Now the negatives, as I proceeded to the counter to check out, I wasn't greeted at all, she (Sales Associate), (didn't have on a name tag), no greeting, no hello, no anything, she seemed aggravated when I asked her for the total. My bag ripped from the amount of stuff she put in my bag, she could see it was ripped and didn't offer me another bag, and when I asked for one she appeared irritated that I asked. I had to rebag two of my bags because she was throwing so much stuff in one bag. Upon checking out she handed me the receipt and sarcastically says "have a great day". As the next two customers checked out she greeted them both by saying "Hello , how are u doing , did you find everything u needed", Customer service was horrible and very disappointing! I left my wallet there for days and they held onto it until I realized where I left it, and returned it with all my money untouched. The employees are always helpful and personable, and will help give you the best deals! I feel safe leaving my backpack and bike at the front of the store knowing the employees will keep an eye on it for me. The store may have random selections of products but what they do have is usually for a good price, and the employees are always willing to help with whatever you need. Sadly, EP has been one of the only stalwarts that has stood the test of time in the area. Granted, they have good genuine products in stock. Fantastic body oils, tinctures, lotions, soaps, incense, teas, fabrics, art, sculptures a literal library of wonderful Afro centric literature, etc... it's all there. And if it isn't, they can prob get it for you. But it's the 'indifference' for me. I'm sure it works for them bc they've been the same way for 20+ years. While the price points may be a lil higher than expected, taking into account that they are a specialty shop catering to a a specific need/ demographic, the pricing is definitely justified - especially in this market w/ so many businesses closing. I brought in a brand-new pair of Badgley Mischka shoes (retail value $139) that I received as a gift but couldn't wear because they were too small. They offered me $9, which I declined--no big deal. I planned to sell them elsewhere. The issue happened when an employee placed a pricing sticker directly on the shoe. When she removed it, it ripped part of the finish and left behind paper and adhesive residue. I pointed it out immediately, but I was told it was "just paper" and that it would come off. When I got home, I realized the residue wasn't coming off, and the sticker had actually damaged the shoe. I returned to the store to explain what happened. The owner looked at them and told me it was "no big deal" because the damage was barely noticeable. She offered me $40 for the shoes instead of taking responsibility for the damage her employee caused. These shoes were brand new, still in the box, and were only damaged because of how they were handled in the store. What disappointed me most wasn't just the damage--it was the complete lack of accountability. There was no apology, no acknowledgment that they had caused the problem, and no real effort to make it right. When I asked if they could offer $50 instead, I was told they would lose money. At that point, it was clear the focus was on protecting their profit rather than taking care of a loyal customer. I'm still shocked by how this situation was handled. A simple apology and an effort to make things right would have gone a long way.

All of the furniture that I've purchased here has been for less than $20, and I'm talking about good hardwood furniture and even a 7ft silk sofa wrapped in the OG plastic protectant. For my fellow DIYers, you'll come across sewing machines often here, some built into tables with full kits for about $15 - $25. There is also a rack for scrap fabric, and abandoned knitting projects in the back. This location is in the prime spot, as it receives donations from all demographics. So whatever your style is, you're bound to find something you'll like here.
