Ollies is a hoot, no frills, but good deals. I have yet to write a review for this location, thought I had. Hubby loves to shop, so I said let's go. He wanted tarps, and picked up a few items, I was in search of books, they have a huge collection. We got lost in the book area and hubby and I had lots of fun showing each other what we found! Way fun!!! I found hubby's favorite gummy bears. SCORED The check out was smooth, and the cashier was really sweet, nice folks working. The place was ravished in areas, very busy. Well well well. First and last trip to Ollies today, Knoxville, TN, 4:40pm, if Ollies would like to look up the POS employee I am amount to tell y'all about. It was my first time to Ollies and I was super excited. Started to fill my cart up, feeling the Christmas shopping bug and holiday spirit. Then I get to the rug section to look at a few rugs. A lady a few feet away from me kindly asked the young employee if he could help her look at a rug because it was under a pile. He looked at her like she asked him to dig to China on his day off, then he marched over and said, which one? I'll jut let you imagine his tone of voice. She showed him the rug and this is when I couldn't look away. He said, and I will quote almost exactly, " That is an ugly rug. You want that one, you actually like it? She said, "Well, I like the rug. He said, Whatever you want, but that's an extremely ugly rug. I couldn't help myself, so I had to ask if they knew each other. She said no. Shocked, I said, "If you were my son, I would give you a piece of my mind, you should never speak to a customer that way. A few men that were walking near me popped up and agreed with me. What a bitter miserable human being to want to speak to another person that way. He just smirked at us. I had to walk away because it was too crazy to confront any further. I said my piece. I was told there were no managers to speak with, so I am here. It's a shame, because I believe in giving businesses a chance to resolve issues on their own before going to the internet, but they don't care. I was super nice on the phone and told them I just need to make Ollies aware of the situation so that they could speak with the employee about his behavior or maybe he need to go home and sleep his anger off. Someone needs to have an adult conversation with that kid. Either that or he is trying to get fired or in a confrontation. I was born and raised in East Tennessee. People don't treat each other that way around here. That is what makes Knoxville so special. Okay, I have said my piece and hopefully Ollies brings up ethics and the importance of kindness in one of their meetings. It's the holidays people! P.S. rude trashy disrespectful and that's just the manager. I was shopping earlier and my cart was swapped and my wallet was in the cart. I was in the isle and turned to grab a pet toy suddenly I turned and my cart was swapped. I immediately reported to manager who seemed like I was an inconvenience to him. He explained to me NO CAMERAS AVAILABLE ON SALES FLOOR ..WOW..A young aggressive kid who worked in the store was helpful to tell me the cart was still there..Not my cart not my wallet. This really seemed to bother him and he proceeded to tell me we'll to f**k off and seemed really to care less and told another associate that they didn't pay him enough to deal with this Bitch (me) the manager proceeded to tell me what he couldn't do and walked back to isle where it happened moved cat food around then shrugged his shoulders. I was gonna call to cancel my cards and notify police when my fiance found my cart pushed to front corner of the store thank goodness. I imagine they got scared since I was up front raising hell with some punk kid who was way to defensive for my taste. Ollies is one of my favorite places to shop but I will never spend another penny in a place that doesn't have respect for customers and not to mention NO CAMERAS. Very good selection changes all the time you see something one time if you don't get it might not be there the next time. Good value for your buck they even sell target items here for half the price. I mainly go here for house items because I know live in a house and they got lots of house things for half the price. Only did 4 star because there was no line and the cashier made me wait while they finish a conversation among another employee and the conversation wasn't even anything to do with the environment. This place is my alt-walmart. And my all time fave place for kitchen gadgets and gizmos for a good value. Also, there's a great selection of mobile accessories and books. Also my Christmas shopping staple. Not the prettiest to look at, but at least the old Circuit City building gets a different life. And if you're kind to the cashiers, you can have some nice chats. read more

There is something for everyone here. Great store and selection. If you see it and want it, buy it because it'll be gone. We bought a little of everything. The food selection is great. You need to come here first before going to the grocery store because you will save so much money. Great prices and had a holiday sale with 15% off your entire order. This store never disappoints!!! The book selection is better than most book stores, especially the comic book and graphic novel section. We have bought multiple rugs from here as well. Their prices on any floor covering is unbeatable. The only bad thing is that if you see it and like it, then get it. There is a very good chance it won't be there when you come back. HOWEVER, the next time you do go back, I'm SURE they'll have something you like. read more

This store has a tremendous collection of new books at yard sale prices. Their selection ranges from books for babies, children and young adults, to popular fiction, inspirational, coffee table, self help, collectors, and books for dummies. You name an audience and you will find a book for them. The rest of the store is very random and changes up quickly much like their neighbor store that I have also reviewed. Ollies has curtains, rugs, kitchen accessories, holiday decor, food, and more. They also have an inexpensive tool section that the hubby gets lost in. Their toy deals can't be beat. I enjoy the educational toys and craft kits as they are low priced and unique gift finds. This is a great place to go Christmas shopping, especially for those last minute and hard-to-find-a-gift-for folks. read more

Hadn't been in Ollie's for a couple of years. Went there yesterday and came back today with my daughter. I was very impressed with every employee we encountered. They were all friendly and helpful, much mores than in more expensive stores! I thought I had died and gone to Heaven when I discovered the incredible selection of books. Found a couple of books my son had been wanting and at incredibly low prices. This has become my favorite store in this area. read more
