This is my go-to second-hand store for reselling and buying girl's baby & toddler clothes, mainly due to its location and variety of items. Even though the aisles are typically packed with clothing, the store is clean and pretty well organized. While the payout isn't amazing, I appreciate their resale prices and the frequent discount codes I receive via emails so I typically take items to sell, pick out items to buy, and take advantage of the tax-free transaction when buying items with the resale credit. I agree with other reviewers about their toys and shoes though. They aren't always very clean and there are inconsistencies with the pricing on toys so check around for the lowest price on a toy if you see multiples of it. Also, if you can avoid this place on Saturdays and go during the week, do so. The aisles are narrow and really only allow room for one cart at a time so it gets really cramped if they are busy. If you are selling items to them, be prepared to leave them and come back hours later when they call. read more

I used to love to shop here, but I definitely won't be shopping here nor will I be recommending this store to anyone else. There is no such thing as customer service here. The staff is extremely rude. I'm 8 months pregnant and I asked an employee if I could use the restroom to pee. She did say "yes it's in the back". I went back there and waited 30 min before I finally went back to the front and asked did I need a key to use the restroom. The same lady then said "yes, you have to have an employee unlock the bathroom for you". Then why on earth would you send a customer who asked to use the restroom to go to the back of the store to use the restroom and wait 30 min when you know you have to unlock the restroom for the customer!? Also I downloaded Yelp just to leave a review for this location! I never leave bad reviews but I've had it with the disrespect from this location. read more

Not really friendly, at this location. Great place to find good deals on cloths, toys etc.. if you have the time to fight the tight quarters and lack of space in this store. Its just to small of a space. I've been to 4 locations, so 1st a comparisons of why this location in BR is by far the worst I've ever visited. 1st. Lafayette, la. This location its packed with shelves and no room to move. No designation of no parking at front doors, tight parking lot. But BR location is way worst. 2nd. And 3rd. Stores I've visited were Both in Colorado. Best is Ken Caryl location excellent staff, clean, large spacious store. Huge inventories with room to actually walk and view everything. No parking spots at front of stores so no parking is the rule, unless unloading or loading which is awesome plus very spacious parking lot. So Now THIS LOCATION in BATON ROUGE break down: small store, touch one thing something falls at you or you can put item back down due to lack of space. Can't go down aisle, or you have to squeeze past people, racks are over packed & you can't really view anything. Shelves and racks are way to close to each other. Its hot in this store too, the staff is not very friendly or welcoming. Now the Parking lot: what a joke. 1st its hard to get to this location in my opinion to begin with. Than once there you have to fight to park. Cars are allowed to park directly in front of doors, you can almost hit cars with front doors open up. If they were to close these parking spots up that are up front, literary there would be zero parking spots, that's how tight it is here. Why build at this location, obviously the lot was not big enough. zero parking, zero store space. Not as clean as other location. It's just not worth it to me, to go sweat inside a very cramp store & get door dinges on my car to save money on used crap, I'll stick to new clearence, coupons, sales and even FB used swap sites before I fight this headache of a location with unfriendly staff. I have been three times now including once to sell some of my items. There is a lot to choose from and I found several almost unused and tag-still-on items. That said, I think it's really over priced, especially for clothes, shoes, and books. Some of the gear and toys are much better deals. There are things from places like Children's Place and Target where the price is pretty close to what you would pay for a new item from that store. For example, $4.50 for a pair of toddler shorts that I paid $5.00 for new from Target. For shoes that look pretty worn, the prices are too high. Very few things motivated me to pay the amount they were asking. I even found 2 or 3 books marked with a lower price tag from the original purchase than the price asked for by Once Upon A Child. When I sold items, I did get a surprising amount - 19.50 for maybe 10 clothing items my kids couldn't use any more. They weren't really special - just knit play clothes and dresses. Maybe that's why they charge so much for the used stuff. read more

