I go in and I don't see the Passports for Books and Brews, one of the librarians actually had to go get it for me, I also asked kindly for stamp and received one. It accidentally bleed through (the stamp) she was kind enough to offer another one but, I told her it was ok no need. I do like this library but, I may go here just because it's close to work.

Library was easy to find and a very impressive facility. Demonstration kitchen with video display and audio were all great. Parking lot was fairly well lit, but did have a few burnt out roadway bulbs, which caused us to walk very gingerly off of the curb to our cars. Looking forward to future programming.

However, I do acknowledge other reviewers' feedback that they do not have a tremendous amount of books for a library - especially of its size. Ordering from another library is free and easy, but you do need to wait. And there are not too many good places to work. The alcoves are almost always in use and there aren't many other options for working quietly (I realized after reading other reviews that I've never gone there to work). Still, it meets my needs and I'll happily go there often to browse.

While a gorgeous building, I can't properly rate it as I haven't used the library as a patron -- I haven't borrowed a book or spent time in there studying, so I don't really know how good a library it is. But as a tourist passing by, it was a good place to stop in for a look at the architecture and to use their washroom and fill up our water bottles, which was very much needed on such a hot day. They have a separate and special place for teens to come and enjoy the resources and quiet. There is also an area that is a work shop where they teach classes on computers and/or offer extracurricular activities. There are separate areas where you can curl up and just enjoy a book or rest in quiet. The place is so clean you could almost eat off the floor. A resident can be proud of what the county offers here.

And read once. Maybe lend out a time or two. Haul it around in a box from one stop in life to another. Then sell in a garage sale decades down the road for 50 cents. My budget and my brain don't always agree with one another. So when I don't have pocket money for flashy book covers and coffee I home brew my own and head over to the OC main public library. Where they've got not just books but CDs and magazines to rent. Where they'll hunt down a book and get it in within days if it's not sitting on the shelf (or, in a rare instance, even purchase a brand new book just for me). And it's all free, minus the late fees that I accrue like it's going out of style. But trust me, six months of racking up late fees MAYBE equals 2 fancy B&N coffees, so I think I'm still ahead. If you haven't been to your local library lately - go. Try it out. The more we patronize these services the better they'll be. Your wallet will give you a big thumbs up too, it's a win/win.

As libraries go, this is rather retro in the sense that it still has a lot of physical books and some, but not a ton of spaces for people to sit or do meetings. Stone steps lead up to the main entrance; there is one around the back as well with a wheelchair ramp. Book drops in the back and front- if you enter through the back, you get to see what events are going on in the various libraries (and grab a copy of the LEO and Audience, if you're into it) while the front treats you to the books of the month as well as what the Crescent Hill Book Club is reading. The librarians are very nice and quite helpful- they are always willing to take the time to explain how to properly use the copier and print things out, as well as hand over whatever knowledge is available about google, gmail, and various word processing programs. There is a reading room on the main floor in the periodicals section. Sometimes the odd person thinks it's OK to take a phone call in there, but it isn't. You get the stink-eye, you get spoken to, and you get unpopular, fast. It's also tempting to photograph articles in the current magazines for later reading/use. The librarians don't mind actually- but they do want you to read what you take. There is also a reading room downstairs amidst books on tape/CD, but they are quick to recommend Libby. The library seems to have a great collection of cookbooks, decent adult fiction selection, skimpy poetry, good history section. The children's area looks fun- there is a castle and a children's librarian that sits in there. One note- for a Louisville library, the horses/horse care area is a bit lacking.

Folks setting up for a meeting in side room, people using the computers and using reading spots. I love to see it. I found a few books to check out and take with me. And I appreciate that this location also has self-checkout. I miss that at my temporary home library location, with the Main branch being closed for a year. A good sized parking lot, shared with a senior community center, and just off the J-Town main drag. Love it.

I was also looking forward to using LinkedIn Learning (Lynda) to take advantage of free digital courses to enhance various skills. I was fortunate enough to be able to sign up for a card online but recently it expired and I had to go in to renew my membership. This LFPL was very clean and the staff was extremely friendly. There was open computers available to use and it was quiet. Once the pandemic calms down, I would love to revisit again and bring my son. Just finished my first book for 2022 thanks to Libby!

The deals you get beats anything you get at a used bookstore or other place. Paperbacks for 50 cents and many hardback books for $1. In between is a small selection of library books, both fiction and non, plus movie rentals. Workers sit at a couple of desks and I watched them help several visitors and callers. Bulletin boards share flyers for upcoming events. Great for work or reading; however, it's a smaller space so understand you're going to hear kids, conversations and more. But, I love it! It has plenty to offer. True, there are no aisles and aisles of children's books so you can browse through them and pick what you like. But, if you want a particular book, you can request it from any branch and pick it up here. True, they might not host the polar express pj party, but they have regular story times, they host sticker parties and many more. Sure, it don't boast of huge play/activity areas but they have a cute little nook with the cutest ladder that the littles love to climb. They have book sales pretty regularly. The checkout is easy. There are computers you can use. I believe it has a meeting room too. The biggest advantage of this library is its location. When they closed it for around a year, the nearest library to the east end was the new Northeast. That's a good half hour drive from where we live. So, I'm really glad we have one right here in Middletown!
