I was only there one day, but you can experience a lot in 10 hours. I had the best time of my life at the festival. It's located in a small town called Bardstown, but those of us Bourbon enthusiasts, we know it as the Bourbon capital of Kentucky. It is your typical festival style setup with white canopy tends lined up with both food, beverage and unique collectibles offered by local artists. They set up carnival food trailers on one end where you can enjoy all your typical carnival foods from burgers to hot dogs, BBQ, fried everything and of course can't forget the sugar confections of the ice cream trucks. I caution you to walk through this area without wanting to indulge in everything they offer. Adjacent to them was the main stage where local musicians entertained the crowds at all hours throughout the four day festival. Just because it says Bourbon in the name doesn't mean that is all that is offered as there were beer tents and may have been some wine options as well, but I did not head over to that area. I believe I even saw an entire field of bouncy houses for the kids. I decided to experience the festival from the VIP loft. Location on the third floor of a building containing bourbon history, I enjoyed the luxuries of their lounge, food at any given time and a private bar that would mix up your favorite bourbon style drinks (included in your ticket costs). The great part is you can spend time in the loft, head back down to the festival, enjoy the other festivities and the distilleries onsite offering specialty drinks using their bourbon (you do have to pay for these drinks and there was a ticket booth where you could purchase drink tickets). After an hour or so, I would head back upstairs and enjoy more food, drinks, relaxation along with the A/C and our own private bathroom. I kept going back and forth for the 10 hour duration of the festival that day. This is a must stop for any Bourbon enthusiast as it provides an opportunity to mingle with locals, out of state visitors, festival volunteers, local distilleries and you get to enjoy drinking bourbon while having food and listening to music. What is there not to love?

**Extremely Disappointed with the Kentucky Bourbon Festival 2026**…read more After spending thousands of dollars to attend the 2026 Kentucky Bourbon Festival, including purchasing VIP packages specifically because they were advertised as providing an elevated and exclusive experience, I have to say that this year's festival was an enormous disappointment\. The biggest issue was the **"exclusive bourbon" experience**\. When someone pays a premium price for a VIP package, there is a reasonable expectation that the bourbon selections will be genuinely special, thoughtfully chosen, and worthy of the price being charged\. Instead, the selections left me asking, *"This is what we paid thousands of dollars for?"* The bourbon offered did not come close to matching the expectations created by the VIP marketing\. What is even more frustrating is the apparent **lack of appreciation for the patrons who are spending serious money to attend this festival**\. VIP customers are not simply buying a ticket--they are investing thousands of dollars in the Kentucky Bourbon Festival, traveling, paying for hotels, transportation, meals, and additional events because they believe the festival will deliver a first\-class bourbon experience\. Those customers should be treated as valued patrons, not as an afterthought\. The festival seems to have lost sight of a very basic principle: **if you charge premium prices, you need to deliver a premium experience\.** Calling something "exclusive" does not automatically make it exclusive\. VIP customers should receive bourbon selections, access, hospitality, organization, and overall treatment that clearly justify the substantial additional cost\. Unfortunately, my experience in 2026 felt much more like paying a premium price for the *promise* of an exceptional experience rather than actually receiving one\. The Kentucky Bourbon Festival has built an incredible reputation and has the opportunity to be one of the premier bourbon events in the country\. But that reputation cannot be sustained by simply raising prices and attaching the word **VIP** to a package\. The people who are willing to spend thousands of dollars to attend deserve substantially better\. **For 2026, I cannot recommend the VIP experience\.** Until the festival demonstrates that it genuinely values its highest\-paying patrons and significantly improves the quality and exclusivity of its bourbon offerings, I will think very carefully before spending that kind of money on this event again\. **Premium price\. Premium promises\. Unfortunately, not a premium experience\.**

