I opted to visit in-person, where one-on-one human interaction trumps the computer age where what was designed to be self-service and intuitive ends up being not so helpful. I was able to get questions answered in-person, as well as avoid mistakes based on assumptions and mis-interpretations of the website and printed materials they furnish (schedules/guides), and pay for it all too. The staff were great, and I attended one class so far, the the educator is very friendly and nice. With a "Yelp Check In" for an inquiry at the office you can get a SBAS re-usable shopping tote bag which comes in handy to keep in your car now that every retailer is charging $0.15 per bag when you shop in the name of the environment (getting rid of free plastic bags).

They still needed assistance. This created a minimum of 20 minutes of the teacher trying to assist all these students who were lost. I felt like she relied on other students to help those students who needed help which isn't fair. They should have a prerequisite to this class MUST know basic microsoft, how to use a mouse, how to save/ download documents into a folder, etc. I decided to stop going to the class since the teacher had to focus on these others students and then when everyone was finally on the same page. She would literally rush through the chapter since of course our class was behind. I'm giving it 3 stars since this isn't the teacher's fault or the students. The school needs to do a better job in making some of these courses to having a prerequisite pertaining to that course.

Turned out to be a great choice, Scroc has a great welding program, in just 2 modules I was able to get my Stick D1.1 certification. Mr.Pete is an excellent teacher, very passionate about welding. Leadership Hermosa Beach is the perfect way to get really involved in the Hermosa Beach / South Bay…read morecommunity and contribute in a meaningful way. It's a 9 month program where a person (professionals, students and parents alike) in the HB community or surrounding area can participate in learning the ins and outs of city council, how the city works, meet council members (including the mayor), network with like-minded folks and work on a group project that will help better the community of Hermosa Beach. For example, the 2010 Leadership Hermosa class voted to raise money for new blue dots on the roads (to replace the old ones, which were cracked or gone), which helps Hermosa Beach Fire Fighters find fire hydrants that may be blocked by cars or are not visible at night, which would help better save a life. It was a wonderful fundraiser that I think will have a lasting effect on the community for years to come. The best part of Leadership Hermosa is the friends you make. The people who run the program as well as the people participating are really wonderful and can easily become some of your best friends. Every year just keeps getting better and better. I cannot wait to see what they accomplish in 2011!
