And, even though there weren't any reviews for The Tint Shop, they are local. So, I gave them a call. The receptionist was very friendly, polite and courteous. And, when Lexa couldn't answer my question, she apologized, and asked if I would hold on, to talk to the owner. Sure, no problem. A few seconds later, she came back on the line, and apologized, as the owner was on another line. But, that he would return my call ASAP. And, guess what? He did! So, we scheduled a in person visit for later the same day. 8-) Shane showed up at the appointed time. After introductions were out of the way, he proceeded to take the measurements of the 5 (2, 6x6' and 3, various sized) windows. After viewing the film samples, he gave me the prices (all 5 vs just the 2 big ones). Knowing that I probably won't be here for more than 3 years, I didn't want the top of the line. So, after deciding on the film, and just doing the 2 big windows, Shane scheduled for the earliest date, which was next Tuesday, 9/29 morning. However, about 1.5 hours later, I get a call. It was Shane letting me know that he had a cancellation, and could do the job today, 9/24. 8-) Needless to say, I jumped on that. And, sure enough, Shane and his helper showed up a few minutes ahead of the appointed time. It took them 1 hour, and 50 minutes to tint the 2, 6' x 6' windows. The work they do is excellent! And, based on previous Home tinting in Arizona, these guys did something that wasn't done on my home in AZ. On the vertical sliding windows, they took the guides, and latches off before installing the tint. From what I have seen, everyone here is friendly, courteous, and punctual (if not even a bit early). So if you need your car, or home windows tinted, I highly recommend The Tint Shop.

But, due to a medical situation with a family member, they had to close early (ah, the bain of all small independent companies). But, something I can totally relate to. So, I went there this morning to pick it up. And, I must say, they did an excellent job. They were able to save the 2 convex mirrors, and the backboard. The main octagon-rectangle mirror had to be replaced. So, from the original assembly, he removed the convex mirrors; he removed, cut and replaced with a thicker main mirror; and he reassembled it to original specification. And, all for $30.00! Great work, at a awesome price! While I probably won't need their services again, they will be my first choice for any mirror, or glass work that I should need.

Maybe it was COVID and the owner getting sick, or maybe it was them hiring new mechanics possibly unfamiliar with Vanagons. Either way, we were without our Vanagon for 6-7months and had to tow the Vanagon back to them at our expense with multiple unresolved issues Including it dying several times. The Vanagon was a daily driver for years for us and was very reliable. The repairs we were having done were creature comfort items and preventative maintenance. I did find a radiator fan lead wire disconnected just yesterday after picking the van up for the second time when I got home and noticed the fan not cycling on. Based on our experience we will not be returning to Wolfsburg.
