Gosh. This place has gone further downhill since my last review 4 years ago. Came in today around 2pm on a Friday. Had to baskets of clothes to sell. Checked in and looked around their super messy and unorganized store a bit but had to use the restroom BAD BAD. Guess what?? THEY DON'T HAVE A RESTROOM HERE. They direct you to Michael's craft store down the plaza. So a store where many pregnant women shop, many people with children who are potty training, people with potty trained kids or umm... humans in general who need to use restrooms are inconvenienced and have to leave the store to go. Very unprofessional if you ask me. So we left and went to Michael's to use their restroom. We then headed to World Market to kill some more time because I hadn't been notified our baskets were done... I get a text and am notified our sell baskets weren't going to be done until NEARLY 5pm!!!!! It was 2:45! We went back in and asked for our stuff back and we were going to go elsewhere. They made it out like that was a NORMAL amount of time. The most I've ever waited was 20 minutes at the Pearland location. The employees made it out like every Once Upon a Child was like their wait times. Well, considering they probably wouldn't have bought much anyways, I saved my time. I made sure to tell the lady walking towards the store with a basket to sell that she should plan on waiting 2+ hours and she turned around and headed back to her car. Of the items I looked at today, they seemed over priced. The clearance items were marked at 90% off which is incredible but I didn't want to do business here so we left. Honestly, if I never step foot in this location again, it'll be too soon. read more

This location had a 1.00 sale but it was not as good as the other location. They didn't have the items separate you had to rummage through to find one or two clearance items, I ask the rep what items are typically included in the sale ie. Winter, coats etc he said no they just put some stuff out on a rack and some stuff here and there but I end up buying regular stuff I found one tank and a pair of jeans for 1.00 the rest was regular price. read more

Took a tote full of baby girl items. Some new with tags & for the upcoming season (winter). They left all the boutique / new baby items I had in there. The store is a hot mess express in itself. It took 5hrs for it to be sorted & returned. I looked through their stuff & wouldn't buy any of it. It's all dingy. Walmart clothes & im not sure why they would reject my tote full of new/almost new boutique items & higher end brands than Walmart. read more

I recently took a couple baby items that I wasn't using. They took what is selling right now and gave me back the rest. I got a pretty good amount of money for the items and used it to buy more clothes from my growing baby. They have tons of clothes for each season. Highly recommend. read more

I had to come back and update my review- Seems things have progressed since my initial visit. The employees are doing their best to keep up. However- they are annoyingly picky about what they take. Sometimes I can take on something completely unworn and they will reject. They tend to have tons of baby and toddler girls things. Less boy stuff and a lot less older boy stuff. I have found the best way to get what you need out of this store is the shop often and pick up quality or cute items in your child's size ahead of their growth. So I am always looking 1-2 sizes bigger as well as their current size in order to find the best stuff for the best price. read more

This is by far the worst OUAC I've been in. I have been in several after living in a few states. The only positive thing I can bring myself to mention is that the young man in the store greeted me when I walked in and then he wished me a good day when I left. This store is so so unorganized. Every other OUAC that I have been to has been well organized- by size, type of clothing and then by color. I went to this store looking for a red shirt specifically. I thought it was a no brainer walking in really quickly then leaving. Nope. Not this store. I couldn't find even the size I was looking for under the coordinating size sign. Do it recommend this store unless you have nothing better to do but sort through clothes. Prices were high too. You can get brand new shirts at some stores for the same pricing. read more

I love Once Upon a Child. This location has its pros and cons like any other. Cons: Employees were not very helpful. Talked amongst themselves while I asked questions and checked out. Slightly disorganized and small compared to some of the other stores in Houston. Did not have the 10/$10 onesie sections like other stores or I did not see it. Does not have as many larger items. Walkers, strollers, etc. Does not have shopping carts, just bags. This made my shopping trip a little more complicated and rushed. Pros: Best prices compared to Pearland, West Houston and The Woodlands locations. Best amount of clearance options. Swim and holiday organized at the front of the store. Has the best selection of footie pajamas. read more

my husband and I went on Friday July 5 at 1:30. I had two baskets with all clothes nicely folded and many with tags. The person checking items said they had five others infront of him and it would be an hour. He told her no worries he'll be back later. She said to return before 9 otherwise it would be store credit, understandable. He returned at 5:00 and brought them back home to me. He said the women told him many items were stained and they could not accept. I went through the whole basket and one wasn't never looked at while the other has items tossed and they took 5 items. i understand it was a busy day that's why he said he would return later no rush but these employees are getting paid to check and to send a basket back with items folded exactly how I sent them and in the order I placed them was a waste of time. I'll make the trip to the Pearland location in the future read more

