The person who greeted us was not very friendly, and we felt similarly when we checked out. The walk upstairs to our room was treacherous, so we left our bags in the car and carried up only what we needed by hand. Parking was odd - just a couple spots on the street, but if those were taken, you had to pay for metered, and the time on that was limited. The hallways were dark and had a very strong unpleasant smell. The control of the lights in the bedroom was weird so you had to get up from bed to turn off the lights - not well thought out. The space was huge, which was nice. But it seemed you were paying for the modern furniture and restaurant downstairs, rather than the accommodations themselves. And breakfast is not included. Next time I'm in Beaune, I'll certainly seek out less expensive and friendlier lodging.

We asked our hotel to pick another close restaurant and they chose, Le Chevreuil. At first arrival, we felt like they may not be open. We poked our heads in a little more and noticed staff on the patio in the back. They welcomed us in and we sat outside overlooking the village of Meursault. We did not order wine. I know, we are in the heart of the French wine country, but, in our defense, we had three different wine tastings earlier that day. Don't @ me. The menus are in French. We asked for an English version and they did not have one. Lucky for us, our hostess was kind enough to walk us through damn near everything on the menu. I say lucky, because the first dish I tried to google translate came up "spider" which would have made everything wrong in the world. My wife ordered chicken dish and I had the three course with dessert. They brought mini french breads and a small cup of some soup for my wife when they brought my zucchini bowl of Art. I could have just sat and at the zucchini Art bowl all night. It was a delight. Creamy, crunchy, salty, sweet, almost every experience for the mouth in a single dish. The beef was cooked Sous vide which I think makes meat perfect. The reduction was exquisite and could be sold in a jar or by the gallon. My wife enjoyed her chicken dish although she is always hesitant to eat chicken with the bones in place. We Americans are sometimes spoiled with our food preparations. Dessert was again, a work of art as is most of the food outside of Paris. I am so happy that the fist restaurant was closed because this was our last night in Meursault and in Bourgogne.

We stayed at a lot of hotels during our honeymoon, and this one had by far the best architecture. The view from our room was terrific, and we loved the stained glass window in our room. Extremely comfortable bed as well. Everything was stunning. Staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. They recommended two outstanding restaurants and made reservations for us (you need them). Probably the best food we ate our honeymoon. Breakfast was outstanding! Really delicious selection. And have a drink of chartreuse at their bar! Overall, a truly remarkable hotel and lifetime experience. I hope I will get to stay here again.

Each course looked beautiful and tasted even better. Some of the flavor combinations showed real inventiveness, such as the fish crudo with squash broth and many other little tastes on the plate. The pork main course was beautiful and the flavors were divine. Our wine was wonderful also, the list is large and fairly priced (at least for an expensive restaurant). However my sister's room in room 54 had wifi. 3. For a 5-star, you really shouldn't be decorating with FAKE flowers!!!! My sister and I were pretty shocked by this. Don't get me wrong, the inside lobby was tastefully decorated but the fake flowers really depreciates the level of luxury especially if it's a "luxury" hotel. Get real flowers stat! 4.
