All the World's a Stage…read more.. ...but you'll find the best performances at the TB Sheldon. Set your phones to silent, grab some popcorn, and peek with me behind the red velvet curtains of this historic theater. Affectionately known by locals as "The Jewel Box" of Red Wing, the Sheldon's impressively ornate interior would upstage that of many other theaters. The lobby makes a dramatic entrance, and the auditorium steals the show with gorgeous murals, and gold and ivory plaster sculptures adorning the walls. The Sheldon's history is as dramatic as its decor, the building having survived two fires and an explosion that blew off the roof. Opening its doors in 1904, it hosted Vaudeville shows travelling through from Chicago to Minneapolis in its early years, and later converted to a movie house. Now it showcases live performances and lectures, as well as playing classic movies like Gone with the Wind. I fondly remember performing here in my teens, electricity in the air as we waited for our cue, hoping not to break a leg en pointe. Most recently I watched the amazing musical Glensheen here, and it brought down the house! A Sheldon experience is always magical for the audience and performers alike. This theater is a destination unto itself, and is certainly a tough act to follow. I give it 5 rounds of applause!

A hidden gem in Red Wing, just a block off Hwy 61. I have driven down Hwy 61 so many times and…read morenever knew about the Sheldon Theatre. I'm glad I finally found it. I've been wanting to get to a show for the last year and we finally got tickets to an Andy and Bing Christmas. Mick Sterling and Ben Utecht hosted the event with toe-tapping songs throughout the night. I haven't seen Mick since he was signing Joe Cocker's 'You Can Leave Your Hat On' at Bunkers Bar. It was great to hear his voice again. They played for at least two hours with a small intermission. Great show. The theatre is beautiful and so full of character. The intimacy of the place makes any seat a great one. I'll definitely be back for another show.

Six of us went to Four Old Broads this afternoon. The theater is comfortable and quaint. The show…read morewas humor filled entertaining!! I enjoyed that one character was watching a story and the sound was played in the theater to make it life-like. After the show the cast was lined up outside the theater, in front t of the restroom! It was a comfortable waiting, box office and concession area. Parking was easy w free street parking. I appreciated that the seats despite having arms, were wide enough for large adults. I will definitely come back to town for another show. Thanks Rep Theater for a wonderfully delightful afternoon!

I was surprised there was even a theatre here! I found the play, Jeff on a Shelf, on Facebook…read moreevents and bought the tickets online with a friend. We went on a Friday night and was greeted in the lobby by two kind performers who were selling beverages. There was a small bathroom and coatracks available as well. We were ushered upstairs into their small black box theatre. There was room for twenty audience members. The room itself was quite ordinary - it was literally a room, not a typical theatre by any means- but that was what gave its charm. The play itself was hilarious. It warned its use of adult humor, and that definitely needed to be noted. As a young adult, I quite enjoyed the humor used, but I can't say the same for other older viewers. The writing and acting was wonderful. The cost for the play was also quite nice! I am definitely interested in attending more plays in the future here.
