I love junk and you can find great treasures at Sanford and Son. Every Friday, Sanford opens the…read moredoors to shelves of estate finds. Now priced at $2 per item, you can find great deals. We have purchased antique prints, glassware and WWII memorabilia. But you have to get there early. Doors open at 9:00 and people start lining up as early as 6:00 a.m. The line starts at the west door. The regulars bring "sold" stickers and quickly place them on items as they are enter the building. Parking is limited and tight. The building also houses an antique mall with a broad arrange of east coast antiques. Ask for a 10 percent discount if you pay by cash or check on items over $25. The staff is friendly and accommodating. If you like antiques, Sanford and Kid is a unique and fine experience.

The run in and throw Everything onto the "sold" table. They don't care about anybody else or the merchandise. They throw what they don't want to the side, open boxes and don't close them and refuse to get out or someone else's way, they are literally like vultures picking bones clean. The store itself is nice, the owner is friendly and the employees are pleasant, its the "regulars" that really make this place suck. If your interested in shopping there on Friday morning bring you and 10 of your closest friends and start standing in line at 8:30am. As soon as u enter grab EVERYTHING you might suspect as valuable. (cause that's what these vultures are doing)

GF and I love our adventures. After leaving a wedding in Rutland, we drove some scenic roads back…read moreinto MA. Part of the way home, we spotted the Twitchell House on the left side of route 30 as we were motoring South. The Twitchell House is seriously an entire house (and barn and tent and yard) full of antiques. We probably spent two hours poking through all the rooms, digging up all sorts of neat little trinkets. GF got a soldering iron shaped like a pistol and some funky tins. I got a mid-century cake tin for a baker friend, an old glass ink well, a set of 1920s fake pearls, a 1940s black fox muff that I am so excited to rock the hell out of this winter...I think that's all I got...but it definitely wasn't all I wanted to get. The owners are also pretty awesome, and super chatty. They love their collection and they've carefully labeled everything in the building. If you're ever in Southern Vermont looking for an adventure, this is definitely a worthwhile stop.

I have to wholeheartedly agree with the other reviewer...this place is amazing. Southern VT has a…read morelot of antiquing, but this place is the most bohemian. Prices were flexible and low, there wasn't a single item I looked at that I wasn't willing to pay full sticker price. We are trying to keep our place minimal and we have all of the furniture we need, but we did get these two amazing rugs. She did say that she usually doesn't do rugs, but that she got these on a gut feeling. They are in tough shape, and in need of a good cleaning, but they were a CRAZY good deal and exactly what I was searching for. If I were opening a restaurant or a boutique, or just looking to furnish my place, I would schlep up here as my first stop.
