I do not have experience with selling to Once Upon a Child, however every time I come in to shop, I am always blown away by the store's organization and selections available for purchase! There are always tons of clothes and baby gear, and the prices are a steal! I've bought two items, that retail for $180 and $90 brand new, and I was able to get them for $40 and $18 at Once Upon a Child! Anytime I need a baby item, I check here first and they usually have it! I've been to other Once Upon Child stores and this Modesto location is just always the best. I also love how every time I walk in, I'm always greeted and the employees ask if I need help. When I've asked for specific products, they're always so helpful and know exactly where to look. Lastly, I love following their instagram! It's SO helpful when they post new items. They are also very responsive which is so helpful when I have questions about certain things! I was surprised to see that past reviews are not good, because I've visited this store like 5 times in the past two months and each time is a great experience! read more

I to would give this establishment NO stars. I have shopped there for 4 years. Most of the time no issues. Yesterday was the first time I went to the new location. I bought some pants and two pairs of shoes for my 5 yr. old son. When I got home I discovered that the two pair of shoes were too small for my son. Initially I was told they would not give me credit for shoes, but would most likely buy them back if they were too small. Today I brought the shoes back. The employee said to give them 10 minutes to decide if they would buy them back and if so for how much. I decided to look for larger sized toddler shoes for my son. Once done I went back to the counter. Yesterday I had bought both pairs for a total of $22. The employee said they would offer me $6.50....really? The owner who I found out later is Tyler came over to inspect the shoes I brought back. Both pairs still had the price tags attached to them. I had cut the plastic ties in order to see if my son could fit in them, which he couldn't. Tyler implied the shoes had been worn, which they weren't. He also implied on pair smelled like smoke, I don't smoke. He then added if the plastic ties were still attached I would be offered more....really Tyler? I made it very clear that I would never put money into Tylers' pocket again. In my opinion he is only out to rip off our community. He actually said to me he was out to make a profit. I have no doubt if I go back to his store (which I won't) that the shoes I brought back for $6.50 will again be on sale for $12 and $10. I did a bit of research on the ownership of Once Upon A Child and discovered that Tyler became owner in 2023. This explains why prices have increased in his store. I miss the old ownership that didn't try to rip of the community. The new location is larger. However along with clothing costing more the toy selection is nothing what it was like at the old location. I strongly recommend all not to line Tyler's pockets. In my opinion his main focus is to prey on families that are trying to make ends meet each and every month. It doesn't surprise me that this establishment only gets an overall rating of 2 stars. James, owner of Once upon a child, I hope that my review prevents people from doing business with you because you are clearly discriminating against old people. You may want to educate yourself on what age discrimination is. Not everyone in the world knows what a QR code is. I just got into Port this morning from Timbuktu where we don't even have electricity. The only reason that I had a cell phone with me that has an attached camera for your QR code was because my granddaughter gave it to me because she showed me how to use GPS. When your clerk asked me How I ordered my food at restaurants and I told her that I ordered off of a menu, or when the other clerk asked me how do you get paid or people for things and I said with cash or a debit card, was that not an indication to you as the owner that maybe I didn't know what you were talking about?! Instead of educating me and walking me through the process you yelled at me and told me that THIS IS OUR PROCESS AND THAT I COULD EITHER DO IT OR GET OUT OF YOUR STORE. I didn't know what it was I was supposed to do. Your clerk keeps pointing to a square on the counter and the customer behind me whispers "if you do that it's going to steal all the information off of your phone".. so when that got me excited you accused me of snapping at your clerk. Thank you for embarrassing me about not being current on technology and Thank you for making me feel super super old!! You are so insistent that I do this thing for you that I didn't even know what I was doing and you were so angry and aggressive with me about doing it or getting out so yeah I got my stuff and got out because I didn't know what it was you were trying to make me do and you wouldn't explain it to me. If I could give zero stars I would. We went into the store today looking for gently used items as we are preparing to be foster parents and when asked about a discount for foster parents the employee told us that foster parents don't get discounts since we get paid for the kids. These people have no clue what it takes to be a foster parent. Do not go here they are insensitive morons. Update: The business manager tries to make excuses that have nothing to do with asking for a discount and having the super rude and classless employee tell us that foster parents get paid for the children so we don't deserve a discount. Instead of making excuses maybe they should find employees that want to actually help customers and read all of the previous reviews from customers on here with a similar experience with their employees and their lack of customer service. read more

