Overpriced study materials and highly aggressive bordering on harassing salespeople. After getting quotes and telling them we'd be doing research to compare prices before committing, these men called repeatedly, left multiple messages, threatened that (online) spaces would fill up if we didn't buy today. You'd think we owed them money! Clearly they are making commissions, but that should not constitute giving clients contradicting information. These men were incredibly patronizing and even insulting. How this business remains in beyond me. There are lots of options out there for much less, do your homework before giving them your hard earned money. read more

Hector Pino was the admission counselor that aka SHADY sales rep. He processed my credit card $845 (current summer deal for a general contractor license) BEFORE I sent in my signed documents. I tried canceling before completing any forms and recieved the run around. I was informed that someone would contact me to discuss my cancellation and a guy name John called to sale me a DIFFERENT program with more learning material and assistance valued at $400 something dollars on top of my $845. When I specifically asked why I couldn't cancel he told me I had to go through certain protocols but still couldn't explain why I couldn't cancel when they haven't received any authorization from me. Miriam Ruano, another person with no title but says she's the supervisor, agreed that the email Hector sent clearly stated to ititial and sign their enrollment form so they can process my paperwork. Again, NOTHING was signed and they still charged me. I asked to speak to a manager above and still no one has reached out to me. She also informed she couldn't share that information. How can that be?! I reached out to Hector and he was rude and cold towards me saying that now it's in the admissions hands. SHADY ASS PEOPLE. Now they are suggesting to refund 80% and use the rest as a credit for other services with them. Why on earth would I want to use any service with them now? It's the principle. I didn't turn in paperwork. I cancel before submitting any paperwork and they charged me! Just for what? To make $170 off of me? Had they done the right thing I wouldn't be writing this bad review. This school is a rip off! You can get it cheaper - don't buy into their shady sales pitch. They just want your money and you are on your own after that. read more

Getting a contractor license can be tough. For me, it's unfamiliar territory, and I fell like if I make 1 mistake it will go in my "permanent record." To make it worse, Google "contractor school" and you'll find dozens of places that'll take your money. In my experience, Contractor State License School is not only great at what they do, but also their staff takes a personal interest in making sure their students are successful. I didn't buy their online course or their study material. I figured: I have been in the business over 25 years,,,what the heck can they teach me that I don't already know? Anyhow, I studied on my own all the way up until a week before my CSLB C-10 exam. I somehow stumbled onto some online practice exams and failed each and every one of them on the contractor law and safety tests! This is when I realized I needed some help. I called Jerry at CSLS, and he let me know that they had an upcoming "Crash Course" for law and trade. I decided to go for it. Our instructor Roger was informative, friendly, and funny as well. He filled us with essential information on law and I even learned some new trade knowledge that ended up being on the test! The price was right about what I was expecting, nothing over the top, and not dirt cheap either....you get what you pay for. I think CSLS saved my butt on the law test, I breezed through it with 100% confidence, and passed the trade as well. I was out of both tests in about 2.5 hours, with a 20 minute break in between, well ahead of anyone else in the test center. Thank you CSLS, Thank you Jerry, and a great big giant thank you to Roger. I was able to pass my C33 Painting and law & business exams the first time with the help of CSLS. Their live classes along with their materials and crash courses were very helpful. Also, their professional atmosphere was really helpful in writing my application. I was referred to CSLS by a good friend who also received his license through them and I'm so glad he did. To begin: I had the monumental task of attaining the C7 certification for my company. Randomly I selected Contractors State License School from the options listed on my Google search. I narrowed my selection to the Long Beach location due to its proximity to both my work and home. Needless to say I was apprehensive upon undertaking this endeavor. However with the support of the instructors and personnel @ CSLS, I soon realized that 'I can do this!". Desiree C. who is @ the Long Beach location, assisted me in all aspects of the process from completing the administrative tasks to scheduling my classes. She was dependable, professional and possesses a positive attitude. Along with Desiree, I do have to mention Noel - a superb instructor and Jaz B - a knowledgeable counselor for their contributions to my success. Let me clearly articulate that the exams were extremely daunting and difficult. However the bottom line is that I passed both the Law & Business exams along with the Trade exam on my first attempt (January 23, 2015). Not sure where to even begin. Place is terrible. I was cold called and said it would be a two day crash course with some one on one tutoring. Arrived to my surprise to learn the instructor was a hired hand since he said it was his first time in this particular building and he couldn't run the death by power point curriculum. He was inaudible and seemed to have no structure. During the break I heard a few others outside discussing the same concerns I had. After talking with them We realized we had all been duped. They were told what I was told. I left during the first break. Drove 2.5 hours one way and paid 200$ for the course plus a hotel. What a waste of time. read more

(those several days he took to look into the matter weren't very useful i see) he went on to say he will try to upkeep the school's reputation and will look into refunding me only - - - - - - - $300 - - - - - - - out of over $800 i payed for adrian gonzales mistake. he claims there were cost involved to have me attend a math review class that pretty much reminds you how to add subtract and divide. (ridiculous) and other evening classes that don't cover anything off hand they just review book work what you should have worked during the week. he also claimed the book (not books) one 3 ring binder with paper copies of the original/master book was very expensive to make and it will also cut in into that balance. i told him the book was in perfect condition! no papers where written on nor destroyed. the dvd's that come in that book, which is a general c-36 (that any other student can use) where in their original casing and had not 1 scratch in them. all he said was; "nah, those are your books!" i told him i would not settle for $300 for such a horrible customer experience and poor schooling.! (read other reviews about this place! other students say its horrible schooling as well) he than began to mention how they can uphold the contract i singed and not offer me anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! a contract i singed in hopes of a better financial future and self employment freedom. a contract i was tricked into signing by their sales rep who i'm sure enjoyed his commission very much!!!! he wants me to forfeit over $500 over a copy binder and poor schooling. i did not agree. i told hm i would settle for $700 for their mistake and not a cent less! and i wont!! it is unacceptable! adrian gonzales should pay those used up fee's for not doing his job the right, honest, and honorable way!!! mr. santana will call me today at 5pm pacific (so he said). he will look into trying to get those $700 approved and will give me a call back as a result. i hope he honestly tries his best cause i wont settle for less and only than can i and all my yelp readers see the customer satisfaction they have and how they can act accordingly to a mistake of one of their own and make it right! the honest way!! don't be money hungry and have it stain your reputation!! will keep you updated soon! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Mr.Santa had me email him a detailed message regarding my situation, where of course, i asked for a refund. He has been ignoring me since his first reply about 2 weeks ago from today. Good stuff. From the tile I signed up to license about 4 months. Roughly $1000. I signed up for the online classes. They were alright I'm sure some people need them but all I really used was the practice exams and the study guides. But what makes this place 5 stars is the customer service onsite. Both Beatrice and Juliette are AWESOME. They're the reason I was able to get licensed so fast they review all the applications and what not to make sure everything is 100% also Beatrice is kind of a freak cause she reviewed my application found 15 errors, and fixed 42 things while on the phone, responding to emails and talking to 4 other people. I guess I should have been worried she wasn't fully focused but I wasn't cause u feel safe in her hands and I didn't need to be because everything I sent in was approved first time. The study materials are good but only as good as ur tiny little brain can handle but what's great is the customer service and handholding. read more

Tip. Make sure you do your online practice exams over and over and if you don't and have to pay extra to get them again in the future before your test do it,i did and it was worth it.
