Went here for the first time after being recommended this store by someone at guitar center. They had an amazing selection and were playing some cool older music while we shopped. They also sold record players but mainly ones with speakers already in them. We were greeted as soon as we walked in an told to have a beautiful day when we left. Traveling through Ohio about eight years ago, I spent some time in Dayton after visiting Columbus and Cleveland. Although I didn't spend much time in Dayton and got lost looking for Roger Troutman's old studio, I did have a great time visiting Omega Music. I found a Musical Youth album, which definitely reminded me of my childhood. The store also had a good selection of 45s, all reasonably priced. The service was excellent, as I recall. If I am ever in this neck of the woods again, I'm certain I will stop by Omega Music. It's a really good record store, for sure. read more

Wouldn't honor Old loyalty card I had. Spent 40 bucks. Wouldn't stamp my card. Said program no longer existed. Put me on Text list for a Birthday discount. But never received anything. I doubt I will go back. Hate having to avoid panhandlers when I go here, out side the store and in the parking lot. Prices are usually well above eBay and Discogs prices too. read more

BIG store! Tons of albums (do I have to say 'vinyl' or is that now understood?) All music genres were available and lots of reissues of classic albums from their original master tapes. Didn't see much in the way of used albums other than the discount bins that you'd have to go through a lot of junk in the hopes of finding a nugget. Not that this can't be fun but I didn't have enough time. The used 45 section is impressive. I was like a kid in a candy shop going through them. If you are a child of the 70s or 80s the nostalgia will be almost unbearable. The sights and sounds plus the smell of heady incense mingling with solid old vinyl. Trippy posters for sale too, t shirts and other miscellany. I didn't interact with staff other than at checkout. The guy was cool and signed me up for their points club. There was actually thin plexiglass in a wooden frame running across the entire counter... they 'just never took it down.' I told them they need to so. It's a bad look. I also didn't care for political signs in the window. I think retailers should just stay out of taking sides on controversial issues. Whatever 'side' they take is going end up pissing some people off. Just concentrate on selling good product! I bought a Queen II album (new) and Pink Floyd's Meddle on CD. I'll be back with a list and make sure I have plenty of time and cash. read more

I came in for an afternoon while I was on tour in OH and man was I impressed. There's lots of record shops, but Omega had a great selection of new LPs organized well and at fair prices. However what really set them apart is the $2 section of used records. If you are down to dig like me, there is soooo many good 12" singles in all genres in great condition that are to be sourced here. Great place to build a radio jams set for a vinyl night. This was such a fun and unexpected find during our adventures walking around the downtown Dayton area while in the the area for work. It was recently Record Store Day and I had to miss (due to work) so I was excited to check this place out. It didn't disappoint. At the risk of being very uncool... this may be the hippest store on the hippest block of Dayton, Ohio. A media lover's browsing dream, you can pour through stacks of vinyl records or more updated media. (But really, everything sounds better on vinyl so stop buying CD's) My recommendations: 1. Free street meter parking on the weekend or use the lot next to the store. 2. Allow yourself at least an hour in this store. 3. Walk the perimeter of the store first. There are unique finds along the walls and aisle end caps. I focused mainly on vinyl, searching the movie soundtracks, jazz, alternative, and rock categories. My usual short list of titles to find came up empty - but there was plenty more to consider. Interesting specials include 'mystery bundles'- 10 albums for $4.99. This was intriguing and I considered but decided against it this trip. There are movie posters, CD's, books, DVD movies, and other assorted items to appreciate. I purchased 2 books and a Led Zeppelin "Physical Graffiti" Mint Vinyl Album. Great experience. read more

The owner of this store and the female cashier we're EXTREMELY rude to my elderly father: He had a mask to put on and instead of giving him 2 seconds to put in on the lady was threatening him and the owner of this store came up cussing him out.. "Get the F*CK out!!" My father had his mask on, was not being hostile or anything. Omega Music is what got me interested in vinyl records, and what keeps me coming back! I've been coming here for about 3 years and now I make sure to make a stop when I'm back in Dayton from Chicago. There is always such a great selection and you can get original pressings of great albums for less than $10. The people who work at Omega are also awesome- if you're open to getting adventurous with your music selections I suggest asking them for advice on good records or new things they've gotten in. I'm spoiled by amazing record stores in Cincinnati, but Omega is one of my favorites in Ohio. Omega has a large selection of used and new records, CDS, Tapes, DVDs and stereo and record player accessories. When it comes to records which are what I mainly go after and buy here, I actually find a lot of records that I can't find anywhere else. Out of everything they have majority are records. I think they have one of the best selection of 7" & 45's out of any record store I've been too or go too. They have a huge selection of them and they always have a great mixture of types of music throughout all of them. Omega also has a great "Local Music" section off to the side of the store. I always appreciate that. Supporting local music is what is up. The prices here are great, more than reasonable. The guys who work here are always super cool and helpful. Not music snobs, not pretentious or judgy. Which is always appreciated. Great location in the Oregon district and they have a whole lot next to the building that you can park in. read more

