I have done business here multiple times and want to support other families but I will never come here again. The management and workers are the most unfriendly and unprofessional I've seen. I called to try and set an appointment to sell clothing and was hung up on TWICE after calling. I wasn't even able to open my mouth before being hung up on. So disappointing, I would love to pass on my son's clothes onto another family through the help of Once upon a child but looks like I'll be going to Facebook, like everyone else does. I was in there looking for some shirts for my son and a very angry man was hanging items up. He made it very clear I was in his way and I could hear him swearing under his breath. I had my 5 year old with me and needless to say I was not impressed. I will not be back. read more

I tried to help a friend sell some items. We arrived early Sunday afternoon and were told they weren't buying anymore. The heavy woman whose strained face demonstrated she hated life was quite curt in letting us know. Most of what we had matched their most needed list. The business is predicated on buying items and selling them and since Sunday is a day people typically have off, the lack of foresight here is unacceptable. Furthermore, I've never seen it printed anywhere that their policy is they just stop accepting items at random times. That aside, I've rarely had a good experience here. Their clothes are decent but I find a lot of tattered and/or stained items that I suppose slipped through the QA process. In seeing how much the staff seems to hate their jobs, I see how this is possible. I sometimes find new items that are priced higher than the original price tag on the item. That's just tacky, less so if the original tag were actually removed. Forget about buying shoes here. The bins of shoes should just be moved to the dumpster. The aisles are narrow but well-organized. It is definitely not a comfortable place to shop. It has that hurry up and gather up the items you want before the hurricane hits feel to it. read more

As my partner arrived to Once Upon a Child to check in with our items, she was greeted by an angry man whom would later be identified as the owner. He aggressively confronted her because she was late more than once and began to profile her based on her address and profession. He stated that he knew who she was and where she worked. Insulting her and announcing his opinion out loud to customers within the store. Horrified, my partner, a survivor of domestic violence, gathered her items and fled in tears. This is unacceptable behavior. As a full grown man standing at 6ft 3 and 315lbs, I doubt that this would have happened to me. However, I wish it had. Because I don't tolerate abuse of anyone especially by Once Upon A Child, I stand against it. This owner needs to be...educated and put in check. read more

I stop here every two weeks! Having 3 little ones means lots of random needs, every time I stop in I find the "basics", for cheap! The store is well organized, easy to navigate and staff is helpful. Selling is standard consignment shop protocol. They pay a set percentage of what they sell for. Don't expect a ton of money for used kids stuff BUT what they do take, they give you cash! read more

This is the best Once Upon A Child I've been visited. The only one I have been in with shopping carts. :) There is a great variety of gently used clothing and gear. I've been happy with everything I've bought. I like that they have some locally made items like bug repellent etc. Usually good customer service but everyone has a bad day every so often. :) No harm. I had heard about Once Upon a Child previously but never had an excuse to visit it until I had a baby a few months ago. I've been in twice now and have been quite impressed with the deals that can be found there. Everything is used and they pay cash on the spot for your used baby clothing and gear so it's quick and painless. They also regularly have sales on these items so it's quite a bargain. The other day I bought two adorable outfits of a high end brand for 75% off ($4 total for the two)! The staff is quite friendly as well. Highly recommend a visit if you have kid-lets! read more

I am a mother of two and if I am looking for clothing items for my kids, Once Upon A Child is always worth a stop. Most of the time, I can find something that will fit the current need. Occasionally, I'll stop in and not find anything I need... but that's rare. I have sold and bought everything from clothes to strollers and will continue to visit until my kids outgrow the sizes they carry. Prices are fair for used kids clothing, and the sales twice a year are crazy! I bought my daughter a winter coat during their February sale for $5; you can't beat it. I would recommend giving them a shot if you have kids. read more

We just moved to Burlington from the DC area. My four kids all need winter clothes. For under $200, I got them each a new coat, snow pants & several outfits. The clothes are mostly name brands & in great condition. After washing, the jackets look brand new. We definitely be back for more! read more

RUN THE OTHER WAY ! First of all we brought a bunch of stuff to sell to them since our kids are way old we brought them brand new strollers jumpers a high chair a lot of other small baby items and a bunch of clothes that we paid for that total cost over 1000. So they're going through everything and being ridiculously picky with everything. So we left and waited for them to call us to come pick up our items and and they only offered us less than 100 for all of the stuff they took from us the stroller alone cost 200 and it was never used. I should have just given it to a family in need rather than selling it to a UNETHICAL CHEAP AND UNFAIR company such as this. And I have LOTS of mommy friends that were going to sell and shop there but NO so you just lost a bunch of customers. How about corporate takes a look at the store and fix what's broken because I feel like we were severely jipped I wanted to just ask for all of my stuff back but the reason I was selling it is because we were moving and I wanted it gone. I have been shopping at this store now for four years. There have always been a few staff whom I question the professionalism of but now I know for sure that the professionalism is lacking. I was at this store on Saturday March 24th at 5:30pm. I overheard another customer say that the store was closing at 6 so I kept that in mind while scoping out the items I was searching for. During the time that I was browsing the store I could over hear the three ladies behind the counter talking about customers coming in when it's so close to closing time. I understand this can be frustrating but when your hours are until 6; that means you're working with customers until 6 and then you shut the store down. At 5:53 I was debating on the items in my hand and making sure they were exactly what I needed. At this time one of the ladies working there called from the other end of the aisle to me," were closing now so I would... *clapped hands twice*." As in chop-chop or maybe she had mistaken me for a dog I'm not quite sure. Either way it was incredibly rude and unprofessional. Not only is it rude to communicate with a customer like this; it also was NOT closing time. I can only hope that these ladies will have received some type of training in maturity and professionalism in the work place in the very near future. read more
