The employees are without fail polite and informative. There is an array of items. Clothing is always clean, nicely hung. Items are separated by boys/girls aisles, arranged by size. This store is really wonderful. The workers are so friendly and helpful. At the end of summer I had purged my kids rooms, having so many toys and some small "child pieces" like a high chair, baby bouncer and many other items. I came 3 days in a row with a large basket everyday. These wonderful ladies always greeted me with a smile. I was not looking to make a lot of money for my items I just wanted to give these things a second life since everything was still in mostly good condition. The costumer service is fantastic and the store is very clean and organized. I highly recommend this store! read more

Too expensive for baby clothes. I understand for overhead cost u have to get your fee's back. But if products don't move there is no money made. Just didn't think price equaled quality. Only got 1 outfit. read more

I love to not only sell items to Once Upon A Child when my son outgrows his clothes, but we also pick out new items in his size and they always have a wide variety to choose from even popular brands like Polo, Gap, Nike, Jordan and more! I recently found some Air Jordan 1 shoes for my son that may have been worn once and a really nice jacket for this winter. Love the whole concept of this store and appreciate getting to recycle our baby & kid clothes and gear. The staff is usually pretty busy but tries their best to accommodate the constant flow of people. Only complaint: the music!! It is SO LOUD and crackles and cuts in and out certain places in the store. If you're trying to get people in and out as quickly as possible with no browsing....it's working. Yikes. read more

Even though they have all sort of baby stuff in there, most of the people who work in there are VERY rude. They seem unhappy to be there! Also recently I had a very frustrating experience w them when I left a huge box full of baby stuff to try to sell them. They call me 2 hours later to pick them up, check the ticket hanging o the box and tells me that the PASS on those. Alright! I got home and notice the FEW items-winter cloths and 5 pais of shoes were missing!!!! Called them back they said very sorry and I had $12 dollars for my stuff that they didn't even told me that when I went to pick them up!!!! I just went there to get my stuff back and DONATE to somebody who really needs them! Waste of time read more

I have given the store countless number of tries. I wish I could like it more. But time and time again they just disappoint. The lack of customer service doesn't even bother me anymore, I know they are all mostly employees and this is not their dream or forever job and they would rather talk amongst themselves or look at their cell phones rather than look up and greet customers entering their store. But the inconsistency in there buying items and product they put on the floor is just flat out frustrating and leads to many aggravated customers. This time I brought four bins of toys, costumes, and books all in excellent two brand new condition and they only bought a fifth of it. They did not buy one single toy. They cited that they "we're missing pieces "or "didn't work". Which is completely false, the items work, I personally tried all of them the day before bringing them into the store. One tub was not even looked through. I could see the exact same toys on top as they had been the morning I brought them in. When I asked them about it they told me again that they were "missing pieces". I left very frustrated since they took all day to go through my items and then I had to carry the majority of them back to my car. Now I have to decide whether to bring them to another local consignment shop or sell them on Facebook or just donate them. It's a shame, this is such a large store with the resources to do it really well and they just failed to put the time in energy into training their staff and providing consistency. Again, I'm not asking for a pie hello or even help shopping - just do your job and look through items people actually bring. They fail to recognize the fact that we are taking time out of our day and our work schedules and with our children to bring them business. I wish I could say I would never go there again, but the somewhat decent prices on the smocked articles of clothing in particular usually draw me in a few times a year. But as far as being a seller goes, I won't be back. Edited to Add: I left the same review on their Facebook page and an employees has been slammed me in the comments. Wrote extremely rude things about how dare I say anything bad about a place that's giving me money, and maybe I should just get over myself. It was obvious to tell he was married to an employee, all of his public Facebook photos were of his child and Once upon A Child ads and then I found a picture of him and an employee together. Note, I did not name any employees in my review nor did I say anything except my experience. After that, I will do my best not to go there as a buyer either. read more

This place is clean but a little cramped. They're so bright and inviting when you walk in. I was a little concerned by reading other reviews but I figured my experience had to be my own. Since the twins have outgrown most of their clothes I decided I would sell them. Their clothes have been on boxes in our diningroom for quite some time and it was driving my husband crazy lol. Since it's a chore to do most things with the twins I waited until my husband was home to head over. We had 3 boxes of clothes, sizes 6m-24m and shoes. The process is simple, stop in fill out a short form name & address with phone number. They take the info and what you've brought in and give you a time frame of when they will be finished going through your items so you can return. It's a same day process too. They told me 45mins to an hour so I ran to the grocery store which took about that long and returned about an hour later. They were just finishing up. They seemed to only want what is in season which is understandable considering space. If they offer you money and the amount is over$75 they give you a check. I think they're very reasonable and fair. The items they didn't want I took to goodwill. All in all, great experience, nice people and reasonably fair ! I would recommend this store to anyone wanting to make money off of their gently used children's clothes, shoes, books and toys. Once upon a child, I'll be back to sell and purchase ! read more