I want to say I have only purchased here, never sold. My experiences here have been pleasant. I have found a lot of barely used or even new with tags nice and name brand clothing for my toddler son. The toy section is very unorganized and can be messy, but I have found some really great items there that my son loves, as well as greatly used books. The staff can be hit or miss...a few times I have been when a male staff member was working, and he was very pleasant and helpful. I will continue to shop here. read more

Over heard about this store from some people just talking and I was just being nosey. (Lol) Decided Hey! My son have plenty of old clothes and are in pretty good shape still. So I popped up with a trash bag full of clothes and shoes. First I filled out a little small form with my driver license. Then the clerk gave me one hour to wait, so I left and came back. Once I came back, I was offered $35 for about 25 items in the bag. Cool right! The other items they didn't take due to it being stained or just to old. Which is ok because I'm just drop them off at a donation box. Neat idea! It's all kinda cheap and damn near brand new car seats, strollers, baby beds and etc! read more

The staff member at the front was so rude. I drove an hour to the nearest location (Bay Area) and was instantly turned away (at 2 p.m.). She didn't even offer to take my tiny bag and say "we'll call you tomorrow when your buy is done." I've honesty never met someone more rude... She didn't even look at me when we were talking, and she didn't acknowledge me when I walked in. Great customer service ::sarcasm:: P.S. If you're going to advertise on the radio that you are doing buys, don't send customers away after they drove an hour to get there. read more

Love this location, I was surprised at the size of the store it's pretty big compared to the Baytown location. It had a much better selection as far as items to buy. Small section for baby boy clothes as usual but the clothes and prices are fair. Every single item I took to sell was purchased, I took baby boy clothes sizes Newborn-6 months. Some where new most was used but in very good condition. The amount of money I received for all of my items was extremely fair. The employees were very nice and fast with my quote,Will definitely be going back. read more

Way better and the stench is gone!! I use to be an avid OUC shopper for years when my daughter was younger, we lived on the north side of Houston. We moved down here and I came in once two years ago and it was DISGUSTING. I hadn't been back until today. Clothes were well organized, nice and easy to find and it no longer smells. Giving 4 stars as the front helpers were young and chatty with themselves but other than that I'll def return this time. read more

This store is a monstrosity! Workers are the worst I've ever seen in my 4 years of shopping at once upon a child. The store is unruly, unorganized, unorthodox, unsanitary, unacceptable ... hope you get the picture if not please see my photo attached. I felt dirty walking out of this store I will never ever be back unless they get new workers and new management. Shoe selection is horrible, clothes are half marked down, other half being processed, workers are young and careless, store is overall bad. F minus for sure. They are unnecessarily picky about the clothes that they will take from you. I brought in 3 boxes of clothes and they took maybe four or five dresses. When I went in there originally I spoke with the manager and life was easy, but went back a second time and she wasn't there.. It was an awful experience that time around. It's like the second the manager leaves everybody forgets what they are doing. I understand that they have a lot of stuff, but I wish they would put a little more effort into organization. Went in about two weeks ago. I won't be returning. I called to get a time quote for a drop off because I had my 1 and 3 year old with me and didn't want to waste time lugging them and two huge bins of clothing in if it was going to be longer than the 3 hours we'd be in the area. We were 5 minutes away and the girl wouldn't quote me a time. Ok. I can get past that. Lug my bins and kids in and one of the girls was very rude! Mentioning how the clothes were just "thrown" in the bins. They were not. They were stacked flat. They told me when to come back. It was about two hours which was fine with me. This was on a weekday afternoon. The rude girl was not the one to check me out. It was a different girl and although she wasn't friendly, she also wasn't rude. Here's the real reason I will never return. Out of my two huge bins they took next to nothing. Our stuff was from Gap, Carters and Old Navy. There was also some Circo (Target). I get being choosy with some Carters/Circo stuff, I do. Even Old Navy, but GAP? Brand new condition stuff? One of the pants had never been worn. All of the clothing had been purchased within the past year...all first hand. No staining, no fading. They even turned away two things with TAGS. Huge waste of time. Never again. read more

It's not worth the time. Typically they have a 5-6 hour backlog. It takes them a long time to 'price' potential donations. That means that you'll have to wait 5-6 hours before you even know if they'll buy anything. It's a great option if you live nearby, but not if you don't. read more

Oh my goodness yall, this place smells so bad I could only stomach it for 5 minutes. I really tried to browse but the overwhelming stench of dirty diaper and rotten cereal was more than I could bear. Maybe you could find something and disinfect it but I'm not sure it would be worth getting the flu. That's what you have here folks, a way to catch rotavirus and the flu lol. read more

