This is a good half price books. Courteous and helpful staff. Well organized. Prices vary... but aren't too bad. Not as good as it used to back in the day... like 20-30 years ago (not necessarily this location). They sell more surplus items (new but discounted... kind of like TJ Max of books) with a good Mix of used items. For what it is, can't really expect much as products are meant to be variable. I've always enjoyed Half Price Books. And this location is great, too! One of my favorite things about coming to any of their locations is that they always have little knick-knacks that really help to complete a gift. On my most recent visit I'd called ahead regarding a particular series of children's books - Fancy Nancy. They confirmed that they had them in stock, so we made a family trip of it. I needed to be pointed in the right direction because I didn't quite follow how the children's section was organized. But there were several book options to choose from and I got just what I needed. I was there just a while ago. Found all that I was looking for and went to check out. The cashier pushed the books in front of me and I asked her for a bag. She said they do not have bags but you could purchase one for $1.49. Told her no thanks. What kind of store does not supply bags for your purchase. Half Price Books is pretty good. And there are lots of books here if you're going to college nearby. In addition to books they have lots of video games for sale. Even a clearance section for video games. And they can order anything online for you if it's not in the store. There weren't too many Master's level books in the store though. read more

Besides the incredible large selection of books, DVDs, cds, and comics everyone who works there is so kind and helpful. I especially like selling the books I no longer want and turning right around and spending my credit. If I were younger I would love to work there. read more

It was the middle of December and my daughter was out of town for a much needed weekend getaway. I was up in Dayton house sitting and watching my 4 year old grandson. My daughter had called #halfpricebooks to find a blue ray copy of the movie Daddy's Home 2. She was pleasantly surprised to be told that they had a brand new blue ray & dvd set unopened for $6 and that they would hold it for her not just over the weekend but until Thursday. I took my grandson to see a movie on Saturday and we stopped at the #halfpricebooks store to pick it up for her. I had to wear a mask & do social distancing. The wait in line was short and the man behind the counter was friendly and very helpful. He found the movie on the shelf immediately. The price was as quoted and the the packaging was sealed and of new quality. If I had one of their frequent coupons that they send out via email I would have used it today to save even more money. The purchase with my credit card was quick and easy. We were leaving the store in just over 4 minutes. The store's interior was bright, attractive and we'll organized. I would like to return here when I have more time to just look around and maybe bring in some of my gently used DVD's and even videos to get a store credit. This is my favorite bookstore in the area. Great used section with books for $1 for paperbacks. All other books are half of the cover price, even the newest books and the large print my mom needs. Also lots of chairs around for reading and browsing books. read more

This isn't your usual "Used Bookstore." I've neglected to write a review for this place because when something is really good, I hide it for fear of increased competition from other consumers. But, since I'm moving out of Ohio soon, I'll let you in on the secret. This place has an assortment of used books at 1/2 price, or lower. They are usually in Very Good to Like New condition, and mostly recent titles *INSTEAD OF* of used books published in the 60-80s like you see at a normal "Used Bookstore." You also sell your books here at around 5% the list price (guesstimate). Since the supplier is you - the customer - there are all sorts of interesting books. Last year, I was able to pick up a collection of five European culinary books (Pastries, Desserts, Fish, Meat, Poultry) that showed me how to cook exotic recipes that I had never seen before in Ameica. It was very beautiful. I come here mostly for the textbooks - math, history, science, health, medical, english, business, etc. - for deeply discounted prices at $7.98 each. If you are a lover of learning, you will truly love the textbook selection here. Sometimes, I can find textbooks that I use for my university classes here too - but some of the recently released ones are priced at online prices ($40). They also have PC games and PC software (teaching you Microsoft Office / Photo editing, etc) for ~$2-5. In the back, they have magazines (Vogue, anime, military, etc.) in stacks that change weekly, priced at $0.50...cheaper than any place you can get at a retail store. They're also in good shape too. As I said again, because the supplier of the books are customers, there's even non-English books such as Japanese manga, Japanese literature, Japanese language learning and other language books (German/Chinese/Spanish/etc.). They have a CD section, leather journals, and an antique book section. Now here's the secret since you read my entire review: At the very back section of the bookstore, there's a "CLEARANCE" aisle where they have books for $2-$1. These are usually popular and quality books from recent titles, such as TWILIGHT, Better, SATs, YOU on a Diet, Life of Pi, David Sedaris, textbooks, cookbooks, art books, etc. in Paperback/Harcover. This is what defines this book store in my opinion. If it wasn't for this little section, I probably wouldn't go every single week for my lust of textbook purchasing. read more

This was my first trip to a Half Price Books location - wow! They had it all! They offer products for sale, but also will purchase items for trade. Not only a huge selection of every genre of book, but they offered computer software, CDs, DVDs, comic books - even a large selection of LPs. Most of the records I saw were less than $2. I couldn't purchase too much as I was flying back home, but if I lived here I would definitely be a regular! read more

