The concept of the store is great but the prices have gone up above even Walmart. Unfortunately they are buying way too many things and it's taking up space in the entry way and causing checkout to be really slow. The staff is really nice. I was signed up for the baby club but the offers are usually not as good as the regular points system and they can't be combined so I almost never used it. The staff also kept forgetting to sign me up and then to offer me the rewards. I like that they have a high discount on clearance items every month but it's hard to find the clearance stuff because they are mixed in with everything else and on clearance only racks. It's just confusing. The clothes are pretty good quality, I've been able to save some for years to pass down to nephews and my youngest son. You can find some pretty cool graphic t-shirts too. Overall I'd say it's worth the headache if you go during a clearance sale. Otherwise I don't recommend paying $8-14 on used clothes when you pay the same or less for brand new clothes. The equipment is reasonably priced anytime and the toys are as well. read more

Associate informed me they will not buy anything manufactured over 5 years.. I bought a jumperoo and a mama roo both new less than that but I have no idea the time between when it was manufactured and sold. Both were in perfect condition....Grandparent and only used about 5 months each when child came to visit. Associate was extremely not friendly. read more

The merchandise is great. The items in the store and organized and in good shape. My only complaint is the store is super crowded with stuff. It's hard to even get in the door. People are working extremely hard and fast to process buying items from customers, but there are boxes of things lined up to the door. It's not because they aren't working hard enough, it's just because their store is too small to handle the volume they take in. The electronic system does not work well. I dropped things off on Saturday and my phone said they were still queuing on Tuesday?‍. They were done, but the notification system was wrong. I don't mind just taking my stuff in and coming back in a few days, but the website makes it seem like you are done as soon as you take it in. My biggest suggestion would be to have a larger store space or to stop buying items until there is enough room to put them someplace off the floor. read more

I use to frequent once upon a Child by the Dayton mall. it has been several years. I was lucky enough to find several things for my daycare that were clean and in good condition. I went there this past weekend and was horrified at the disgusting filth that was on the baby toys and accessory's. I was looking specifically for a walker and found two. Both were partially broken and had loads of hair wrapped around the wheels. It did not look like they even tried to clean it up before putting it on the floor. The price they wanted for them were just below the price of a brand new one at Buy Buy Baby. I will never return to this specific store again. Disgusting. read more

I used to love shopping here for my kids, now it's really disappointing. Today I went in to shop and there were so many workers behind the counter that they were falling over each other, none were friendly or helpful. I suspect that's why they have been over pricing overused items and undervaluing items that I've brought in to sell. The cost to pay extra staff must be huge. The baby equipment was dirty and was priced way too high. I am generally disappointed in the lack of care and overall climate of the store, plus it's not even a friendly place anymore. I feel that I can't trust the prices or the buy back process. I want to like this store again, they need to figure this out. read more

I only wish a. I could give zero stars. B. That everyone who goes into this place knows that they will take your things if you don't stand watching them. Shady. I came back because their wonderful text message system never texted me to be told I had no store credit and no items. They alledegy "donated" them but they didn't buy the new polo items I brought? Shady liars. They stole our things and didn't offer a cent. Didn't buy any of my items? Nope. They stole them and when I went to look for them in the back the liar who was in charge followed me to make sure I didn't find any of the stolen things. She tried to say they'd give to non profits. Right. That's why they charge 10x what they pay for thrift items. They're thieves. I'm FURIOUS right now and plan to report them. Will never be back. I hope they sleep well at night. read more

This place is AWFUL! My fiancé and I dropped off a tote FULL of clothes and they only take 3 pairs of pajamas. To make matters worst, it took them a FULL DAY to sort through that just to tell me they are only taking 3 items and had to come back the next day to get it. Zero communication, no text or call to let me know my stuff was ready, employees are awful, 0 customer service. This place should be torn down because they are useless! read more

I have been to every Once Upon A Child in the Dayton and Cincinnati area and this location is, by far, the worst! Not sure if it's because it's close to the constantly declining Dayton Mall or what but compared to the other Once Upon A Child stores in the area, it needs some major work. First off, it's very disorganized. Items of clothing are just everywhere. The toy section is impossible to go through so don't even try. I have found quite a few items of clothing with stains and rips so really inspect your loot before you purchase. Also, do NOT use the bathrooms unless its a 5 alarm dump because I have never seen more pukable bathrooms than here. It smells like one big dirty diaper. i have brought quite a few items in to sell, I go to other locations to sell now because this one will low ball you by 25% or more than the other locations in my experience. Also, they will ask you if you want do donate the items they didn't buy to charity, they will supposedly take the items off your hands and donate them for you. DO NOT DONATE TO THEM. i said yes and much to my surprise, the next time I went in, I found a shirt that I had said was fine to donate because they didn't purchase it FOR SALE in the store! I knew it was mine because my daughter's initials were underneath the tag. I really couldn't believe it and felt scammed. So if you can spare the extra gas money try either the Beavercreek or Cincinnati locations. They are much more organized, clean, and enjoyable. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars and still write this review. I went to this location a couple of days ago with items to sell. 2 bags and a box full of toys. I was told they'd be processed by the next day. When I returned to the store, they couldn't find any record of the stuff I had dropped off in the computer. The employee spent 15 minutes asking me what my containers looked like and looking for my items behind the counter. When she found them, she walked them over to me and told me they didn't want to purchase anything from me which I said was fine, but I was confused because I knew there were some brand new clothing items and toys. I took the containers and walked out. When I got to my car, I opened the box and noticed it was THREE QUARTERS EMPTY. The bags seemed lighter too as if stuff was missing. I marched back inside and asked them why so much is missing from my containers when they said they don't want to purchase anything. The manager got involved and they spent 10 more minutes looking in other containers behind the counter for my items. They were finally found in a box labeled as overstock or something random like that. I was so mad!!! Not because of the money, but because they weren't thorough enough to keep track of my stuff and basically would have ended up stealing several items from me if I hadn't noticed or bothered to say anything! The manager was somewhat apologetic, telling me how busy it was the day before. I told her sorry but it's not my fault you can't handle it being busy. The employee who had been searching for my stuff stood in the back rolling her eyes. I'll never go back here. If you do go, keep track of what you bring in. read more

I wish you could give negative stars!! This place is terrible! I took 5 bins of clothes that were barely used after having gone through myself and removed anything that was stained, ripped or worn. They took 1 bin and told me it was because everything else was "too worn!" Sorry but that is complete BS... I walked through the store and looked at the quality of what was on the racks and it wasn't close to what I took in... when I pulled out a pair of shorts and asked the girl what was wrong with them (so I'd know for future reference), her response was "I don't know, I wasn't the one that went through your stuff." A terribly run business! Like others, I give it zero stars. They supposedly donated the clothes they didn't want, as well as my three Rubbermaid containers. They blamed me for their mistake. When I asked why they wouldn't call me before giving everything away, I was told I should have received a text "but we are having issues with our text program."
