My husband hired Wade Hall at old time masonry to do a large concrete job for 25k on 2-18-2022, and gave him a deposit of $6250.00. They were supposed to start late May 2022 according to the contract. On Aug 1st, after patiently waiting more than 2 months and hearing every excuse you can imagine from deaths and sickness in the family to emergency surgery, my husband made clear how unhappy he was with all the delays. He angrily asked my husband if he wanted to cancel the contract and promised to refund my deposit in 30 days. He even said he would send it a few days early so that it would arrive by the 1st of Sept. My husband discussed it with me and we decided to cancel. Not surprisingly on Sept. 1st., not only did we get no check but we got yet another excuse and a promise to send the check on the 9th of Sept. My husband texted him on Friday the 9th and asked if it was going out in the mail that day and Wade said "it will". On Monday the 12th Wade called my husband with yet another excuse and said it would go out on Friday the 16th. My husband told him that he had better have the check or cash in his hand by Wed. the 14th at 3pm or else. He did give him clues as to what "or else" would entail but Wade kept arguing that it couldn't be done before Fri the 16th. My husband said "you have until Wed. at 3pm., goodbye" and hung up the phone. When my husband woke up at 12:45 pm on Wed, he saw that he had a text message from wade at 7:59, 8:43, and 8:58. Also a voicemail at 8:42. Wade was very eager to pay him in cash before 3pm. Wade showed up at around 2pm with cash and told my husband that he would have to sign an agreement in order to get the cash. If he didn't sign it, he told my husband he would have to talk to his attorney to get the money Wade owed him and agreed to pay him. Here is an exact quote from that agreement: "I agree to stop or remove any previous complaints and not make any future complaints or statements to any law enforcement, I.R.S, Better Business Bureau, on the web or any chat rooms against Wade Hall or old time Masonry whatsoever." Now you know why I am writing this review instead of my husband as I signed no such agreement. I'm not even sure if holding money that he owed my husband unless such a document is signed is enforceable or even legal but my husband is following the agreement anyway. Thankfully My husband's phone records every phone call automatically.
