We contracted with Surface Bella on June 5th to build a new deck, with an agreed start date of…read moreDecember 1st. This timing was chosen deliberately--after Thanksgiving but early enough not to interfere with our Christmas plans. In mid-November, Daniel from Surface Bella reconfirmed the December 1st start date, and I confirmed that we were ready. On December 1st at 9:00 a.m., I called to ask when the crew would arrive and was told--without any prior notice--that work would not begin until December 2nd. Had I not called, we would have waited all day with no information. On December 2nd, we were told to expect the crew between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m., but no one arrived. My 10:00 a.m. call went to voicemail; a later call finally produced an update. The crew arrived at 11:00 a.m., tore down the existing porch, then informed us they lacked the proper tools to finish and would need to return the next day. On December 3rd, the crew arrived at 9:00 a.m., completed the teardown, dug postholes, and began framing. They left at 3:00 p.m. without notifying us they were done for the day or providing any update on progress. On December 4th, two workers arrived at 10:45 a.m., appeared to do little work, and left at 11:15 a.m. without notifying us they were leaving. At that point, after four days, very little had been accomplished. I emailed Daniel, the scheduling supervisor, expressing concern that this should have been day four of a one-week project and that the delays and lack of communication were unacceptable. We had scheduled the work specifically so we could decorate for Christmas and bring our tree through the porch. At that point, it seemed we might not even have a porch by Christmas. After the email, I spoke with Daniel directly. He offered little explanation but said he would assign a different crew and asked if weekend work would be acceptable to finish the project. I agreed and canceled our weekend plans to be available. On Friday, the new crew arrived at 8:30 a.m. and worked steadily until sunset, around 5:30 p.m. Based on Daniel's request, I expected work to continue through the weekend. However, on Saturday no one arrived. By 11:00 a.m., I called Surface Bella and was eventually told there were "truck problems" and the crew would not make it. On Sunday, when no one arrived by 10:00 a.m., I left Daniel a voicemail. When I reached him later, he had no information and said he would follow up. By noon, he advised us to assume the crew would not be coming. This marked the seventh consecutive day I had made myself available and the third day in that period when no crew arrived at all. At that point, only one full day of work had been completed. I sent Daniel a photo showing the deck only partially framed, with roughly one-third of the decking installed. On Monday morning, the crew arrived at 9:45 a.m. and completed the deck. As daylight faded, they rushed through the stairs and railings. The crew left at 5:30 p.m., and we later discovered several issues: balusters were not properly secured, and there were visible gaps where the railing met the house, exposing areas where siding does not extend down to the rail line. On Tuesday, the cleanup crew arrived at 11:00 a.m. I spoke with the on-site manager and pointed out the deficiencies. He said a crew would return Wednesday to address them. Daniel later stated that no crew would be available until Thursday. I informed him I was unavailable Thursday but could be present Friday, December 12th, which he confirmed. On Friday morning, no crew arrived as scheduled. After multiple calls, the crew finally arrived at 11:30 a.m. and corrected all deficiencies, finishing at 2:30 p.m. At this time, I cannot recommend Surface Bella. While the final work was adequate and the contractual requirements were eventually met, we were assured the project would take one working week and it ultimately took two, with repeated delays and poor communication throughout. In hindsight, No supervisor from the company has reviewed the work for quality or completeness. I should have requested photos of prior projects, as I would have specified Trex railings to match the deck.

We have been renovating and flipping houses for more than 30 years, and we have never been as…read moreimpressed with the contracting firm as we are with Villatoro Construction. At the end of our renovation, there wasn't an area of our house that wasn't touched in some way. They were consistently the best. They were able to start work quickly, showed up as promised, and worked full days. They paid so much attention to detail, ensuring that everything was perfect. They were as invested as we were in ensuring that our home looked amazing. We were blown away when we came home one day to see they had pulled out dead bushes and were trimming others.  We hired Villatoro to remove aluminum siding, add insulation, install hardyboard, pressure washed, all exterior painting and internal painting, and onstalled shutters. They repaired damage to several walls and ceilings, they refinishing our wood floors, they added recessed lights and replaced other recessed lights to more modern profile LEDs. They installed three new doors and three new large custom windows.  They replaced molding were needed and rebuilt our damaged side porch. Every trade was curious, efficient, and personable. They became family, and we were genuinely sad to see them go at the end of the project. Obviously, we can not recommend them enough. Please free free to call or ride by our home. There had been several companies to stop by to inspect my roof as they could tell that it needed to…read morebe replaced and I knew that it needed to be replaced, but they were not too convincing to me. I received a letter from my mortgage company in February 2026 informing me that my mortgage cost was rising due to the increase of my insurance premium. Which all had to do with the age of my roof (21yrs old). I knew then that I had to get the roof replaced. Well a couple of weeks later I get a call from Logan Stotler with a company called United Contracting & Roofing and he stated that he was working in my area and wanted to know if he could come by and do a free roof inspection and I was like sure why not. Well I must say upon completion of the roof inspection and going over the cost for replacing it, I just knew that this was the company to go with. The process from start to finish was smooth and I could tell that he was not trying to get over on me or one up me, he was truly genuine and he earned my trust. I was concerned about the fact that I had solar panels and was hoping that they would not be an issue and they were not an issue at all. As a matter of fact I needed another company to service my solar panels as the company that installed them has since gone out of business, so this worked in my favor. I was so pleased with Logan's knowledge and expertise in helping me throughout the process and he always and I do mean that he always was available to answer any questions or concerns that I had. The guys that removed and installed the roof was so professional and clean up was exceptional. They went all over the yard with magnets to pick up any nails that may have fallen outside of the tarp areas. All in all I would highly recommend this company to anyone who is in need of a roof replacement.

But when I met Tom, the timing couldn't have been better. We knew it was time and there was clearly hail damage. Tom was friendly, courteous, respectful of our time, and followed through with the things he said. He worked with us and our insurance company and made the entire process seamless. The process was so much easier than I thought it would be - all because we had Tom's help. The crew finished the work on our roof in a timely manner and they were all complete professionals. Matthew, the project manager, made sure he attended to all of the details. The crew worked diligently to protect our garden and outside equipment. They put a wooden box over my just bloomed iris and saved it, as well as a small Lenten rosebush. They also covered my husband's electric vehicle charger with a board. They did very fast and meticulous work, and when they cleaned up, they left our property better than they found it. They even offered to come back if we found any nails and do an additional sweep. (We did find some nails but very few in my estimation.) They covered everything with tarps and worked hard to clean up the property and leave it pristine. Everyone was friendly and they worked together as a team. It had been about four months since they completed our roof and it still looks wonderful! I can't recommend United Contracting and Roofing highly enough! In fact, I recommended them to a neighbor!
