Wine gardens and food everywhere lining the streets of Madison and the Ohio River! Of course I go for the art but there is one food vendor in particular that I have to visit and it's Miss Piggy's pork chop sandwiches! Without the best I've ever eaten..and the ribs are great too! It was a really hot summer day so I ate lightly and drank heavily! The wine garden had a delicious Sangria that made the heat tolerable, the more you drank the cooler the day ! If you really want a nice piece of original art this is the place! From stained glass, jewelry or Americana you'll find it here. The festival is great and so are the homes that line the roads of old Madison. Excellent preservation at its best! I never miss this event and I assure you if you go you'll return!

We hadn't been to the Gaslight Festival in years and decided to make it part of our Saturday…read moremorning. My husband and I went early enough to not be uncomfortably surrounded by people while visiting the vendor booths. Booths were a mixture of local businesses and groups or small business vendors selling earrings, candles, soaps, cookies, clothing and more. The food vendors were similar to being at the state fair, offering lemonade, corn dogs and funnel cakes. My favorite snack was the popcorn. For the kids they offered a variety of activities - bouncy houses and carnival rides. The Gaslight Festival is actually a few days of events. Most popular activities are the 5k, parade and car show. Street parking can be tough to find but some organizations offer their lot for a small parking fee, which raises money for their group. Keep this in mind if you're wanting to visit a restaurant in the area. (You're likely not going to be able to park at their private lot)

The Jtown Gaslight Festival is a relaxed neighborhood affair -- a perfect festival to close out the…read moresummer with. I was impressed with the amount of booths at this festival -- probably two or three blocks' worth. And these booths included a mix of local businesses and nonprofits, artists and cheaper gifts. For example, if you bring a child and want to buy him/her something inexpensive, you can probably find it here. There is also a car show, which is fun to browse, as well as rides, live music and a variety of fair food. The kettle corn stand made the main thoroughfare smell amazing and rightfully so had a decently long line, which included me. A favorite part was that walking the streets of the festival allowed me to slow down enough to really take in the buildings and businesses lining downtown Jtown. I didn't know that Jtown had its on archeological society, for example. It also provided me an opportunity to check out the new Feast BBQ that just opened in downtown Jtown. Parking was decently easy to come by -- an added plus. It seems like Jtown is becoming a more and more popular place to live and do business. It was fun to see all of this on display at the Gaslight Festival.

This is the 20th year for this very nice local Art Show on the Square. We have attended several…read moretimes in the past but, I think this was the best one. There were some very good vendors who had some really nice locally made products that we purchased. There were a number of Food Trucks with a nice variety of different foods on the their menus. The Historical Society had a terrific separate section where they had demonstrations and served free samples of some delicious Dutch oven Apple Fritters. Seemed to be very well organized and from the size of the crowd I think it was a success.

This festival is a lot more organized than other art fests I've attended and they had a very large array of different types of Fine Art and Folk Art. It's even juried so you have a vacancies to win that blue ribbon! The layout is very easy to navigate and they use the whole area for art, music, food, and the historical reenactments. If you've never been to Lagrange, visit during the Arts on the Green. Plan to spend a whole day as it takes a while to really peruse through all the art. Plus you can also visit the shops on their Main Street and really take in that small town America feel!

It is amazing how much detail and work they put into making it feel like you've time-traveled back a century. Everyone's dressed up, there are vendors and shows of all sorts... There is just so. much to do. I really love how every weekend there is a different theme. I believe the day we went it was Christmas in July. If you go towards the beginning or end of the season, there is a big opening and closing ceremony with the king and queen. Turkey legs? Check. Have a glass of mead? Check. Watch some jousting? Check! It was honestly impossible to do everything we wanted to do in one day. This will easily become an annual summer event for us. It is a great nerdy escape that you cannot find anywhere else in Kentucky!

I recently spent an entire day…read moreenjoying the quaint, picturesque Main Street historic area with its plethora of local businesses and shops; there really was something for everyone. The people were all so friendly and their pride was evident when they eagerly spoke about their city. Visitors will immediately notice a love for, and theme of trains, as this little city has a train running right down the center of Main Street several times each day! Along Main Street are several restaurants, a coffee shop, a floral/gift shop, an art gallery, a yarn/knitting shop, a consignment store, tattoo shop, a millinery supply store, several gift shops, a mercantile shop of repurposed/vintage/handcrafted items, and so much more! There is a wonderful public park for children that includes a large covered pavilion used for events, farmer's markets and more. La Grange is about a 30 minute drive from Louisville and is a great place to spend the day. Parking is plentiful along Main and other streets.

Reasonable rates by the hour and super convenient walk from there to the festival. It runs over Labor Day weekend, Friday-Monday. The schedule is nicely booked for music and performances to represent various cultures. In between is often a DJ spinning music. I noticed two staging areas this year. The crowd was busy this year. A lot of booths and food vendors packed into the space. A little overwhelming, as I was hoping for a more relaxing atmosphere to sample food and browse booths. Also less restaurant participants than I remembered from the past years; and much of the space was replaced with margarita stations or cocktail bars.

In fact, shortly after I moved here, a prestigious local professional recommended I attend it. The neighborhood is gorgeous, and the art fair is well organized and thought out. I was glad to see food from Kingsley's was featured as it has great food. I like this art fair just as much as the St. James one if not better. If you are looking for a nice, fun activity and enjoy being outside and art, this festival is especially for you. There also is jewelry, soap and lotion, and other items sold. Wine and mimosas are available for purchase as well.

I love a good pedestrian area, and we as consumers are more likely to go in places when we can leisurely stroll. There was a music stage and a small area for performers, and a few areas with kid centered things. I really enjoyed that all the businesses were open at one time. I've been walking through Nulu before and tried to stop in a shop during the middle of the day only to discover its closed. This really welcomed people in but also made some areas a little crowded. Overall I'm looking forward to next year to see how they continue to expand.
