide-open Sunday mornings and you can pretty easily tell where to go. Still curious? Please message me on Yelp and would be happy to give you more information or even meet you before one of the sermons. See you there.

We had three places to choose from for our wedding and Christ Church was by far the best place imaginable! Nilo and I never dreamed of having a church wedding. We have been together in a committed same sex relationship for 19 years. When the law prohibiting same sex marriage was toppled in June 2013, we knew immediately we wanted to marry in Sausalito as it was the site of one of our first dates back in 1995 and figured prominently in our lives since then. While looking for a venue, we stumbled on Campbell Hall using a Google search. I sent an e-mail to the address listed inquiring about the Hall and within minutes received a response from the rector, Father Chip Larrimore, saying that not only could we use the Hall, we could be married in Christ Church and he would be honored to perform the ceremony. I was floored. Nilo and I, both Catholics, stopped going to Church some years ago. We had no idea the Episcopal Church was so accepting and welcoming. We went to see this incredibly beautiful church last July (2013) and met Father Chip. We knew as soon as we walked in that we would marry there and booked the date for July 4, 2014. We also started attending this beautiful church built in 1882 and became members in January 2014. Neither Nilo nor I had ever experienced such a welcoming community in our lives. We live in South Hayward and drive 57 miles every Sunday to attend Mass there with our new "faith family". While some of the reviewers listed "cons" along with their "pros", I have no "cons" to mention. Everything was incredible. While parking is limited, we hired a shuttle service which was quite reasonable to bring our guests up to the church and take them back. Pure Luxury was the service and they did a wonderful job. It took all the stress out of parking for our guests and they all had a great time on the short ride up the hill. Our reception was held at the Spinnaker Restaurant in Sausalito. Guests parked at Spinnaker and were shuttled to and from the church from there. We used Campbell Hall for lunch for our wedding party and for a short cocktail hour immediately following the wedding before our reception began. The Garden, which is adjacent to the Campbell Hall and across the street from the Church, is so beautiful and the best of our wedding photos were taken there. The entire wedding was everything I dreamed it would be and more. I am attaching some photos of the church and our wedding day there. We videotaped the wedding (although the first 6 minutes were lost...UGH!); the link is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kT0Z_5vJSMQ. Listen to Father Chip's sermon if you want to know how incredible he is as a person and as a priest. I know you will love this church as much as Nilo and I do. 100% recommended for your wedding and if you have never really been into going to church...check it out. You might be as surprised as Nilo and I were by what you find there! Feel free to contact me directly via email at thomasjohnbauer@gmail.com if you have any questions.

The next Sunday we attended the 8am service and realized that we had found our home. Its been over eight years now, things have changed as they always do but the love of God and the love of each other in the congregation and of Fr. Chip is always present. Its also a fun church! As many smiles and as much laughter as there is quiet prayer and reflection. Fr Chip's sermons are core to our worship. They are of great interest and so often leave you will a very simple message, one that is subtle in the context of the message or story but also one that is easy to take away and to keep for days and maybe longer. If you live in Sausalito or are new in town, come along, I think you will be surprised at how easy it is to sit quietly and to enjoy worship and the gentle fellowship of others. The church's motto is "all are welcome" We truly felt and still feel so very welcomed.
