The retreat at their Olmsted Falls campus was awesome. It was a God-filled time of listening to speakers, worshipping God through praise & worship music, having quiet tike to read and reflect (while writing our thoughts to questions in the booklet provided), and speaking/connecting with other women in breakout sessions. I really enjoyed one of the breakout sessions that we did which was a creative activity (painting). The catered lunch (sandwiches) was delicious and the mid-day snack of popcorn and candy was yummy. The continental breakfast was tasty - it consisted of muffins, tea/coffee, and fruits (different fruits in a cup such as grapes, cantaloupe, and strawberries). Daughters and Women out there, you are loved. And valued. I had such a wonderful time at this retreat that I can see myself returning to this retreat again next year. **** GOAL of 150 reviews in 2024 - 109/150 total reviews in 2024 - 758 total overall Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 11 October 2024

This church is located in Berea in a small shopping complex. My friend Gabby and I arrived for the 11:45am service which was a late service but I didn't get ready in time for the earlier services. There are 2 other services on Sundays are 8:45am and 10:15am. CHURCH SERVICE -- Service started with praise and worship time which is common to most churches. That lasted for about 30 minutes. Then the pastor delivered the message which was about sharing the Christian faith to others. I loved how the message had a question and answer session. So everyone got a piece of paper to answer certain questions pertaining to the pastor's message. Answering those questions for me really allowed me to delve deeper into my own personal faith. Renew is a non-denominational Christian Church filled with young people, families, and couples. The church isn't as diverse as I would have liked because the majority of people who attend are caucasian (white) but everyone I met was nice. I loved that they have a tea section inside so I grabbed a cup of tea before entering the sanctuary. I would not mind visiting again. **** - 81 total reviews in 2019 - 290 total Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 31 May 2019

This church fits all the worst-possible stereotypes of a "box" church…read more The building itself is a big cinder block behemoth; the main area of worship is essentially a giant auditorium with rows of identical seats, a massive, bare stage, and totally bare walls. The architecture is more like a Wal-Mart than a church, and it is totally devoid of artistic content as well as homey elements that would make a person feel comfortable or relaxed. The service is incredibly long and incredibly boring. There are no fewer than THREE sermons, each of which is unusually long for a sermon, and none of which gave me any meaningful insight into anything. The only thing that I remember about the sermons is the one preacher stating: "I mean, this God stuff is real. This isn't like make-believe stuff." Honestly? He didn't sound convinced himself...it was as if he was trying to convince himself that God really existed...and I don't blame him because going to a church like this could cause someone to develop serious doubts about whether there really is a loving God. The music? Really bad, pop-influenced, sappy, empty Christian praise music. There is no harmony--which is probably due to the fact that no one attending this church would have the skill or talent to able to sing in harmony. The words to the songs are meaningless...there is no depth or complexity to them. I found it utterly painful to sit through. Many members of the congregation raise their hands and sway back and forth to the God-awful music. There is a sort of cult-like mentality to this congregation. Everyone is happy and friendly but in a shallow, conformist way. As a plus, I did not encounter any outright hateful or negative messages from this church...but at the same time, there was nothing to ensure or prove to me that there were no negative or hateful elements lying beneath the surface. The theology, overall, was heavily fundamentalist and simplistic, based on the idea of "accepting Jesus as your savior" without ever talking about what Jesus actually taught or what He stands for. From my experience, churches with this mentality will often have rather severe homophobia and often other forms of bigotry masked beneath the surface of good feelings and smiling faces. I found it interesting to visit this church...as I would have never imagined that a church like this could exist. I can say one good thing about this church--it lives up to its name. Attending this church certainly shattered my worldview...to realize that churches like this actually exist and people (and massive numbers of them) happily attend them required me to drastically adjust the way I look at the world. The problem is, I'm not sure this change is for the better...overall it was a rather disturbing realization that made me look more cynically on Christianity and on humanity as a whole. I would be very happy if I never set foot in a church like this ever again, and I would recommend those who want to have a positive view of human nature and religion in particular to avoid this church like the plague.

UGH!) ...or how AMAZING a singer is (Dove Award singers only please!!!)... if you're not there for the RIGHT reasons and allow your spirit to be fed with SOMETHING from visiting with other believers...then you're there to judge and people bash. It's not about the bricks and mortar. It's not even about the PEOPLE! It's the walk and relationship. That simple. And. Anyone or any negative review of a CHURCH with anything less than "they stole from me" or "the pastor punched me in the face" is kindaaa a little missing the point that that PERSONAL pursuit of worshiping God is...personal. Prior to both of these days, I was given a quick tour of the church on a day after service, back in October 2025 by a friend who attends the church. Christ the King Church is part of the Vineyard Churches group of Christian churches. The church has a beautiful sanctuary inside that is fairly large with plenty of seating. The Sunday morning message by the Pastor is similar to other messages that I've heard from other non-denominational churches. The December 2025 church service that I attended was their Christmas service (it wasn't on Christmas Day). Their choir sang traditional Christmas carols and the piano player played organ sounds. It was lovely. The Quiet Retreat in February 2026 was a free and wonderful event. It was a Saturday spent with reading parts of scripture (The Holy Bible), praying as a group and individually, journaling (optional), and spending time alone in the church. With so much noise around us in the world, it was nice to spend the day in a little silence. The Quiet Retreat lasted from around 8am to 3:30pm and I had fun. The church provided snacks, tea, and lunch. It appears that they plan to do this retreat again so check their Instagram page or church website if you are interested in attending. If you are looking for a church in North Olmsted, then visit Christ the King Church.
