Honestly, if I could give 0 stars, I would. Whatever you do, don't hire this firm. They are extremely expensive and, in my experience, seemed more focused on billing than on helping their clients. I worked with Teddi and Sunny, and I regret my decision. I spent over $12,000 on my case and was repeatedly told they could handle it. I shared how serious and urgent my situation had become, but I felt very little was done to move my case forward. After my first court hearing, they chose to withdraw from representing me, which was both surprising and disappointing. Another frustrating issue was being billed for reviewing and responding to numerous emails sent by the opposing parties. Even though I wasn't the one initiating those communications, I was still charged for the time spent addressing them, which significantly increased my legal fees. After hiring a new attorney, I was told that my case should have been handled differently. Looking back, I wish I had known more about the firm's experience with family law before retaining them. Had I known, I would have chosen different representation from the beginning. This was my personal experience, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend this firm. Lawyer: Ariel Baniowski, Manassas Office. Honest, organized, caring, advocate, dedicated, and trustworthy. These are just a few of the words I would use to describe Ariel Baniowski. I hired her and the firm of Livsey and Myers to defend me against a "rule to show cause" and what turned out to be a move for full custody of my children . My divorce was finalized in 2014 and I had been living with a 50/50 custody arrangement. The ex remarried and decided to try and overturn the original mediation agreement. They alleged breaches of the agreement and used that to justify a change in custody. This initiated a year long battle of litigation and utter chaos. Ariel was a rock for me and my family. When I was emotional and wanted to lash out, she would be the first to question if my decision and steady my hand. She was really great at taking me from the emotional roller coaster to a rational zone. Dhe would be direct with my possibilities when the path (or upcoming rulings) was uncertain -that was my favorite part about her style. The biggest thing I learned is that there is no certainty in this process. Even with an iron clad meditation agreement, everything can be litigated. Having a lawyer that reminds you of that, and shows you what we are doing to prove our point was more helpful to me than one that told me we were gonna win. There will be many wins and losses until the final verdict is in, and it's important to stay focused - and that is what Ariel did. This law firm is just about as LOW as they come. I retained Mr. David Marquardt from the Fairfax office for just one week before I released him to follow another recommendation. I only worked very marginally with him during that week: asked 1 question by email, sent an attachment and talked on the phone for about 10 minutes, which was a total waste of time. I was quite shocked when Mr. Marquardt sent me my retainer back, deducting almost $1,000.00. He also included a CD in the package and ONE invoice for about $350.00. When I inquired about the remaining charges of about $600.00, Mr. Marquardt was impossible to reach. It was pure hell to get in touch with Mr. Marquardt or the accountants but a secretary told me there was another invoice. Since communication was abysmal, in my emails I copied the two partners, Mr. Livesay and Mr. Myers, but neither of them would call back or respond my emails. I still don't have the missing invoice. Finally, Mr. Marquardt sent a brief email saying I should check out the CD in the package, whatever was on that CD. WHY WOULD ANYONE SAVE WORK ON A CD THAT THEY CAN'T EVEN COMMUNICATE TO THE PAYING CLIENT, IS BEYOND ME. If you're looking for a attorney who cares and is responsive, my advice is to stay away from the Fairfax office of Livesay & Myers. It seems their whole staff is rude and unresponsive, not only Mr. Marquardt. I noticed Livesay & Myers have posted reviews on their website but they're posted internally as there's no link for anyone to post a review. I hired Carolyn as my attorney, in January. I explained to her my situation with regards to my husband's infidelity and my desire to pursue a divorce. She was abrupt and unkind to my situation and suggested an MSA, even though I explained to her that my husband would not be willing to sign anything and that he was in the process of selling our home. I was so desperate to get out of a terrible marriage, I agreed to it. After months, I had to keep having her revise the MSA, which cost even more money. When the year separation was up, I asked her to just please move forward with my divorce, to which she said I would have to provide another hefty retainer since my husband didn't sign the MSA. My husband sold our marital property from under me and there are no longer any assets, in dispute. I paid this law firm nearly three grand for nothing and now, I have to beg for the remainder of my retainer back. If you are a struggling single mom, looking to get out of a emotionally abusive marriage, this place is not for you. They just want your money and any indication that there is marital asset in dispute, they will want more of it. The sad part is, I hired someone else within the same firm a year prior and she was so nice and diligent in my case. I would not ever recommend Carolyn Easton. She's probably the worse attorney on the planet and just sits at a desk, collecting money. read more