The church transforms there building into the grinches lair, whoville and other Christmas holiday favorites. This is a free event that the congregation of this church does a few weekends of the holiday season. You go to there website and reserve a time Frame and date along with your party size for virtual tickets. You line up at your time and walk through this amazing doctorated and creative holiday wonderland. Like the people who designed this have to be engineers or something it is so creative and fun. It's like walking through a movie set. Each section offers something different. It is mainly grinch themed and as you go room to room it legit has the grinch story book. page by page on each wall. At the beginning they have a scavenger hunt game with other hidden Christmas gems. Like for instance one of the air vents had a picture of Bruce Willis character John McClain from die hard in homage to the famed vent scene. Also spread throughout each room was cool meet and greet opportunities with not only the grinch Himself, but buddy the elf, Cindy lou who, the whole whoville villagers, Jack skeleton and finally at the end Santa and his workshop. The characters here were so good at what they did. I'm not sure if they are hired actors or if this congregation has some phenomenal talented members. But everybody played there role brilliantly. The grinch, buddy the elf and the whoville people especially. One of my favorite things that Happened and what will be a for sure long time Christmas memories is my 7 year old daughter who will absolutely only talk to me, her grandpas and one of her uncles when it comes to men walked in the room with buddy the elf. Buddy the elf excitedly "hi little girl". My 7 year old daughter disappears behind my oldest daughters backside. Buddy slowly and cautiously in hilarious will Ferrell like fashion creeps to her looking for a fist bump. My 7 year old is having no part and is backing away and buddy the elf said what you would expect the movie version to say "little girl I just wanna spread holiday cheers for the whole world to share". So we all got a kick out of that and it's just an example of how in character these volunteers were. They really made it seem so legit with the character acting. As mentioned towards the end you hit Santa workshop for a picture with Santa. They also have some decorations and a fake snow blower for kids to play in. They have a stand with complimentary hot chocolates too. Several tables setup for you to sit and relax for a drink before departing. At the end there were some donation jars. There was nobody there forcing or demanding you donate. There was not anyone trying to promote or recruit you to there parish (which I honestly was expecting for a church event). Just a fun, free and creative event for the whole family to enjoy. Overall This was amazing. Me and the family may have a new favorite local holiday tradition. The folks here put on an amazing, fun and memorable event. I'll tell everyone I know To try and visit grinchmas next holiday season. The fall walk takes place mid-September, usually the weekend after Labor Day. Since Monnik has taken over the walk, things have changed a little bit. But it is still great! Hickory Street, on either side of Burnett, is closed off. There are two outdoor stages set up and bands play all evening and in to the night. In the event of inclement weather, sometimes the performances can be moved indoors at Monnik and maybe Checks. Beer tents, food trucks, cake walks, pull tabs, good music, good people, good times! The other neighborhood bars get in on the fun too, with bands and food or drink specials at spots like the MerryWeather, Nach Bar, Old Hickory Inn, and others. One of the houses near the center point of the walk area has outdoor backyard karaoke. I love this event, I love my neighborhood, and I love my neighbors!

They typically have 3 or 4 Blues bands on Friday and that many more on Saturday. The event has been going on for years and the crowd is steady but not overbearing. So get a chair next time, sit in the street, listen to great music, catch up with old friends, have a beer and a brat and enjoy the BLUES. All for free, well music and sitting are free, beer not so much.

I wish I could have made shopping a part of my Boomtown adventure. Some of the reasons the shopping hours should be extended: * Like I said, it was still sunny. No problems seeing the merch. * This event is only one day (so far). Asking vendors to stay open until the last concert shouldn't be too hard. * The in-between time, leading up to the last band, is a time when a large amount of guests are looking for a diversion -- a win for shopping. But Boomtown is definitely about more than shopping. And from what I saw, it excels in other areas: * The music was fantastic. From what I was told, local band Houndmouth and WFPK worked together to bring in the acts. * The final band was on time, which you don't see a lot. * Because this festival is still gaining steam, we were able to 1) find parking less than a block away and 2) get super close to the stage without having to push our way through a massive crowd. * This is such a great opportunity to explore beautiful downtown New Albany. * The police were so friendly! I'm looking forward to next year and spending all day in New Albany.

Booths were a mixture of local businesses and groups or small business vendors selling earrings, candles, soaps, cookies, clothing and more. The food vendors were similar to being at the state fair, offering lemonade, corn dogs and funnel cakes. My favorite snack was the popcorn. For the kids they offered a variety of activities - bouncy houses and carnival rides. The Gaslight Festival is actually a few days of events. Most popular activities are the 5k, parade and car show. Street parking can be tough to find but some organizations offer their lot for a small parking fee, which raises money for their group. Keep this in mind if you're wanting to visit a restaurant in the area. (You're likely not going to be able to park at their private lot)

I was impressed with the amount of booths at this festival -- probably two or three blocks' worth. And these booths included a mix of local businesses and nonprofits, artists and cheaper gifts. For example, if you bring a child and want to buy him/her something inexpensive, you can probably find it here. There is also a car show, which is fun to browse, as well as rides, live music and a variety of fair food. The kettle corn stand made the main thoroughfare smell amazing and rightfully so had a decently long line, which included me. A favorite part was that walking the streets of the festival allowed me to slow down enough to really take in the buildings and businesses lining downtown Jtown. I didn't know that Jtown had its on archeological society, for example. It also provided me an opportunity to check out the new Feast BBQ that just opened in downtown Jtown. Parking was decently easy to come by -- an added plus. It seems like Jtown is becoming a more and more popular place to live and do business. It was fun to see all of this on display at the Gaslight Festival.