That place stinks. I have had a lot of different medical Considine including cancer and my daughter and I can barely handle going in there. I love the prices but man the stuff they are putting in the air is probably gaming any employee working there on a regular basis! They probably have headaches and don't even know why. I am in love with this place!!! A very clean, affordable, organized second-hand shop for children! They sell A LOT of babies and children items, from clothes to toys to strollers, high chairs, shoes to bows and whatever else you can think of!! They are priced very reasonable and things are very easy to find, staffs are also friendly on helping you to find what you need. I love to get special clothing for a certain holiday because it's woo expensive to buy brand new for something for my daughter to only wear it once- this is the best place to come!! I've even found brand new items but pay way less than what they go for at a store! **My best purchases are: A baby bjorn carrier that is normally $50+ for $20 and it's in perfect condition! First Valentine's Day and Fun St Patrick's Day onesies for photos! A pair of brand new gold moccasins for $4 when they are $20+ at boutiques and online! This is a good place to buy good quality previously "loved" clothing for children. I do have 2 suggestions- the sizing layout is very confusing. The store needs to figure a size layout that flows. Customers really have to search to find the correct sizing on a row, which could be on both sides of the row or at opposite ends. This would not be hard to figure out- start with preemie and work up- and keep it flowing. The other suggestion concerns the height of the handing rods. Not everyone can reach to the top of 8'grids. Drop the bottom rod down and then drop the top rod to a 6' level. Then customers could actually reach the hanger and not try to grab from the bottom of an item. I agree with other post about the lack of customer service, but I really don't expect that from the employees. Most seem nice while I am checking out and the "line" is haphazard at best. I don't think it is really a line but more of a gathering of people holding clothes in front of a long counter. Eventually someone will say "next" and then you move. read more

Some of their items are ridiculously priced. They are extremely rude and their process for "buying items" change whenever they see fit. They give you 1/3rd of the price they sell it for. I used to love them but the inconsistency and horrible customer service is becoming their norm. I've found The Refinery Childers Consignment is a much better place to sell / consign items. read more

Great little store with lots of variety. Occasionally they will have a section of used Matilda Jane clothing available. I love that because I don't have to look through everything to find that brand. I have found some great clothing for my girls there. Also I like to bring by my clean, gently used, kids clothing to see if they can buy some of it before heading to donate it. read more

My real issue is the preferential treatment they give to some people. I was standing in line to check out when a woman walked in off the street, a girl behind the counter saw her and greeted her (I'd been standing there 3 minutes and had yet to be greeted) She then asked if they could help her (again no one asked me) and she said she was there to pick up her stuff. Although I'd been standing there now 5-6 minutes, the woman pulled a girl from doing her task so she could cash out this lady. She got $50+ for her things and then wanted someone to go over with her why the other stuff wasnt taken. They went through the unsold items with her and then she left. Guess what, I still hadnt been helped. I got to stand there and watch her entire transaction though. So I guess if you know people that work there then you get better service, go figure. Over all the store is clean and larger than some other OUAC's I've been to. Some items are priced more toward the retail end than what is essentially used items. (Spider man mask that retails for $12.99 marked as $9.50 for instance) So it's hit or miss but it depends on what people bring in. read more

A good resale shop overall. Be patient though, it always takes forever to check out. They will often have at least 4 people working and only 1 working a cash register even when there is a long line. The clothes are hit or miss for quality and price. The toys also vary widely in quality and price. If you see a toy and it's too expensive, try to find an identical one because it may be a different price (little to no consistency). The shoes vary greatly in price with no attention to brand name. The shoes aren't clean and inspected before putting them out to sell. I once made it home with a pair of shoes with poop on the bottom of them. I hadn't thought to check before purchasing them. I really like that they are straightforward and consistent about the amount they pay. They pay a standard 25% of retail for items in great condition and sell it for 50% of retail. read more

I live in MIssissippi but anytime I am in Baton Rouge, I always stop and shop here. Very friendly staff and everything is easily organized and marked well on the racks. Very easy to find what you are looking for fairly quickly. I also have sold some of my kids clothes here. Would highly recommend for buying and selling!! read more

Trying to clean out my 5 year olds toys and talked him into selling them. Very gently or hardly used. Easy to work with at OUAC. Bring it in a container like a large Rubbermaid or laundry basket , not a bag or a moving box. Everyone there was wearing masks, they have plexiglass shields in front of the registers. I dropped a box off at lunch time and they were done in a few short hours. Make sure to pick up your cash or any unsold items the same day. If not, you receive store credit and the items left are donated. They are always polite and easy to work with. We also buy from there too. read more

I love the clothing and shoe options. Kids grow out of clothes so fast and are rough on them, it's nice to not have to pay full price. The clothes and most shoes are in great condition. The employees aren't as pleasant to deal with and have bickering conversations about work environment and each other while customers are present including eye rolling. read more

I always have a great experience at Once Upon a Child. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful. I've hardly ever left without finding great affordable clothes and toys for my son. Depending on the season, they are able to offer different prices for things you bring in. So my only complaint is that I brought in several name brand outfits which were gifts and brand new with tags (each priced at over $20) and only offered $40 for all of them PLUS a box of fall/winter clothes. So some items are better off being sold elsewhere (online for example). BUT if you need the cash and immediate selection then OUAC is where it's at. read more