I used to live in Tracy and go to that location for years. I've been selling since my first child (I have two now, 6yrs old and a 3 month old). I know a lot of people get frustrated with not making much but it is a resale shop. For me, I'm looking to make a few bucks on stuff I would try to either sell myself on FB marketplace which can take forever or just get rid of to make space for other things. Let's be real, kids grow so quick. For my sells, I just do in store exchanges for the next size for my kids, plus you get an extra 5% off if you do an exchange/store credit. I love the opportunity to save even more money with Tote Tuesdays to get an extra 15% off. The last sell I had, I made $66 on 23 items of just my 3 months old's items, pretty good to me. My son is above the 99th percentile in height so I'm constantly having to come to the store and sell and buy bigger sizes. I really like the selection especially for my daughter, she's also taller than the average 6yr old and there's so much to choose from. At Tracy, the clothes selection isn't that great, they have good toy options though. For my son, I was looking for a bedside bassinet since he didn't wanna sleep in the pack n play bassinet when he was first born, I walked in to look for one and found one right away for $25, a total steal. One of the staff members carried it out to my car for me since I had my son in the stroller. Every time I do a sell, they offer to carry my container out to the car for me which is a huge plus for me whether I need the help or not. Good customer service. Only cons are that some of the aisles are a little narrow, especially as you get closer to the baby boys clothes and toys. Also, being a kid's store, a bathroom is not accessible for customers. You have to go to Walmart, for people with little ones who can't hold it, I would say try and make sure they go before you come to the store if possible. I dropped off two bins of clothes. they give an estimated time of completion & send you a text when they're done (1.5 hrs for me). i went back and they offered a reasonable amount for the items they took. staff was super friendly. read more

As a bargain hunter, I love to shop their designer baby clothes section and they have baby gear at a pretty good price. As a seller: I have sold clothes to this store for years, and they have always been pretty selective of what they take. There are several new girls working now and they have no idea what they are doing. Typically they take 50 to 75% of what I bring in (most of which is designer clothes). Today I came in with two tubs (in season) of 6-9 and 9-12 clothes (which they are not totally inundated with). They took less than 25% of my clothes. They did NOT take several Kate Quinn, Cotton on kids, Baby Gap, and Kickee pants clothes. All of which were in good or excellent condition. I asked them why they did not take those clothes and she literally had no obvious reason. The employees are also not friendly at all and have very few social skills. We will no longer be bringing our quality items to this location as they love to pinch for pennies here. Offered $5 total for multiple items that are easily valued at over $50 resell. Name brand at that. Turned away our leftover bin because the items were "worn" while many of them items are still new with tags? But if you look in the racks you'll find stained clothing clothing with flaws. It makes no sense truly! they wasted my time... i dropped my items off i was told it would be done between 1-2 hours. my items were left for about 4 hours. i was shopping near by stores waiting on them to finish; there closing time was approaching to i went to the store to check i was told come back the next it would have been nice to advise your customers ahead of time. instead of proving incorrect times. all clerks had a whatever attitude. never coming back here. avoid this location and visit tracy instead. they are helpful and provide correct information plus amazing customer service. read more

