This is a French Language school within JCPS. Today is Tiger Trot Day! One of the biggest fundraisers for the school. St. Matthew's has several teachers that have won teacher of the year. I went to Bellermine U for a men's BB game. Before the…read moregame, I went to the cafeteria to get a cup of coffee. The coffee was very good. They wouldn't take my money it. The venue for the game was good. There were a fair number of spectators, but it wasn't crowded. I don't think there is a bad seat in the house. Concessions was good - about normal prices for the items, and it was well stocked. Everyone I encountered there was very friendly and helpful with directions. It is a beautiful campus. Even in the snow.

They offer a range of classes like front end web design, "React", ".Net", Python, and many others. This alone would be great, but it doesn't stop there. Code Louisville also offers a bevy of additional resources, like job readiness workshops, one day workshops like "Salesforce", help on resumes, mentors available daily, and more. You can tell that they truly care about your success, and they are invested in it. My hope is that the grant funding for this facility continues, and can impact the city immensely to motivate more investment in tech talent. During my graduation event, I was able to meet recruiters from several companies, plus Lieutenant Governor Jeanine Hampton, and Mayor Greg Fischer, who is a big proponent of the programs here. I would definitely recommend Code Louisville to anyone interested in a career in tech!

I had a chance to tour the Goodwill Excel Center recently and I am blow away by this campus and all…read morethe good they are putting back into our community. If you're not familiar (I wasn't) Excel is the non traditional education arm of Goodwill Kentucky. This campus focuses on empowering people who were not able to complete high school for whatever reason to come back and get their high school diploma as non-traditional students. The campus is light, fresh, airy. They have a daycare on-site, a cafeteria and wellness room, coaches to help you figure out any barriers between you and your diploma, and teachers ready to teach the subjects you need to get to your goals. I got to meet some faculty and administration and see students coming in and out of class. Everyone seemed genuinely happy to be there and full of energy. The last thing that was asked at the end of our tour was - please tell the people you know that we are here and ready to help new students. So, here I am. There are informational sessions regularly and new classes start every 8 weeks. If you (or someone you know) are looking to make a new professional path for yourself and getting your high school diploma is a big step to get there, reach out to this center.

But, as a parent, everything about AHS has felt good as we moved into the community. The principal as good; her teachers have been good. I mean, our fears of transitioning from private to public school were high and serious. But, it's all been fine. Band has been great for our daughter. AHS is a great school, IMO.
