It's not super huge, but it's not a terrible place to get a little bit of work done to pass some time. I arrived recently when it was warmer than usual. Unfortunately, that meant the AC wasn't kicking in. That was a bummer. There are a couple meeting rooms along with some space for people to do some work for a short amount of time. There is a play area for kids, so it can get a bit noisy though. Then again, the library has to serve the greater good of the people. The architecture, as some have mentioned, is quite new and modern. It does make it a pleasant experience to enjoy. I don't know if it's super spacious, but it does do the job.

The DUMBO branch of BPL is the newest and latest library (since 1983!) and the sheer newness and…read morebeautifully modern design of the space speaks to that. The waterfront views of Manhattan Bridge and the various study spaces make this library a great choice for working though it does get a little noisy after 2pm with lots of younger patrons coming in then. Four super large, clean, private gender-neutral bathrooms and two water fountains! More libraries need better water fountains!

Other non-government offices are food eateries, pubs and restaurants. I came here numerous occasions for NYC DCAS and Supreme Court of NYS. Outdoor summer activities as concerts and people street busk for a living near MetroTech Commons happens here.

Metro Tech is located Downtown Brooklyn. It was built by the same developer who built the South…read moreStreet Seaport and Inner Harbour. Chase is one of the bigger establishment 's in the area. City Tech and NYU are also housed in the area. In the summer you can see great concerts for free. Great seating area for lunch and free movies in the summer, and a cool choice if restaurants and hotels. Every December they have a Christmas tree lighting. This year they really outdid themselves. Hot chocolate and donuts, a rocking DJ, and beautiful ice carvings. And a performance by an all female Afro-Brazilian drumming group named Batala. They were awesome. I also enjoyed the MC, who kept everyone engaged and entertained. Then Santa arrived to light the beautiful tree. Its always nice to know that you can see a beautiful tree in Brooklyn, get great refreshments,meeting people, do a few line dances, warm up and then the a ha moment sets in. In have to go back to work. I filled my pockets with miniature candy canes and went on my merry little way and finished the rest of my evening with a very nice memory and a smile on my face.

Willowdell Arch carries the East Drive above a pedestrian path that connects the Mall with the…read moreDene. It's located at East Drive and 67th Street. There's lots of sites nearby. The Mall, the Bandshell, Literary Walk, statues, Bethesda Terrace and on and on. I love this arch for the red brick. It's clean and well kept underneath. Built in 1861 it has sandstone trim. On the Northern Side is a niche where there once was a fountain. The day I took my photos I caught a carriage on top. These are some of my favorite arch photos. I hope you visit and enjoy the neighborhood business district. There's so much to do and see.

We visited this shrine while visiting Staten Island for the day. I didn't know what to expect but…read morewhen we arrived I was full of oohs ahhs. The shrine is located in a residential area on a dead end street in the Rosebank neighborhood. According to internet, "the shrine is made of "concrete spangled with smooth round stones, glass marbles, shells, plastic flowers. Some of the shrine is decorated with religious icons of saints, some behind glass, some not." There's a small inside space you can walk in and view pictures and memorials with crosses and diamond shapes surrounding where people place prayer cards and flowers in memory of loved ones. This shrine is definitely in a hidden gem in Staten Island and worth a one time visit.

Nearby look for the green awnings of the Columbus Circle Information Kiosk for more information. I like to grab a seat on the low stone wall or anywhere I find a seat in the seating area. It's a good place to people watch. I've been coming here for years. In the holiday season the Columbus Circle Holiday Market operates from this plaza. You can buy unique gifts from vendors selling all sorts of goods from food to candles to clothes. It's almost time for the holidays so keep that in mind. This area is in close proximity to lots of public transportation. I'd advise you to stay alert because at times this area becomes like Times Square. All types of individuals are crowding around so you want to stay safe in your travels. I'm recommending you visit.

Litchfield Villa is an Italianate mansion that was built on a large private estate. When Prospect…read morePark was first proposed and then opened in 1867, the park had to be designed around the villa. Litchfield purchased the land in 1852, and the structure was built in 1854-1857 at a cost of $150,000. Litchfield was reluctant to sell his property. Eventually, The New York City Parks Commission acquired the Litchfield plot in 1868 for $1.7 million. This representing 42% of the overall land budget for the park, even though the plot constituted just over five percent of the park's acreage. The facade is made of brick that is painted to mimic stone. The front of the villa has a four-story-high tower attached to an octagonal three-story pavilion. The balconies and porches are covered by canopies that are supported by columns. The cylindrical turrets also contribute to the classical design. The Litchfields leased the property from the city until 1882, and the following year, the Brooklyn Park Commission started using the house as its headquarters.