Man do I love this store! When they say half priced books..they are not kidding. Sometimes even more than half off. I got 3 books for $14...one of those books would have been $25 at a regular bookstore. Speaking of regular bookstore, why ever go to one again?? Between Amazon and Half Price Bookstore there is no need to ever pay full price for a book...you would seriously be crazy too. Anyways, they have a huge selection of a lot of the popular titles. Pretty sweet place. I like stopping in here and perusing. There's a whole lot of great deals on things that would be much more expensive other places. I buy my cards here in bulk, for birthdays and other occassions. It's also a good place to purchase gifts. There's a lot of neat little gift packages for very decent prices. I never have, but you can sell second-hand textbooks and electronics here too. The staff are not too sociable in my opinion, but are polite enough. I don't get a warm fuzzy from them, is what I'm saying. read more

They have several copies of two versions of this book. ( See pics) Some in great condition the others old, stained and in an older edition. Both books currently in circulation and available brand new to buy . They both versions are selling brand new at Amazon for $6.99 and at B&N in store for $9.95 regular price. I even saw one at some book store for 14.99. MSRP. This "HALF PRICED BOOK" store is selling them for 4 cents HIGHER than brick and mortar retail for $9.99!! So how can these USED books be 9.99 ??? not 625 or 445 but FULL PRICE. Sooo I asked. The Manager said, after looking at his computer, be "That's the price". Note they paid as er the computer he was looking at anywhere from 1.25 to 3.50. sooo I said ok thank you and put them back. I am looking for these books because we need as many as we can get, to give away, to help people in addiction. We are buying them to give away free . I am not trying to get them for free I'd just like to have these USED, some very USED, Books at half price as the sight out front says. I guess it is not just the internet that miss leads the buyer. FYI: Soo it is cheaper to buy a brand new than buy used at Half Price Books in Beavercreek Ohio. Why do they call themselves HALF PRICE Books??.. LOOKING For a deal? Walk on by. I was introduced to half price books when I first started visiting Cincinnati. They are a great used and new bookstore where you can find just about anything. They also have a huge selection of used blu-ray and DVD's including many complete TV series box sets. The prices are great. They also will buy books from you. There are also many places where you can seat and read for hours. I love Half Price Books and I'm happy to see they're expanding to other cities. read more

Love this place. I mainly use it to sell my unused books, CDs and DVDS. They don't pay a lot for items but it's a great way to get something for your stuff. They have a huge selection of used books, and very competitive prices. They also have a good selection of vinyl for you record lovers. read more

I LOVE ... Half Price Books! If I could not say more .. That is basically the premise of this review. I'll start with the staff. I don't think I've ever walked into a place where every time I go the staff is smiling and friendly. The diversity of the customers is pretty darn impressive too. There are tons of parking spaces , and it's close to shopping (which is perfect for picking up a book to read while also people watching). The prices are phenomenal and I've always found exactly what I was looking for (and several surprise buys as well). If you haven't checked out this bookstore .. I highly recommend it!! I love this place. I've never been into one of these before but oh man there are TONS of books and movies and music and things all for really REALLY cheap prices. I find so many things all under 5$ and want to weep at the savings. The employees here were sweet, and kicked me 6$ for my few movies and books, along with a coupon for being a seller and a buyer. I haven't been in a Half Price Books in a while. I forgot the kind of place it is. I forgot that they carry many used books and not always in the best shape. Also, dvds, CDs, etc. Today the store was very crowded. It was hard trying to fit down the aisles and into the nooks with the crowd. So many of the books were in bad shape; but there were a few newer books in the front of the store. I would check in periodically, sort of wander in on a whim. I hope for better options next time. read more

OK so I cant check minus 10 stars or I would. Yelp needs and update - why is it no one ever has 0 stars or negative stars for an option... I have NEVER wrote a review before but this hacked me off so much I must. I CALLED HPBs and asked "I have about 600 OLD ROMANCE NOVELS. Is this something you would want." they said sure bring them in and we will make an offer SO I don't drive and must take the bus and walk - I have a hard shell case with wheels that I got 100 books in. VERY HEAVY. Took me 2 hours to get there (2 buses transfer walking ) they look at the books and offer me 25 cents. NOT 25 cents each but 25 cents for the entire 100 books. ME :: are you nuts? What are you smoking? I will burn them before that. HPBs :: well that's actually a generous offer since we cant sell these. Romance novels don't sell much any more. ( GENEROUS - its a slap in the face - its down right theft by deceit. - thought this - didn't say it) ME :: You've got over a thousand over there on the shelf right now if you could not sell them you wouldn't be wasting the space. HPBs :: Well they are old ... and romance novels just don't sell any more - just not popular. (laughable) ME: Well you knew that when we talked over the phone. I specifically said OLD ROMANCE NOVELS. Why didn't you tell me then that you didn't want them. I just spent 2 hours getting here. HPBs - Walked away Ok so since then I have told about a dozen people this and 5 of them laughed and said - "that's there gig - they know most people wont want to take the trouble to haul heavy books back home so they make a laughable offer and most people accept - they did the same to me" The others had never tried to sell books. Half Price Books it's okay if you're buying books. But if you're selling books watch out, I took a bunch of old first editions up there which I know are pretty valuable and they offered me a measly $17 which wasn't even a dollar per book and on top of that the staff seems unfriendly and put out. I will never ever shop there again. read more
