This is a great store. Can't wait until they open back up from flooding from Helene.

This came up on Yelp during my search for antique stores in Hickory. This is NOT an antique store…read morebut it's a pretty cool furniture store with what seemed to be reasonable prices.

A very nice consignment store, well laid out, up and downstairs. Lots of stuff, although all we…read morewanted to see were chairs. Help was available and they were very helpful. We saw one chair we liked. It would fit our needs, was the acceptable color, material and size...a la my wife's seeking standards. Did we buy it? Of course not. Hickory is loaded with furniture outlets, so off we went a exploring. A couple of more locations and them the big kaboom: the Hickory Furniture Mart. Another review coming on this enormous, four level block-filling edifice containing just about any manufacturer and style of furniture one could imagine. We did not find anything that was better than the one at The Hickory Tree, so after some coffee and lunch at the Olde Hickory Station (see that review), we returned to the Hickory Tree. Since this was a consignment store, all items had a sales price tag with the prices listed over time. What I mean is that a price of $175 was scheduled to cost $150 on the first of the next month, then it would cost $135 the next month, and so on. This being the middle of the month, and not wanting to risk the desire chair being sold while we waited, we bought it...right then. They accepted credit cards. With the help of a young man we loaded this chair into our SUV and were off for home. An excellent, but exhausting furniture shopping experience that I survived. Before you blow your mind out looking for furniture all over, start here at the Hickory Tree. Prices reasonable and mark-downs abound. And nice people.

Nicest Ross I've ever been in. Everything is well organized, nice clearance section, and it's super…read moreclean. The staff was friendly, and the checkout time was super fast. Went with my mother in law, who is a regular here. She comes and gets all the clearance items! According to her Tuesday, and Thursday's are the best days to come, not really sure why, but again she shops here a lot. They have a lot of name brands, and some lesser known brands, but still cute stuff for the entire family. They home decor selections are awesome too. Great deals on paintings, pictures, and mirrors. It's basically like a TJ Maxx with a different name, and not as many high end items.

The only issue I have with this store is the lady in the back that works near the fitting room. American woman with Brown hair, Wear Glasses. Like every Time I come towards the home section she will walk up next to you pretending to do something. Like it makes me feel uncomfortable. I'm not stealing plus I think it was because of my skin tone. This made her think I was probably trying to steal something. Because of my skin tone. Last time she was following me like at least 5 feet away, I just couldn't shop at that section no more so I went to the dress section a place where she doesn't follow or think your stealing. Never in my life I felt so unconformable shopping. I get its your job but woman constantly just following a college girl around just weird.

Perfect bookstore/coffee shop with great drinks, selection of books, and plenty of cozy reading…read moreareas! I have been here a couple times now and both times have been a treat. I usually stop here either on my way to Asheville, it breaks up the ride nicely, or before climbing at Bigfoot Climbing gym. I have gotten both the Poe and the Hemingway lattes and they are delicious! I've also had some of the dessert pastries from Ugly Duckling - the mocha espresso cookie and the cheddar bacon scone. These treats are tasty and perfect snacking size. The interior of this store is very cozy and there are endless reading nooks throughout the space. The first time I enjoyed my coffee and snack outside but this past weekend, I sat upstairs. Both times have been very enjoyable - one minor note, they closed early on Sunday, at noon instead of 3pm, to prepare holiday decorations. Unfortunately, I arrived at 11:30am so I didn't get to stay and read as long as I originally planned. Wish they would have posted on their social media (I looked them up on Instagram before visiting again)! Other than that little hiccup, this is a must-visit in Morganton!
