It is a cool, if not a bit eccentric, piece of art located in downtown Jacksonville, Florida. I specifically headed downtown to see this cool piece of local art. Since it is in downtown Jacksonville, parking was a bit of a hassle. But I just had to go around the block once until I found a parking spot. I parked, tossed a few quarters in the parking meter and headed to check out this piece of art. A community's art helps give that community a personality. This art, while quirky, is definitely cool and I would definitely recommend it. Just head over to James Weldon Johnson Park and you will find it.

The MOSH Mouth is across the river in James Weldon Johnson Park, next to MOCA. This poor sculpture has been really vandalized. At the time of my visit, other Yelp photos had been posted 4 and 7 mos prior, and it was far less defaced. No holes kicked into the teeth, no green or white spray paint just about everywhere. It's a shame because the sculpture looks stupid with all the smartazz nonsense on it. And kicking holes in the structure? Grow up, that's disgusting. What a waste. Cool effort on the part of the artists and the city. But the trailer punks in Jax are destroying the presence of sculpture in town. If you want your city to grow some respectable culture, don't destroy it! Poor Double Dare-faced lady!

Very lifelike hands carrying a stack of books- I am a huge fan of reading. I truly believe it expands our minds, consciousness and understanding and lends the benefit of sparking the imagination. I have been an avid reader most of my life, raised in a household where no one else enjoyed reading. I tried very hard to instill that same passion in my children- which was hit or miss. There is so much hustle and bustle and -honestly- a question of safety is always an underlying feeling. It doesn't even matter the city, it just is. I feel like I could just be swallowed up by it. That being said- I love the chaotic energy that a busy city brings. It's tangible. The high alert, looking everywhere, in awe of towering buildings or art everywhere. The vast difference in people around you. I've been downtown when it is crazy busy and when the city is near quiet. At night- when leaving a show, late- the lights, the skyline is almost dreamlike. I get all of these emotions and memories flooding my thoughts when I see this mural. From what I read this one of the first large scale murals downtown. A hidden gem, this community has been reinventing itself over the years. Fun speakeasys, brewery, pub, coffee, foodie heaven all rolled into one of the older neighborhoods of Jax. I feel like Dreamette is the cornerstone of this neighborhood- the anchor. Then you add in pizza, tacos, diner food and more! It's definitely worth exploring. The local art vibe is also alive and well~ a breath of fresh air into this oldie but goodie. I have barely scratched the surface here and have been to 7 or 8 different businesses!

I had the privilege of being able to attend an investigation with these phenomenal folks at the St Augustine Lighthouse while filming for their new TV show, Local Haunts! This was a crazy cool experience for me personally. The creator of the JPRS team is Lori Gaunder and she is extremely passionate about her team, the investigative process and her extensive EVP work. Lori and the team made me feel welcome before and after this particular investigation and believe me, having never done this kind of work before I WAS NERVOUS! This group has been around for quite a while and is extremely busy with their new show and finding new locations around the area for their adventures.
