I was very happy with my experience at On the Spot! I brought in my 3 year old Dell for a screen repair. They were able to order me a new touchscreen for a fair price and install it quickly. I got my computer back within a few days. Not only is the screen now flawless, but I also feel like my computer is cleaner and better than when I dropped it off. I own an 11 year old MacAir. It wasn't working properly and it needed a new battery. Apple would not service it. I brought it to On The Spot. Not only did they install a superior battery but they reviewed all the applications and data running on the machine and cleaned it up. Now my laptop is running like new...very speedy. The people who work here are really nice and helpful. My computer had liquid damage, and they charged me $45 to take my whole computer apart, clean it all out, dry it, and put it back together. Since it didn't work when they turned it on, they didn't charge me anything else. It would have been $200 if they were able to fix it, which is much less than the $800 apple charges. They were very helpful and they have excellent customer service. They gave me options I can do next, including a partner company that they work with that could replace the damaged parts of my computer. I highly recommend this place. read more

David was absolutely terrific. My fairly new self-built computer wouldn't start at all, I wanted to find out what specifically was wrong, and how to debug such problems in the future. David was extremely patient, walking me through what he was doing, and soon identified that my motherboard was dead. By indulging my interest, he certainly had to work slower and spend additional time explaining everything -- but he did so anyway. We discussed in detail my several options (replacing the motherboard, a partial upgrade, buying an entire new computer.) As a potential customer visiting the shop for the first time, I would expect that a new shop (and definitely not a premium shop) would understand the market. Thus my experience here was negative since the shop did not address my issues, which was their pricing. I came here to get some work done on my computer. Disregarding the fact that the operation is out of a second floor apartment, the labor prices are extreme. The work needed to be done on my computer should take not more than 30 minutes AT MOST. On the Spot quote = $120 @ 4-5 hour wait time Microcenter = $80 @ 2-3 day wait time Professional Geeks = $75 @ 1 hour wait time Needless to say, I chose one of the other Cambridge options. It's important to make sure customers know when a place is excessively charging. $120 excluding parts is a RIDICULOUS rate. read more

All I can say is that there isn't many honest computer repair places left. I spoke to David at on the spot computer repairs about a Sony that I had that would not start. He took the time and explained to me my best options in dealing with a Z top of the line computer that also would be a top of the line repair. Rather then gouge me on repairs (like many computer repair places I had been to) he basically told me options that were more economical and honest. I sincerely was shocked how honest he was and how easily he could have made more money on me but didn't. My computer wouldn't come out of hibernation, and I was reluctant to take it to best buy or another large company because it always takes forever and costs too much. I brought my computer to David at On the Spot Computer Repair. David was very nice and very knowledgeable. I dropped my computer off and he said he would call me when it was done. Brought my old macbook in to get the trackpad replaced....were very responsive to my initial email (thanks Iris) and pricing was good too. When I came in, they asked me to show them the issue....presto, it seemed to be working. The technician came out and talked with me about changing some settings to make it more user-friendly and it seems to be working fine. I took 2 of my laptops here to be fixed. One was older and I just needed Windows reinstalled on it. The other I had recently dropped (oh no!) and it wasn't doing much of anything. David talked me through everything and gave me a quote and said it'd be done in a couple of days. Two days later, he called back. The older laptop's BIOS was corrupted so there was nothing they could do for that but they fixed the other one and it seemed as good as new, minus the cracked front corner from when I had dropped it. I got home and was playing around with it and then noticed that the speakers weren't working. I dropped it off the following week and they had it fixed within an hour and didn't charge me any more than what I originally paid. His whole family is really nice too and whatever they were cooking in there the 2nd time I visited smelled amazing! read more

Got virus on my PC laptop, he was quick and affordable. Very nice guy, I dropped it off Friday afternoon and he was able to find the virus and fix the problem. I had my computer back by Saturday. It only cost me $60. The reason why I gave only 3 stars is because I recently found spyware on the same computer. So I called him back to see if he could help, but he never returned my call. I soon found out that the owner was very sick and unable to return my call. However he did send me an email explaining his situation. I plan on using him again to fix my computer when he's feeling better. So I adjusted my rating to 5 stars which is what I would have given for the first repair. Back in my country (Argentina) I was told that my Samsung ultrabook's trackpad was coming out of place because of a blow, but in OTS confirmed what I thought: it was the battery swelling. My experience with On The Sport Computer Repairs was exactly as the name suggested -- I brought my computer in and in about 10-15 minutes David had fixed it. I had a laptop that had gotten the dreaded "fan error" message and would not start up.