Much better experience this time. The staff was pleasant and although they moved slowly they were helpful. The feel of the place was better too - tidier, and less broken toys strewn about. After my previous awful experience I got a call from someone higher up the ladder than the MoD I had encountered. She not only apologized profusely, she chatted with me for awhile and I felt TRULY heard. She also sent me some $5 Baby bucks towards my next purchases (I used one today to buy my boys some shoes!) which was greatly appreciated. I was so encouraged by her call that I brought items (all new with tags, so damn good ones!) to sell today as well. Hope the trend of pleasant and efficient continues to rise for this place. I practically LIVED at the one in Austin and it would be nice to have a spot like that to be known in again. :-) read more

I love this store, I've been to many locations and I feel that it was priced really good and I can actually move the clothes on the rack because it was not over packed. The checkout was fast and the employees were friendly. And a plus is that it's connected to Plato's closet!!! read more

I'm convinced that you would be better off trying Goodwill or any other thrift shop. It is by far the nastiest OUAC that I have ever been in. There's WAY too much merchandise and it's not even good merchandise at that. On top of all that, the staff was not friendly whatsoever. I spent over an hour in there waiting on my clothes that I was selling to be sorted through. I imagined that I would have enough clothes that I was buying that I wouldn't even want the cash from the clothes I was selling. Wrong. I ended up with 2 thing out of the entire store. This is not normal for me. I spent $100+ every single time I visit OUAC. Seriously disappointed. read more

I'm not one to leave reviews at all. I have never had any problems or felt shorted coming to OUAC. I always trade in my babies clothes at the willowbrook location when I don't feel like selling & usually get a great deal in store credit. I decided to come to this location since I just moved to this area. I brought in at least 15 items which included AF1's that my child wore 2xs & Another pair of Nikes that were fashionable. I left my stuff over night bc like i've said i've NEVER had any problems. I come in today to use the store credit to find that i was given $50. The AF1's alone were $70! I feel shorted & so disappointed. I stated I didn't want money from the get go just store credit so I could basically be trading. I genuinely loved this store & always recommended my mom friends to OUAC. They kept EVERYTHING claiming what they didn't buy would be donated. Which i'm sure they will be selling too. read more

I've tested my theory on this place multiple times and it's completely true: there is no standard practice used here for what they will and won't accept- it's based on the opinion and judgement of who is checking the clothes at the time. I brought in gently Nike shoes- bought them for over $100- they didn't even take them. Didn't take the two other pair of shoes that were Nike either and I've seen bins of dirty well worn shoes at this location before. The clothes I brought were worn but taken care of- brought about 30 items and they bought 9. I GUARANTEE you if I were to bring it in when other people are working, they would accept the shoes. Your system is seriously flawed. If you say you accept name brand gently worn items, then you should offer a price for items instead of wasting people's time and just refusing an entire bin because they refused to go through the items one by one(another thing I've witnessed- an entire stack of clothes that were completely untouched and told they couldn't be bought for general wear down). It's really frustrating at this location. And I know I'm not the only one who does business here that has seen ripped and stained clothes on the racks. read more

Clothes are good buys but terrible customer service. I have heard them gossip about each other and they are rude. I brought in a toy train and after waiting an hour to see if they would accept, they told me that I would have to put it together before they would consider buying it. I had the same experience as other reviewers: 1. Extremely long wait times even after calling and inquiring about buying procedures. 2. Dirty and unorganized store with clothes crammed onto racks (and not in size order). 3. Unnecessarily picky about choosing clothes. Ok, so it takes a while for the staff to go through your clothing and decide what they want to buy...but I have never had more than an hour wait, personally. It is best to go during the week to sell. If you are a clothes hound like I am, this store is like Disney World. If you are in the mood for digging around (yes, there is a ton of stuff in this store) it is a great experience. I tried to look around for a few minutes and I couldn't even walk down a few of their aisle, they had so much junk and toys blocking the way so I just turned around and left. I looked around and saw some pretty old ugly items that were marked pretty high in my opinion. Don't go its a waste of time I took a whole garbage bag full of clothes with brand new shoes they took 3 hrs to look through it and they said they wanted 11 items for $14.05 and they were all brand new items I don't think so I'll pass on that one last time I went they gave me $5 for 8 items really I was desperate and needed the money so I took it but not this time just have a garage sale you will get more money like that. I've gone into this store for the last time! It is always such an unpleasant experience. Instead of being happy that you have brought them 50 outfits in perfect condition ON HANGER, they immediately start to give you attitude about why they won't take this and they won't take that! Then you have to wait in the store while they appraise it, which is ridiculous and somewhat to their detriment because while I was looking around I discovered that they were turning away items that were nicer than what they sell! read more