I have to say that I am a frequent customer of this store, although I have a love/hate relationship with it. I love the idea that I can bring bins full of used clothes from my kids and get either cash or check on the spot. What I hate about it is the way it's all set up. You never know what each of your items have been purchased for...only the total amount you will be receiving. Also, they routinely refuse to accept a good bit of stuff that's brought to them, however if you walk the aisles it's guaranteed you will find items most likely in the same condition as yours, or even a little more worn. I'm sure they will continue to get my business since they are one of the only places I know in this area that have this set up, however I'm pretty much always frustrated when I leave the building. read more

I love shopping at this store for all 4 of kids but the selling process for me is a bit aggravating and disappointing. It being a company I know mnot all things can be purchased all the time. The rules for them buying your stuff are always unclear and they always change. I brought two full bags of clothes that were not stained and only worn a few times looked new. they only picked 7 outfits out of them all with no reason as to why. I would like to continue to bring my clothes there but with 2 very small children toting a bunch of clothes back and forth is frustrating not knowing what they are looking for. read more

I can buy the same toy new at Walmart on sale. Also many are missing pieces. You need to rethink your pricing on toys. It will be a long time before I go back. I found the best store to shop for children of all ages . From 1day old and up , all of the top brands at a price that is 1/4 of the price you'll pay at the department stores. I've always heard great things about this place but today I went and it ruined my experience. I found some great clothes but when it came to check out I had the worst customer service. Once of the cashiers was so rude to me. I was already in front of her waiting as she finished ringing up a costumer she called me and then she went and told me that there was already a costumer waiting in "line" before me. I absolutely love this place! They have always been friendly and helpful and it has by far the largest selections. I am a grandmother so I am able to pick up items for my house so my daughter doesn't have to bring everything with her when she visits. If you're selling, be prepared to set up the items in the middle of the busy store. A lot of items get refused even though your items may be in better condition than items that's already on display. Customer service wasn't so great. I love buying things from this store but I would never sell to them ever again. The money isn't nearby worth the items you sell anyway. Good store. Larger and more to choose from--inexpensive store brands to high end boutique names-- so it can be a lot to sort through when you aren't interested in more common, cheaper brands. This store as well as Plato's closet have some fairly good deals. But the service is HORRIBLE! They really should set up some hidden cameras so the owners can see how rude some of the employees are (especially ignoring customers, not asking who us next in line...). I've been shopping here since it opened. There have been good days and bad days with the workers, but overall I find them to be courteous and helpful. I stay away from the higher priced items and there are plenty of lower priced clothes that meet my needs. The toys and gear are mostly what I purchase. If go pretty often, because the prices vary by age of item and wear and tear. So, I wait until I find an item that it more gently used and lower priced to come in. I guess, like all places, you need to watch for sales and restock of lower priced items. But, I will continue to buy from here. I don't have a rating for selling items to this store. While I'm sure some people have had wonderful experiences, mine have always been "okay." I've shopped there, only being able to find onesies in very rough condition, and sold a few things that still had tags on them, (like baby Gap, Carter's, etc.,) only to get $9 for a large bag of clothing. How can my unworn name brand items only fetch $9 when they're asking me to pay for clothes in rough condition? I think that you have to hold your mouth right and make sure that the wind is blowing the right direction in order to find some clothes to make your trip worth it. I'm sure other's will disagree but that's my experience. I hope yours is much better! read more

I have sold my kids clothes here since it opened. They used to give you a receipt showing what they purchased and how much they purchased it for. They also used to pay more for the clothes when they did this. Now they won't give you an itemized receipt and also pay you much less for your clothes. You definitely get the feeling you're being scammed. For instance, they purchased 13 items from me for $18. What is that?! A little over a dollar per item. These were all brand name clothes, some with tags still on them. You actually come out ahead donating the items to St. Vincent De Paul and claiming it on your taxes. I have asked to see the computer screen to see how much they purchased the items for and was denied as well. I feel like if they aren't hiding something then why do they have a problem with me seeing the screen or getting a print out? They told me the amount they pay depends on who enters the items in the computer.?? Seriously?! They should definitely have a more consistent system than that. So beware of being ripped off for clothes that you spent a pretty penny on. Just didn't want you to waste your time dropping off and waiting (sometimes four hours or more) to only recoup a dollar of that back as I did. #superdisappointed #whatawasteoftime read more
