Which sounds great. But if someone in your family receives a mental health diagnosis and you go to any of the pastors for help or prayer, they will essentially shun you or faze you out. All of those "connections" you have made, and any monetary contributions you give to the church won't matter because in their eyes, they have to protect their "brand". Your "friends" won't view you the same once this information get's out. There isn't support for this situation in CVC church. My family had to learn the hard way. It caused a lot of hurt. This church runs on how you present yourself and your family as well as how other people that attend this church perceive you. The church doesn't want acknowledge this type of situation. They want to avoid anything that may seem heavy or messy to them. This church thrives on fitting the mold. The "perfect" families, attendance, opportunities to get involved. This is intentional. My family, they are good people, who did everything "right" in the churches eyes, until they came for help. I wouldn't wish any of what we went through on someone else. I've kept quiet for a long time on this topic. I just feel that it is important for people to understand what we didn't.

I felt God was telling me to just attend. I'm glad that I visited because the sermon message today really was something I needed to hear. The Pastor was in the last day of a series titled "The Strategy of Satan" (read Ephesians 6:10-18). He preached about how in this life, we are engaged in an invisible war. When trials and temptations come your way, be ready to put on the whole armour of God (metaphorically speaking) and fight the devil. The pastor gave real life examples as he preached so the whole message was easy to understand. As the pastor preached, there were notes to follow along on a bulletin. I liked that inside the bulletin, there was a memory verse and next steps on how to get involved with the church. I enjoyed the praise and worship time, prayer, and the little meet and greet session. Everyone I encountered was very friendly snd welcoming. I especially love that the church is diverse - filled with different races with men, women, and children. I've been visiting a few churches these past few weeks and I know where I will end up but I'm still glad that I visited LNLC. **** This is my 110th Yelp review overall. 64 reviews for 2018. It is a big church but not a mega church. 3 Pastors, all with their own skills and gifts. I love it- tucked away in a unassuming…read morestorefront next to Dollar General, it is not the traditional church that many people are used to. The congregation is a medium to small size (about 200 people) including many young families as well as older people. Our pastor Darren Lander, has a gift of being able to preach the Word of God with both weight, humor and poignancy. We are fortunate to have him and grateful to see the Good News that Christ died for sinners like us on display. Hope that people can come check us out sometime!

This church has a challenging, demanding liturgy that is not made user-friendly. I like it…read more There's something raw and coarse about it; it's the way churches should be. At the same time, the community at this church is more open and accessible than some. In many ways, this church is an opposite of the more common type of church in which the services are dumbed-down to be more accessible to newcomers, but the communities are more closed to outsiders. In many ways this church is typical of a church but there are a number of things that are just a tad better here than elsewhere. Episcopal churches tend to have awful singing (i.e. the hymns are good, but Episcopals can't sing), but in this church the singing is average, which means it is unusually good for an Episcopal church. I like it. The service, spiritual-content, and politics? All decent. The Pastor is a cool guy. As an added bonus, there are actually a small handful of people in the 18-35 age range, the group that seems all too absent from most churches. I found the congregation to be fairly welcoming and willing to talk to newcomers. Not only was I actually approached by the pastor and several others at the coffee hour, but people actually took the time to talk to me, and introduce me to people. It made a very good impression. Perhaps the best thing about this church is that there is less wrong with it than there is with most churches. The people here are a little bit less superficial, the service is a little less boring and a little more relevant to your life. It's nothing outstanding really, but considering how incredibly horrible most churches are, I am left with no other choice but to give this church four stars!

However, as first-time visitors, we were a bit put off…read moreby the church's focus on money and the pressure to give absolutely all you can to the them. As second-time visitors, we were incredibly shocked to hear the pastor, from the "pulpit," literally chide and shame the congregants who were not wearing face masks, calling them words like 'immature' and 'childish.' It is certainly no one's business why someone else without a face mask on is that way-- their medical condition, religion, whatever-- so to have a pastor treat people that way was very sad. These examples clearly aren't the type of leadership and church atmosphere the Bible calls for!