It's a really good place if you're looking for literally anything baby related but DONT TAKE YOUR BABY CLOTHES TO SELL THEM, they will go thru literally all your items and decline mostly everything unless it has a damn tag on it still. Ridiculous. So many brand new sets my child never even wore and they said they had "stains" which they definitely didn't. And on top of that, when they were returning the items they didn't want to me, they gave me a whole entire bag of clothes that weren't even mine. I've been here a few times to sell and they're pretty good about what they take. Just make sure you bring your items in sturdy bins because they will not accept anything in bags. I went to the store for the first time to drop off some of my newborn babies clothing, and I am shocked at how rudely I was treated! (Let me just start by saying I am a well dressed, well mannered person, so I didn't provoke this type of treatment) Upon entering I was trying to open the door with the stroller and the lady that worked there saw me struggling and just kept going. As I entered the building apparently I went to the wrong counter where it was rudely pointed out that I was at the wrong counter. I looked at her name tag and her name was Debra. I did let her know that this was my first time there so I wasn't aware of the procedures. She rudely asked me my name made a snarky comment about my last name since it's apparently a name she was not used to. Debra told me to fill out a form it would be about 2 1/2 hours they will not call me I need to call them. When I came back later that afternoon AGAIN she was rude to me. I don't know if she's having a bad day or if she is like that every single time. But it really makes me not want to go back there again. I understand they are in a bad neighborhood and maybe they're used to that kind of clientele. But Debra should not treat everybody like that as I'm not even from that terrible side of town myself! I was in the store a few days ago. It is a dreadful lifeless vibe there are two young girls that from what I could see picking up bad habits from an elderly woman that clearly just likes her job and people and kids. I have a few items that I purchased but at the same time was given other items so these were never used or used less than a handful of times this store expect people to come women with like buying something from Walmart and walking straight to the store and one of them to give you $10. This company is preying on people's unfortunate situation due to covid and lack of work taking advantage of people when they are very in need. I took a tote of boys toddler clothes in to sell. they bought one shirt for .90 cent. I was told the rest were stain and they could not take them. I know for a fact some of the shirts haven't been used because I took the tags off before I took them in. the clothes in the tote were not looked at in the store. I have brought numerous items here to sell, each time I've gotten thirteen dollars or less back. Today I brought in 3 items, both of which were barely used, I got thirteen dollars for all. Pretty stupid considering they turn around and sell them for Walmart prices. I only come here to sell the baby items, because I have nowhere to store them and nobody in my family has a girl! Another thing I noticed was, the toys they're selling, need to be cleaned!! I seen numerous toys for infants and toddlers absolutely filthy, I wouldn't buy any of it. The people who work here are extremely rude. They literally were trying to rush us out of the store multiple times when we were looking around it was 11am. The prices are nice but it seems like none of them know of at least being fake with customers even if you don't like your job. Meanwhile they are beyond selective with the items, I remember trying to bring in a baby swim hat that was never worn and retails for $20 and they didn't want it. They ONLY take disney books. Half of the toys are missing things but they still want a lot for them. I came in with 3 bins full and I got $22 back. Definitely recommend using thread up (website) to resell clothes because at least you can name your price and they take everything including "gently used" clothes. The baby bassinets have a good deal but they just look super dirty, you can probably find a nicer deal that's cleaner looking on Facebook marketplace. read more

Zero stars. Went in with a huge Costco bin full of gently used and new brand clothes and they only picked up $12 worth of the clothes. That wasn't the issue , The Issue was that when I was ready to receive my bin back, my bin mysteriously disappeared and they "couldn't find it" . My bin lost. They started making phone calls to the previous sellers but nobody admitted in taking my bin. Who would? My bin was packed to the top with clothes. Apparently The employees gave the wrong bin to the customer which doesn't make sense to me, because all the other bins had the owners names on it and were almost empty when mine in the other hand was full. Whoever took it knew what they were doing. They they had me waiting for a while just to handme $20 and tell me there's nothing they can do. The bin had brand new unopened Toys, never worn shoes and clothes and lots of name brands. I should have listened to all the bad reviews. This place has, but I wanted to give them a chance and now I know what they say about this place is right.