Amazing selection of vinyl. Love how is laid out. Some of the used stuff is over priced but I suppose vinyl is popular again so thatll be the story at any specialty shop. Lots of other cool stuff to but there too. Right on the edge of the neat historical Oregon district there are plenty of other stops to make on the area. And last but not least... This is a nice shop. It's pretty big and has a nice range of genres and media. Staff was good, somewhat approachable. Their poster selection was cooler a year ago but it's worth a flip through if you enjoy what's super popular right now. They have some really cool T-shirt's and you can stock up on incense while you're there. I really enjoyed flipping through records and left with The Strokes' debut album as well as a 45 that caught my eye in the bargain bins. Most records were priced very reasonably and you might be surprised by some of the stuff they have. They've got a pretty decent punk section which is cool to see, I'll likely stop in again. read more

This place was really cool. I went out with some friends for lunch and we decided to walk down the street to find this art wall and this was on the way and we had noticed it on our way to lunch. So we decided to check it out. On the outside they had free books. On the inside they had cds, vinyls, stickers, movies and pins for cheap. They had movies for like $1.99. They had stickers, 3 for $2. They had pins for like $9 cause they were the real deal. I bought a pin for my best friend and then I got 3 stickers for myself. I was gonna get a vinyl for my best friend too but I don't know all the bands and the albums she does and doesn't have so I didn't. Plus I knew I had to fly back home. Also, when you purchase something you get a free poster. So that's pretty cool. I didn't take one though. The less stuff I had to take home, the better lol. This place is retro/rock looking. I like it. They had more stuff too. Like record players. Which if OH was home, I totally would have bought one. I love my stickers though. This place is legit. read more

I have been to the new Omega Music on 5th (where Gem city was) a few times. While they are a little on the expenisive side they do have a great selection of hard to find vinyl. Also,if you look in the bottom bins you can find great records at very decent prices between 2 and 8 dollars ususally. Love this place! Where me and my boyfriend are from there are no shops like this! We spent hours in here looking through vinyl and CDs. They had a bunch of good indie albums we picked up liars Mess which is so good. We also picked up some incense, they had a bunch of high quality variety for a dollar cheaper than I usually get them. Plus they had a pile of band posters mostly album promotion ones in various sizes up to 11x17. Very good quality prints of all kinds of bands we loved, like Tune Yards, Conor Oberst, Pianos Become Teeth, etc...one free with purchase and the others at just 25 sense a piece. Pretty sweet deal. Really enjoyed ourselves here, will be back for sure next time we're in town. read more

I love this place. They are always playing music, which is usually really good music from all kinds of genres. It's like my phone's playlist - crazy! The people who work here are nice, and helpful. If you're looking for something they don't have, they'll check to see if they can order it for you - and they don't charge you shipping either. It is VERY rare that I visit and don't find something to buy. My only complaint is that the parking lot is kind of a pain, especially on weekends when the drunks are out (Oregon District). read more

Omega is an average record shop in my opinion. They have a decent selection of vinyl, but mostly new records in the Alt,Indie,punk, and metal sections. I think they did a good job separating the hardcore bands in their own category. They have a small section of audio equipment and rare vinyl. They also have the typical used DVD wall. Prices are pretty much at market value and didn't see any good deals. Don't see myself returning anytime soon. read more

Horrible customer service. Bought 2 new pressing sealed albums - one wasn't pressed correctly and the center spindle was too small to play on my turntable (a top of the line vintage pioneer model). Went back the next day with the receipt to exchange it for another copy of the exact same album. They refused to exchange it. Will never shop there again. read more

So if you're looking for music, look no further. CD's, vinyl, accessories, used/new, vinyl, t-shirts, trinkets, vinyl. They've got it all PLUS did I mention they have vinyl records?! Any decade, virtually any act you're looking for, any style - you'll probably be able to find at Omega. And I was amazed at how perfect all of the used records were, especially for such decent prices (shocking when they're being jacked up everywhere else thanks to the hipster craze). My favorite part: everything I looked at was in actual alphabetical order so it seemed like the employees took their jobs seriously helping customers out (organization is key when skimming through thousands of records!). A cool environment that reminds you of 80's punk without the attitude -- everyone seemed super friendly while we were checking out and left their audiophile opinions to themselves. Thankfully it was not a High Fidelity-experience, so I felt very comfortable looking around and taking my time finding what I wanted. Great ambience, great selection of music, great prices.
