However, I live alone and am responsible for everything, so sometimes I'm in a pinch, as was the case today. I was in need of extra money for bills and so decided to sell several dvds, some jewelry, my dslr camera, and vintage Dudson, Wilcox & Till china. I wanted to support a local business rather than use eBay, so I webt to the Leggs Diamond location in Big Apple Plaza around 11:55 am (they supposedly open at 11 am). The door was locked and there was a phone number on the door. I called the number and was told that the employee was taking care of her horses because it was hot and that she'd be there within the hour. Okay. I have to take care of my animals in the heat and still make it to work on time, but maybe the supervisor/owner is being flexible. I ran some errands and returned around 12:45 to find the door still locked with the sign still in the window. I called again and asked if I could be called when someone was there because I'd already made two trips out there. The man who answered called the person who was supposed to be there and said that she wasn't answering. I waited in the parking lot - wasting gas and battery because it's too hot to not have at least the fan blowing - until around 1 and then went home and listed my items on eBay. There was no apology and no effort other than one phone call and I wasted two hours and a lot of gasoline on my day off. If you have jewelry, go to Gold Leaf Refining in the New Hartford Shopping Center, and just deal with eBay for anything else.

Dawn asked every customer if they were finding everything alright...except us. Dawn followed us throughout the store...except for the other customers. Despite all this I inquired about a piece of costume jewelry near the counter and was promptly told it wasn't for sale. We bid Dawn a good day and left...hurt and disappointed but weren't about to let this incident ruin our visit to my home state. Apparently one of the customers that had heard/seen the proprietor's poor treatment of us and felt the need to come out and apologize. The customer extended their hand and said I bought this for you to show that not all people think / act like her. In their hand was the brooch we had inquired about. My wife and I were moved to tears. Dawn then came outside and threatened to call the police and have us arrested on suspicion of shoplifting. Never never ever ever do business with this shop. I know I never will again.
