When I was sent to a General Court Martial Sam's firm argued to have a key piece of evidence suppressed on the grounds that the government had conducted an illegal search and seizure. Law enforcement has a very low bar to pass for probable cause, yet the military judge was swayed by the well thought out written brief and oral arguments made during the hearing. The Command wanted to proceed with a court martial anyways and Sam successfully negotiated non judicial punishment and a retirement.
